Freya sure seems interested in the other paddock. Love the video of the babies chowing down. ;)

YouTube just showed me this memory of Hector (only about 8 months ago - not sure I shared BUT Wow has he grown way too quickly???) but will also TRY to add stills too.

I love the video, :) all the babies seem to be doing well. It is amazing how big they have all gotten
and how long their antlers are for such babies!
2nd Hector video! :inlove::inlove::inlove: He looks so soft and fluffy! But he is truly a "Head Banger!;)xD

Two videos today - how nice! The babies all seem to be eating well.

Regarding the demise of the Mega ball - is it the same things as a horse ball toy? Got some friends with horses and those balls are big and tough.

Arielh - my neighbor had four pups (sounded like fourteen in full cry:p), purebred dobermans.

Willow, yes the Jolley Mega Ball is a horse toy. The reindeer don't puncture it but the hawthorn hedges seem to. :(

Edit, just adding an image to make post more interesting.. MY "little Might" Freya, with her mother Ana (my unicorn) in the background.

We have two new "Feed Store Raiders" in training... The best photo is just Loki but he had help from Freya to make this chaotic mess within a matter of moments!

Editing previous post as I can't add a new one...

It's getting close to a scary, mad and sad time for us here.. I am expecting Hector to "strip out" any day... Once that happens my cuddles bunny will be potentially dangerous but my fencing contractors (to secure rutting paddock have left it to the wire - they are coming this weekend) if Hector has stripped, I may need to hold him on a bull pole for 8 hours... JOY!!! Next weekend the "Outlaws" are descending so house needs "mucking out" before, and the weekend after (27th) Thor and Loki are being collected by their new owners :( really not emotionally ready for them to go.. Anyway, weekdays I need to cut down a few small trees to create a structure for Hector to take out his hormone induced stress, move the field shelter in Rutland so that I can shoot feed over fence to Hector and his hareem. Spend time with the baby boys that are leaving me, way to soon, to hopefully have them lead rope trained. Scrub out drinkers in Rutland that I won't be able to access for at least 8 weeks... Follow the herd round to pick up pooh for fecal worm counts and worm if necessary (before we go into rut) and then just turn grey overnight worrying!!! Lets hope no Faramerama comps to compete in!!! :)

Well really Karen, could you be any busier!!? It is way too soon for Thor and Loki to leave:cry:
and maybe Hector will turn into a "gentle boy!":p Good Luck with all you have to do!;)
:inlove: all the pictures and that is quite some mess they made, too bad you couldn't make them clean it up too!xD

    o_OxDxDxD SC - too funny!!!!!

BohoKaren - Maybe being so busy will help with the approaching day when the boys go to their new home. :oops:So.....it was Loki and Freya that were responsible for all that mess??:music: I wish you much luck & safety with the beginning of the rut....especially with my favorite character, Hector.;)

    Not a reindeer post...

But just had a heartbreaking call but lovely at the same time.. (hadn't heard from Mark for 12 years.
A puppy I bred 15 years ago has just headed over "the Rainbow Bridge".

Brooke, he was the first dog Mark, his owner ever tried to compete with, he won and was placed in several Novice Field Trials and won a COM in Open Qualifier. Fabulous results for his owners first attempts.

Although Mark has had many dogs since... Brooke has always been his "heart" dog. and he still did a memorable partridge retrieve , season just gone (at 15 years)...

Brooke is on the left (I bred him but also retained his sister, who I lost 2 years ago and didn't know any of that litter of 11 were still surviving)...
I still have his nieces and grand nieces.

Sounds like Mark gave your puppy a wonderful home and a long life full of love. No breeder could ask for more. My condolences to you both.

are both "Over the Rainbow Bridge" now, but it sounds like they had a wonderful life full of love!:inlove:

Started to build Hector's "playground" today - a pile of cut trees so that he can take his (rutting) frustration out on them rather than the fences... Also useful for him & the girls to strip their velvet with. (Girls September, Hector VERY soon).

Keeping a close feel of the temperature of Hector's antlers. There is still some heat in them (ie they haven't completely turned to bone yet) so not quite ready to strip... When Boris was entire he stripped on the 30th July but never heard of another reindeer going into rut that early before, even Alaskan ones who are always ahead... Most of their boys are honorary already..

My fencing contractors didn't show today... hopefully tomorrow... It's getting even closer to the wire! I suppose it may be a good way of showing contractors to stick to their promised schedule or they may have to outrun an angry bull reindeer if he goes into rut!!! :) Not sure my insurance company will agree though! :)

They probably think you will lock up any "livestock" before they start work. If it were me, I'd call them to clarify. :)

Noelle, I have told them that adults need to be in that paddock to share fence line with weaned babies and that it was a limit time only to work in Hectors paddock... We'll see...
They have beef cattle and deal with bulls, not sure they understand the hormone overload of the rut!!! YET!!! ;)
