Right now (unless I am mistaken), chicks get a message saying "player xyz" sent you a [chicken pen]. To a new player, this can seem pretty much like any other gift. (and they may wonder, as I did, why they cannot gift them, etc.) Its part of the confusion over mentors and what they do to new people.

How about saying "you received a special gift from your mentor -- a chicken pen" Or "you now have another chicken pen sent by your mentor. You will find it in your inventory ready to place. Should you wish to say 'thank you', your mentor would likely appreciate some mentor points which are free for you to send [link] or just say 'thank you' "

Adding in the theme... it would not hurt to say "you got xyz from your neighbor James Doe" OR "You got a gift from Mary Jane, on your friend's list". That way folks would know better why they are getting items and from whom.

Yes that would be great. When I was at the beginning I took a century to realize what was the mentor and why he was sending me all those gifts, and I didn't know about the sending points thing. I wish I had been more grateful...

woody Wonderful sugestion. Chickadees often do not understand the gifting . The mentor gift,, the neighbor gift, and that they can send gifts to mentors too

This is true Woody. I know I send in my welcome email a note that says I am sending u a tree, why, and how important it is. I have to be more consistent in my follow up emails. I feel embarrassed to ask them to send me those lil' love points///but i need to do that.

I've discovered an easy way of introducing chicks to gifting. Most chicks don't request a mentor so know nothing about the roost. First step is guide them to the roost. I send a message: 'Personalise your chick' with how to find the roost and introducing the other chicks there and the hen, which is me. Once I see in my roost that the new chick has been personalised I move on the the gifting process. Choice of gifts for them and choice for me. It works very well with those chicks that are playing regularly. I send them gifts they want and they send me love points. :music:

Not a bad idea! I am not sure everyone wants to personalize their chicks.. I didn't for some time, but a good idea.

My mentor explained to me how to personalize my chick, otherwise I wouldn't have known that. Just coming out of the roost not long ago I have to comment on the luv points. I for one did not know how to send them in the beginning. I think for most of us chicks, since it is not mentioned anywhere in the game we do not know there are "special" gifts we can send as well. I was only sending the pheromones at first until I realized where those precious luv points ya'll like getting was located!!! We chicks want to give our helpful mentors nice things too, I was so happy when I learned how to do that :)

Hi elimeno... they go into the hen house or roost. After I was assigned my mentor I never went back there, I was just gifting as I did my normal neighbors!! It was explained to me that I should click on the mentors icon and that is what brings up things like those luv points you all are wanting, along with sugar/salt, and something else but I cant remember what it is now!!! We are unable to gift things like trees or stables, no power feed either!! Hope that helps you and your chicks, they probably don't know to go back into the house :)
