Pick a tree spree

Ok this is horrible.
Don't be fooled. I just gave 8 trees including a yellow trumpet for ONE rowan?!
Has BP gone nuts? How can they think this is a good deal?
Don't waste your BBs on this ....Oy Vey!

I totally agree @cylentlea. I did the same thing with a combination of trees and I got back a Strawberry. What a waste. The worst that BP has ever done. People, don't waste your BBs. I'm not crying........I'm STEAMING!

 

Ummm you are not giving any trees away. You are selecting which trees you would like to get from the seedling you buy.

According to the FAQ you are not supposed to give any trees away. The meaning is that you select which tress you would like to get from the seedlings you buy.

So Lea the result won't be entirely random but it will be one tree from the 8 you chose.

You are not the only one. I posted in General, but then went ahead and did a test. I used a Chequer tree, of which I have none, to be safe.

So, it is basically like a wonder tree, but you get to pick the ones you would prefer. I think Rowans are dominant right now, but that's as it may be.

I have just been cheated in the pick a tree event
I put in ...apricot .....peach ....medlar ....strawberry ....beech... christmas tree... ginko and got a GINKO BACK .... ANGRY yes I am for wasting my trees and 5 bb to get crap
I wanted a Dogwood and put in for one and thats what I GOT

 

Nellie you didn't waste any trees.
They are not taken from you
But I thought that too. You are just picking what you would like to have

Please select One rare tree ..... a ginko isn't a rare tree ....have had these trees for years

Why wasn't a ginko in the trees in what I had to pick from ...which was
a yellow trumpet ...Dogwood...Chequer tree

The Ginkgo is a special tree, not a regular farm tree - and it is not a rare tree, not even uncommon - it is listed in the mini event as a common tree.

Also, the Ginkgo tree can be found on sale in the Farm supplies for BBs directly, for 40 BBs....So it can be bought

 

A rare tree is a tree you can't buy for CC in the shop. So yes, ginko is a rare tree, it has nothing to with how many you have. You can't blame farmerama if you didn't know what you were paying for, because it was explained both in the FAQ and ingame (click the question mark in top right corner as usual). In any case you have not been cheated.

 

Lost my 15BB and never got anything close to uncommon or rare. All three were too common to be available...

 

I went back and took another look.
I bought some BBs from the sale and am now the proud owner of 2 gold leaf trees,
a ginkgo, a Christmas tree, mirabelle plum and a chequer tree!!

Yes, it can be bought for BB, not CC like I said, that's a big difference.

The word rare is used in two different settings here, which I admit is confusing. A regular tree is a tree you get access to when you reach a certain level, and you can then buy it in the shop for CC, for instance apple, walnut and maple tree. Or on bahamarama a regular tree is a tree that can be unlocked in the monkey temple for GB, like banana, coconut or the new macademia. A rare or special tree is simply a tree which is not regular. Rare might be the old terminology, the title of the FAQ now says special tree, but the headline still says rare trees, and you will find ginko in the list of rare trees there. That's what I meant when I said ginko is a rare tree.

Now in the pick-a-tree spree there is another use of the term rare. Three categories: common, uncommon and rare. You are of course right that ginko is not listed in the rare category. But you were not promised a tree from the rare category. The FAQ (and ingame info) clearly says pick 8 trees, get one of them.

It was, and you did choose ginko as one of eight trees, but you might have misunderstood how it works:

 

I've had a few tries, I didn't think of writing down what I got, but in general I think I'm happier with this than the older mystery seedling system. Even if you get a common tree, at least you have a chance of getting a tree that you may have less of. For me, it's better than ending up with more Catalpa or other common trees that were unavoidable. Just my opinion on my one farm
