I'm new at mentoring and have 3 chicks. I send them a gift every day and sent a nice welcome message but they ignore me.:(
They have taken forever to go up to level 4 and are now all in the red. I won't mentor anyone again.

Its possible the mentor deleted you by mistake (it can happen to use, too!), but some folks who sign up to be mentors don't really want to help. When I asked my first mentor some questions, she responded that she did not speak English and.. "I don't do that... I just give gifts". I quickly deleted her and got another one.

Wish we could select chicks, but we cannot. I had a couple of chicks that gave me luv points. I think they were older players doing a test. I appreciated the points!! Unfortunately. they soon graduated. Most recently, I had a couple of chicks go up a level or two, but then went red and dropped off.

Please mentors make space for an active chick. I joined the mentor system yesterday and still I'm waiting. No one has come to claim me. Hurry, points are going to waste.

I wish it was that easy...especially if someone is asking to be mentored. A lot of us out here want chicks who want to mentored.

We have no control over who becomes our chick. All of us would love to have an active chick. I just got 2 new ones, but deleting them immediately would not be fair to them. I need to give them some chance.

That said, if you read through the strategy section threads, about making EP and so forth particularly, you will find you can do well without a mentor. Just keep growing chickens, selling manure, buying more chickens and you will pass level 40 in a couple of days. The gifts, while nice, can mostly be purchased readily. You have more to gain from leveling up than staying a chick in the hopes of a good mentor.

I picked up three new chicks in the last 24 hours. Sent greetings and a gift. So far no replies. I have to wait before deleting them so, sorry, I can't help you at this time.

Thank you mentors. I'm still waiting .... at level 7.

I've read this strategy thread and there's a lot for new farmers to learn here and elsewhere. My farm is off to a good start, making money etc but I'm in no rush to level up fast. Just take it slow and learn each level the new items that come along ... and I wish some company along the way. Gifts will be a nice bonus for me and I will give points when I can do that.

Woody - I know the system is random, that's been said many times here. I can't figure if there is imbalance, many more chicks than mentors? All I know is that I wait for a long time since requesting a mentor. I think I have a chance of getting an interactive mentor if there is movement in the system. Maybe I'm wrong .... but I'm certain this game has far more to offer than just growing chickens and selling manure. I'm doing that ... and far more besides ... I found the Restaurant quest and got the harvester for 48 hrs. That will keep me busy while waiting .. :music:

You are correct that there is more to offer. The reason we suggest that approach is two reasons.

First, you can level up rather quickly at first, but it slows down very soon. The amounts increase by multiples.

Second, there are several key features that need leveling up for you to participate. Breeding begins at level 21 (edited, thanks to bc ) , then Baha, then Artisan village. BUT... also key is that everyone's farm is their own. There is no set way to do things, no "correct" answer to how to run your farm. We all have our own styles and will offer advice for the various styles. No one here can dictate. We just give suggestions, mostly in response to questions. And... we do respectfully disagree a bit at time. Its just all part of the game.

I'd give my right arm for an interactive chick! If other mentors have inherited the number of blinking chicks that I have there probably is an imbalance between mentors and chicks. So far I'm gifting and messaging, collecting the pints from the full bar and then saying TTFN. I'm now at the point where I don't see the point in being a mentor so I'll leave it to those of you with more patience than I.:p

psst, woody, breeding begins at 21, not 20.

Have any of you leveled up to level 2 in your Mentor Shop. I am 12 points short of it. One of my chick leveled up to 40 and flew away. That was long back. But most of the time, all the communication was on my side. May be they do not feel comfortable with a stranger.

I got to level 5 and got the dragon pet before I quit. Just visited the shop again and found I have 1300 pts to spend, that will keep me in rent a hoppers for a few weeks, in my mind the best prize :)

I think of the hundreds of chicks I've, had I only had 2-3 good ones and about 12-15 who actually spoke more than a very occasional "thanks".
Last time I tried with chicks a couple of months back, 5-6 were flashing red when I got them and I had several reappear more than once, even though red
At least I had a few who managed to reach Level 40 fairly quickly, even if the didn't much.
Think I still have one as a neighbour who is upper level 80s now

I know I felt that way at first. Also, as I have said before, a lot of people will "stop in" to a game like this, play a short bit and then quit, probably before they even hear from us.

All of that will happen, but I still think we have an issue with people not understanding why we mentors are contacting them, what the gift deal is about and certainly they don't get the whole luv point thing. I have suggested that the training video be updated. Not sure if that will help, but if anybody else has ideas.. submit them. Who knows, it might work!

Update: I did get a mentor but I don't know when they arrived. No message or gift. I went in the chickadee roost and made my chick as cute as can be to show I'm active and need attention. But nothing, not a peep from the mentor! So I waved goodbye and now I'm waiting again, while my points slowly trickle away .... level 10 and counting ...
