Are you watching the first semi-final now? Most of them are very nice songs!
Hatzeva again congratulations for last year;)

Not to sound as ignorant as I am:p, but I didn't know what Eurovision was, so I Googled it and found out it is a televised song competition, correct? To quote one result:
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual singing competition among members of the European Broadcasting Union. Each country submits a song to be performed live on television and then votes for other countries’ songs to determine the most popular tune.

So judging by your comment, Ariel, does that mean that our own Hatzeva had something to do with last year's competition? Being as the Swedish singer last year was male, and I thought hatzeva was female, maybe the song writer or producer or something? Or am I completely off base (nothing unusual there:wuerg:)?

Spots what you found about Eurovision it's true. It's an annual and very old song competition for European countries but since last year Australia is allowed to take part too.
I congratulated Hatzeva because her country won last year and this year they host this competition.
Last Tuesday was the first semi-final and today it's the second. 20 countries from both semifinals go to the final on Saturday but 5 or 6 countries go dirrectly to the final, one of them is last year's winner.

Ah Eurovision. If you get the chance it is worth a watch; it is certainly an experience xD. For me it's not the same since Terry Wogan (RIP) hung up his commentary microphone:(.

Arielh, sorry I've been AFK for a few days - been down to "my" island for a funeral.

No I haven't seen any of the semi-finals, haven't had the time but I will for sure watch the real final on Saturday. Sad thing is because we won last year we will probably not win this year. How's Greece doing? Like I said I've no idea who's in or out this year? Fill me in if you you find the....what are you doing watching the Eurovision by the way, you should be studying ;)
Best of luck with your exams.

Spots, I read your post a moment ago and it's a long time ago since I laughed out loud at a post:

No I do not sing, write or produce: I just happened to live in the country where the best song was from, and that makes one proud. A bit like winning the World Cup in football, you do not play but is part of the honor and you celebrate.

Search on the tube for any eurovision memories as we are not allowed to post them here.

TC - I miss Terry Wogan! More for the "today's conundrum" with Terry and Carol Whaterman then the Eurovision

    P.S
TC, sorry! Just remembered it was Richard Whiteley that hosted "Countdown" (with Vorderman), not Wogan, sorry :)

    Thanks Hatzeva:):)
And I believe you can still win this year, I mean it may sound unusual but it has happened a couple of times. I think you have a very good song again, but I only listened a part of it. Greece for the first time ever didn't manage to go to the final! And I am not dissapointed because the song was just:eek:, so it's a good thing we didn't pass so we won't be any more humiliated... I only watched the first semi final and not the second so I only know half of the countries who passed. A lot of chances to reach high(from the first semi-final) have the Netherlands, Russia and Hungary and Armenia that's at least what our broadcasters said. I really want to see the final tomorrow and I think I will because exams start at Tuesday so it won't be a problem to have a break...

LOL Hatzeva I was going bonkers trying to remember when Wogan did Countdown! But Whiteley on Countdown... happy memories.:)

Just heard the UK entry; unfortunately as I am not 12 it doesn't appeal. I'm sure a whole bunch of teenyboppers will love it though :p.

Sorry spots... Yes TC you are right Ukraine won. Second was Australia and third Russia. But Russia had the most voted song from the public. The winner is the one who has the most votes from the public and the juries.

I didn't like it, there were other songs way better...

When I first read his thread, I thought it was about football.:p I am ignorant as I soundxD Thanks spot for explaining in block big letters. Now I know.

I am starting from 1956 winner list.

    **************
I skipped & went straight to 2016 final.
I liked the Russian grand final. I think its very appealing. Dress, song and everything is simple. But the set and others things are complex. I think that's why its appealing.

Yes, Arielh. I think that was what confused me.

Today I listened to old Eurovision songs. I liked Diggiloo Diggiley by Herreys. Its a swedish song- winner 1984. There is also an English version of that song.
