Two boys ordered to same place (lovely people))... I was hoping I could provide different colours if I had 2 boys... BUT!!! They are twins!

Evening update... this little boy doesn't seem a worry at all (shouldn't say that to tempt fate) but he is looking good. His mother is a sweetie (Hector's mother). She looks after her babies well and is more than happy incorporating me into her rearing programme... :)

BP should have had a reindeer breeding challenge at the time of year that they are actually born!! :) I want lots of pretty reindeer on my virtual farm too!! :)

New baby Loki, not yet 24 hours old but already strong and very mobile.
Includes cameo's from babies Lexi (4 days) & Thor (11 days).

3 down one to go and so far an easy (ish) calving season.

I just love to watch them! Thanks for the video. It is the next best thing to having a chair nearby to sit and watch the herd and babies.

Have to upload videos to here via Youtube and noticed one (from about 20 months ago that I don't think you have seen).. It's Katya in her summer coat having a mad moment.. I think it is funny and a happy reindeer... hope you agree..

Another wet day here but all the babies doing well.
Ana hasn't calved yet but she is looking a lot more promising with udder wobble and a swollen belly so she should be earlier than I originally thought.
This reindeer herder is a lot less stressed than I was - the possible complications of the calving (possibility of losing mothers) and then the first 48 hours of the little ones on the ground, we have got through all that with first 3. I have had stillbirths, abandoned calves, mothers not feeding in the past - but this year all good.
Just Ana to go but she is a worry, not sure she is confident enough to look after her baby OR it may be the making of her... only time will tell.

Great picture of the babies in the Spring rain :) It will keep their pastures green! Good Luck with Ana!

I am happy everything is going well so far Karen :) Crossing my fingers for Ana as well!

Thanks for sharing the pictures :inlove: does the babies interact or do they mostly stay close to their mothers? And how is Hector doing in the other paddock? Still trying to climb the fence? xD

Wouldn't it be nice to live in one of the homes in the background? Such a view out the window!

The babies will start to interact (hopefully next week) but in their first week to 10 days their mothers are far too protective to let other calves approach. Can't wait for the babies playing. :)

Hector is beyond, he has worn a track along the fence line as he is desperate to play with them but his play is far too rough until they are stronger...
I am adding a couple of photos of Lexi's spots, they seem to be getting more pronounced. It will be interesting to see how her colour develops.

A long post today, I'm afraid as decided to add a video of close up of new baby Loki feeding and being stimulated by his mother to widdle. I am sorry that the camera angle is a bit graphic but that was were I was laying in the grass when they started feeding and didn't want to disturb them... A real up close and personal - I did try to crawl on my elbows sideways!
