First of all: I love the event mechanics! :inlove: The challenge to figure out which lanterns to light, which patterns are most efficient, play as many or as few levels as you want, choosing the rewards in the event shop. That's all great and so much more interesting than the standard FSQ event. Well done!

But :sleepy: what do I find, after putting a lot of effort into finding the optimal patterns? Sooo many event crops are needed, just to get the cloud row :( That makes this event not hard, but double hard! Once hard because of the event mechanic and once more hard because of the amount of crops. Now if the prizes reflected this (for instance a great buff for the cloud row), I would be happy! I would appreciate a challenging event with awesome prizes. But instead the prizes are ordinary or maybe even less than that :(

My goal is to get the cloud row (with items) and the miscellaneous prizes, which I consider to be a reasonably modest goal. With 8 coins from each level I have to complete 15 levels. To get 15*8 coins one needs to light (at least) 48 event crop lanterns, using for instance:
    • 32,400 hyacinths
    • 12,600 glowberries
The last normal (non random) crop event, "Around the world", required 16,800 of a 6hr crop. The 32,400 hyacinths and 12,600 glowberries correspond to 38,400 of a 6 hr crop, over twice as much as required for the "Around the world" event! But the prizes for "Around the world" are much better in my opinion:
    • Firefly jamboree 15 levels: 1 cloud row, 24hour machinery coupon, 60 PF, 8 stars, 144k EP/BEP, 83k CC, 5 party tickets, 5 wonder trees, 2 wonder stables, 70 ssg, 80 sg.
    • Around the world: 1 cloud row (comparable to firefly CR), second set of items, 85 PF, 24 stars, 3 party tickets, 24 wonder trees, 6 wonder stables, 50 ssg, 40 sg, plus EP and CC.
To sum up: double hard for half the prizes :(

I like the event mechanics a lot, so it is really too bad that I am not more excited about the event. Please try it again in a while, but with much lower requirements per lantern. Then the fun challenge would be figuring out how to get lots of prizes from the crops you grow. As it is now, the challenge is to find out how to get away with growing lots and lots and lots of crops (instead of lots and lots and lots and lots) for the minimum amount of prizes you want :sleepy:

This event is a huge turn off. Even with CAC and farm machinery it is impossible for me to get the crop quantities I need for the cloud row because I have a life and work for a living. The rewards are uninspiring and the effort required for them is just too much.

Mir has summed it up nicely. I'm not willing to kill myself over this one. Can't say I won't collect a couple of easy prizes but not willing to restructure my entire farm and glue myself to the computer for the meager prizes offered. Thumbs down, BP.

This event is daunting and the prizes do not match the requirements. If you are going to put out a hard event, make it worth while to do it.

I very much agree with what Mir stated! There just isn't a real incentive to work that hard for less than thrilling prizes.

I was so hoping for a fun event following the frustrating Temple event.....but no this is equally bad if not worse.>:( We are being asked to grow an absurd number of event crops for paltry rewards for our efforts & time. I know some farmers enjoy the 8 hour crops(it fits better in a work day or overnight) but I do not. I like to check my farm every couple of hours. If, I have no reason to harvest for 6.5 hours, I tend to forget about it entirely. Or, I look for other ways to spend my time.......rather than play this game.:(
I feel we are being pressed to buy baskets or drops just so we may finish events. This equals an unpleasant passtime for me.:sleepy:
I will attempt this Mount Everest of an event...but if it is too difficult....I'm out.:wuerg:

For those who like a "hard" challenge, go for it and good luck!

For me: I'm skipping this one. Too hard, for too little. I'm very happy with some normal growing time now. Whoohoo for stocking up on everything.

And again, there is no machinery coupons as regular award. Also, I can only imagine amount of SG and manure needed to finish complete challenge. Very dissapointing. Skip this one, goin to fill the barn.

Thankyou BP, you may have cured my FOCD - I've decided to do little bits and I have no desire to finish the event due to the stupendous quantities of crops. So it'll be an easy event for me, not hard. That said I do love the crop graphics.

First, as always, I appreciate the effort the team puts into these events (all the many features, in fact!). I also appreciate teddy et al for their translation efforts.

Even so, while I am not quite as negative as the above, I, too, find that my personal real life time is limited. I plan on doing what I can, but I did not come to this game for stress.

Overall, I think the real reason for the heavy dissatisfaction is that there have just been so many events. If they were paced out more, I think folks would not be so unhappy. That said, any event that requires us to come in and play more than twice a day is going to be unreasonable for many people who work. Many can only check in once a day, particularly if they don't have a harvester and other bonuses.

Most buffs are to shorten time to harvest. This definitely makes a difference in completing many events. However, the time-shorteners don't really help if we are not able to check in early. I am not sure what the solution is. There seem to be some people who like the new faster pace, but I think you are driving off many of your older, dedicated players.. and I would suggest not attracting as many of those who will stay long term in the future. I have said it before. I stay because I want a casual, no stress, fun and easy game that offers rewards and challenges (occasional intensity is OK, just not regular). You have begun offering more challenges, in Baha and so forth, but the many events has become a detractor, not an asset. Sad, because individually, I like the events and can see you put a LOT of time and effort into the designs. Its just that there have been too many and so its hard to appreciate them all.

EDIT: because the mechanics depend so heavily on getting the correct bingo combinations, I really wish there were a way to "undo" wrong selections! I already goofed and as a result am only going to be able to complete 2 rows instead of the maximum 3.

This is the first event I am skipping in a couple of years. I just feel it needs more umph! more stars! more prizes, like OMG another Dove stall and I will have to buy so much bird seed, its getting crazy birdy around here. It seems to me that if the cloud row gave something rather than just experience points, that would have been more of an enticement. I have skipped it all day! I feel like I am skipping School, and hiding out at the Mall shopping on Amazon.

Mir's post has said it all perfectly :
I realized with the introduction of the Rainforest that we would be asked for additional event crops but there has to be a limit somewhere.
FOCD or not these amounts are just to much for the rewards given.
I enjoy the challenge of working the events but it gets way to boring growing these amounts of event crops.

  20. I share the irritation of other players about the sheer number of event crops required for so little return. I did get to level 3, only because I was bored, had what was required and just clicked to see what would happen. I think all I achieved was to get ccs and the odd single powerfeed!!

Like the others I shall give this a miss, I am a long-time and high level player - frankly, I don't need ccs, which seems to be the majority of prizes, nor the occasional powerfeed (which I can set my mill to do whilst I'm not around). The players who might find the ccs handy, probably won't have the resources to claim them and possibly could get more at the market.

I agree with Woody that there are too many events; but that's been an issue for years. When I first started, events were an 'EVENT' literally and happened maybe once a month, we looked forward to them, we loved the innovative designs and the fun of taking part in something besides farming. Many of them also didn't have an event specific crop, just what was grown normally on the farm, which gave a boost to the market. This need for every event to have one or two event specific crops, with very high requirements to donate isn't an incentive to do an event, it's a drawback.

The problem isn't that there are too many events, it's that they all require high numbers of event specific crops - which are of no use afterwards. When they first had events requiring a new crop, mostly these were then introduced to game, albeit at a higher level - but you got to keep any spares for when you reached that level ie crop squares and circles, orange tulips, lotus etc.

Ahh well, at least I can now concentrate on marking some essays.................................
