Thank you all for clarifying how this event works and how we can use the probabilities given to improve outcomes. I would suggest posting bull's eye results, just in case it is possible to see any patterns for creating the best axe. While the faqs say the winning combinations will be changing each time, it could be possible for each rune to have specific combinations attached to them. Wishful thinking perhaps, but I would enjoy seeing the winning combinations to better judge how easy or difficult this event will be. I will be sending drops early and often as it looks like they will be needed in large quantities!

Thanks Aluntino :) According to shooger's answer here, there should only be 2 levels of chance. Once you've built the axe, the result is determined by how strong the individual components are.

I have studied the throws in the videos and have a theory about how the scoring is done. It is one of the simplest options. Each hilt has a value between 1 and 5, each head a value between 1 and 8 and each rune a value between 1 and 10. Then for the final throw you add the values for the hilt, head and rune. You get a minimum score of 3 and a maximum score of 23. In practice, since we can always find the best hilt, the minimum score is 7. If I am correct, the examples indicate that a score of 21, 22 or 23 will give 50 coins. This is my best guess based on the limited number of examples. I should be able to test it when the event starts (and I have grown some crops).

I have reconsidered my post, and found it not so useful after all. It does show how to maximize the chances of finding the best head and rune, but the goal is to get the most star coins. So what is best to do doesn't only depend on the chances of getting a better head/rune, but how big the chance of increasing the star coins is and the risk of getting less star coins with a random new head/rune. This will depend heavily on how good all of the heads/runes that you try are, and how the star coins are awarded. So I don't think it is easy to make general suggestions. If my theory is right (se spoiler), I can make a spreadsheet that calculates the best option for each mini-game. That is, you feed it your results from the test rounds and it tells you the best option.

It seems another fun, not so complicated, event to me.
After reading the FAQ and the excellent suggestions from fellow players I made up my farming strategy for this event within seconds:
I'll make sure to get a good start on drops with the first harvest when the event starts, then start growing event crops by the thousands.

The challence this time is as easy as it is: collect enough star coins to get CR, givers and all goodies I desire.

Wishing all the best of luck, best of happiness, best of everything else too.

    Keep smiling!

Thank you to all that assembled this Strategy guide! :)

Judging by the videos, the 2nd best rune and/or head is enough to get the 50 coins. That is, even if the 5 green dots are not fully lighted, as long as we have the 5th green dot halfway, it may be enough.

Also, it does seem that what makes the shot successful is the worst of three possible axe parts. That is if one of the parts has only three green dots (while the others five) that will count as all three have three green dots. Which seems a bit unfair...

    Let's see how it goes.

It does seem a very interesting event. But I don't like the idea of not knowing how many junk I have to plant. Again!... :sleepy:

Anyway, good luck to all!!!!!! :D

EDIT: Mir: I've seen your "Spoiler" post after I wrote this. One can only hope that you're right and everything is added up like you said. If not.... we're doomed! :eek:o_OxDxD

Yes that's right habalala :) it doesn't have to be complicated, after the 4 trial throws one can simply choose the best try for each component and one should get a descent result :)

I am just having fun trying to optimize everything, but that's not necessary.

Arq, I am not sure if the shot is determined by the worst component (if you look at the first throw in the DE video, the hilt only has one dot, but you get the third best result). I have another theory about how it works :p but we'll see :)

    Edit for Arq: xDxD

I just been studying and Analyzing Viking Saga FAQ. The Strategy is to get as many Star Coins as we can on Our 5th Axe Throw. The Skill is to Select Three Best component of The Axe Consisting of Head, Hilt and Magic Rune.

To be able to work out The Green Dots Values of Each Component Which can Range from 1 Green Dot to 5 Green Dots. The Max we can get from Each Component is 5 Green Dots. It is Very Important to Add up the Combined Green Dots Value to up Max of 15 Green Dots.

The Total amount of Green Dots Define how many Star Coins is Rewarded to Us on our 5th Throw during the Mini Game. I need to point out Throwing Accuracy has nothing to do with increasing the Chance of Getting More Star Coins.

If you look closely at Star Coin Reward Chart, The Reward is defined by Total Combined Number of Green Dots.

What I Explain here is just based on Assumptions on Bases Combination of Green Dots. Until we have Hard Evidence/Facts/Outcome of Axe Throwing Results

    Star Coin Reward Table Chart

    • 15 Green Dots Combination = 50 Star Coins
    • 12 Green Dots Combination = 40 Star Coins
    • 11 Green Dots Combination = 32 Star Coins
    • 10.5 Green Dots Combination = 25 Star Coins
    • 8.5 Green Dots Combination = 15 Star Coins
It Makes you Wonder that we have 8 Heads, 5 Hilts and 10 Magic Runes to Choose to Craft that Perfect Axe. But May come in Values Ranging from 1 Green Dot to 5 Green Dots. But some of them will have Values of 1.5/2.5/3.5/4.5 Green Dots As Well.

Since we have 10 Magic Runes to Choose From to Craft that Perfect Axe will we be getting at least two of them with Value of 5 Green Runes or just one of them is Value of 5 Green Runes. So to Speak we have 5 Magic Runes with Combination of 1,2,3,4,5 Green Dots, Plus the other 5 could be worth 1.5/2.5/3.5/4.5 Green Dots perhaps another 5 Green Dots or it might be another 1 Green Dot.

We will not know until we start throwing those Axes :p

I going to have to Draw out an Template Chart Per Mini Event of 5 Throws to help Decide to Narrow Down to Best Head, Hilt and Magic Rune for out 5th Throw. The Hilt will not be a Problem as we will be able to find the Correct Hilt on our 5th Attempt, Unless you get very Lucky to Achieve 50 Star Coins on 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Throw.

Just Say on 5th Axe Crafting Before we Throw it !! . Supposing we did not find an 5 Green Dot Head or 5 Green Dot Magic Rune. We would have to settle for Less. Or we could take a Gamble on our 5th Attempt, That Previous 4 Throws failed to reveal a 5 Green Dot part of an Axe. (Head/Magic Rune only) We do not yet Know how many star coins we would get if on Combination of 14 or 13 Green Dots. Would they be 40 Star Coins we shall have to wait and see ;)

I also considered this Mooboy, but it can't be true.

Here is a throw from the DE video, the combined number of dots is 9,5.

This throw is from the DA video, the combined number of dots is 10.

You can see that the one with fewest combined dots has the best result.

My theory is that the first throw is counted as: Head 7 + hilt 1 + rune 8 = 16
    And the second throw as: Head 2 + hilt 5 + rune 8 = 15

Therefore the first throw is best. This also fits with the other examples I have seen.

Sure thing meba! [IMG] Good luck Arielh!
I am disappointed that the goose is not in any of the items, so the sticker is a must :D

Good luck with your exams, Ariel, study hard, but remember to take breaks so your mind doesn't become too fatigued. I know you'll do great!:inlove:

Knowing I will not be able to fully participate in this event, I will concentrate on getting the various miscellaneous goodies I want (need that syrup to make me some pancakes:pxD), as well as the Don't Drop Any giver - love all dragon related items:inlove::inlove:. Maybe the CR too, tho if I don't manage to acquire enough coins I won't get too worked up. If I do get the CR, I can work on the other givers during G&T. Good luck to everyone, may your arms be steady and your axes fly true!:D

Many heartfelt thanks to 12ss12, -Mir85-, Mooboy, & Aluntino for some excellent strategy.
At first glance it seems a bit daunting, doable, but daunting. I like the breakdown on how to figure out which parts will be best. Can hardly wait to get started. The biggest question for me is to raize the farm again for just event crops or keep it as is. I think I'll give it 24 hours to see how many crops & drops I get, then decide to raize or not on the outcome.

A very prudent decision on your part. Our prayers and well wishes are with you. You'll breeze right through it.

I see your point, Mir. I have to say I quite agree. :)

Based on that logic, the worst result that can happen to us (unless we are very distracted) is 15 (out of 23). Which gives 25 coins. Above that, a result of 16 gives 32 coins.

Assuming we always find the best hilt (which is 5 points), if we're very unlucky we can get:
    HEAD -------RUNE
    1st - 8 -------1st - 10
    2nd - 7 -------2nd - 9
    3rd - 6 -------3rd - 8
    4th - 5 -------4th - 7
    5th - 4 -------5th - 6
    6th - 3 -------6th - 5
    7th - 2 -------7th - 4
    8th - 1 -------8th - 3
    ----------------9th - 2
    ---------------10th - 1
Finding all heads below the 4th best AND all runes below the 6th best in the first FOUR TRIES, AND still be able to bet on the remaining heads and runes and get the ones highlighted in red on the fifth try, I must say the odds of that happening is really much too low. One should be highly unlucky to happen that more than once. (If any).
So one can assume that we can get at least 16 points. Which gives automatically 32 coins minimum.

The border between 32, 40 and 50 coins must be found rather quickly. Because, that's what can make us risk for a lucky shot in the dark or not... ;)

    EDIT (again):

    For sure:

15 points (worst calculated result) gives 25 coins
    16, 17, 18 points= 32 coins
    20 points = 40 coins
    21, 22 and 23 (highest) = 50 coins

    Speculation:

    19 points is probably = 40 coins

Based on that speculation, the borders between 32, 40 and 50 coins should be those ones.

Anyway, good luck to all and may the Walkyria duck be with you!!! :)xD

RL assignments will not enable active participation in this event by me. Based upon my quick review of the FAQS and a review of the discussion above I find the event to be a very basic grow junks and dump event. Of course I never look forward to growing gazillions of junks anyway.

I find the opinions and discussions above to be quite useful and our forum is fortunate to have such fine minds and free sharing of strategies, thoughts and feelings. Thanks fine people.

There are rewards within this event which appear to be quit beneficial to farms of all levels. I therefore honestly encourage all farms to participate in this event regardless of future aspirations but in light of future aspirations.

I hope everyone will perform well. Go team go!
