You are right spots, ming will be over moon with his bats.;)
Arielh, ThomasZalan, I think you both are right. We are having a scary event associated with Moonlight Mania in September. There willbe 2 spooky crops and worms will be the drop item. And the tree might be associated with it.

I've always been afraid of bats too, but admit ming that your love of them and the pictures you have posted of them has made me appreciate them more and be less afraid. Thank you for that:)

I think bats are cool. I once saved a little fellow. It was just lying on the pavement in the city when I came walking by. I thought it was dead but of course I had to check that out before I moved on and to my surprise it was alive - and didn't seem injured. So I took it up and walked home with the little guy in my hands - it looking up at me from time to time with those nice small eyes. The wings felt like very thin leather. It was a very hot day so I thought it might be thirsty. I tried to give it water with a little bit of honey and it took some and I put it up in a tree. After an hour or two it flew away.
Bye bye batguy :) Stay safe!

I have always brought home strange kind of animals to save - to the chagrin of my mom....that no always ended up a yes - once it was home nothing she could really do and I didn't ask until I was home:p

:inlove:Meba what you did is so amazing! I wouldn't be able to do it even if I wanted. I am afraid to touch any animal.:wuerg: I like to see animals but never touch them or play with them. All animals are nice and cuter from a distance:p Maybe it is because I wasn't raised having any pets...(I only had a rabbit for a week and a fish for less than a week)

That's why I play Farmerama! I could never have a real farm:pxD But we should never say never because who knows what the future brings?

lol Arielh. I guess you are right about being brought up having animals or in contact with some and therefore not so afraid of them. I did have a second thought about that bat but I figured it would not be so much different than touching a mouse - a mouse with wings :p and I have many stories to tell about mice and rats too :music: I have lived on the country side and had horses - and no horse stable without a mouse or a whole clan of them. :music: and then I guess I just can't keep my fingers from touching :p

meba - my daughter rescued a bat in just the same set of circumstances you describe. Of course, my heart was touched by it being injured and the sweet compassion she shows all wildlife but sadly he didn't make it even with all best efforts given.

I was brave enough to hold it and stroke its soft fur and wings but I'm more afraid of them when they are flying about

We have all kinds of things show up at our house that she brings home. I draw the line of legless things coming into the house. Eeeek!

xDxD Yeah I also like animals with legs better but not too many legs :wuerg: 4 is a good number I think. Snakes are nice to touch though but I don't like them cause I can't read them. I have also brought home many hedgehogs - even had one sleeping in my bed when I was a not so big girl - but big enough to bring it home xD

Ummm are we hijacking your thread now one two? so sorry.

I come from a family of "animal rescuers":D As kids we brought home little field mice, squirrels who had lost there mother and we bottled fed them. Little baby birds that fell from nests, well you get the picture! We had little bats that flew over the field near our house every night around dusk it was very cool to watch, so I :inlove::inlove: minglings' little bats and all the pictures!
@meba that was a very loving thing to do!:inlove:
@Arielh that is very sad that you had no pets growing up, trust me the little critters of the world are more afraid of you than you are of them!;) Also looking forward to the "maybe" new moonlight mania crops and event!;)

I, too, come from a family of "rescuers". :) My brothers were always bringing home abandoned dogs; some given to good homes later. Mom would just sigh, and set out another feed bowl when they arrived!:D

Once on a hunting trip with a group of guys, one of my brothers became very upset with a guy who was beating his dog for not keeping up with the rest of the dogs. My brother offered to buy the dog and the guy said it was worthless, just take it. My brother did, and that dog loved him for the rest of its life!

On a happier note, we once had about 17 abandoned cats at our house - managed to find homes for all. We started calling Dad "Catman" because they all followed him around!xD

Another post off topic. I can tell you that moles have very sharp teeth and bite as I found out when I picked one up as it came out of its hole. I dropped it very quickly!

Rodents (from Latin rodere, "to gnaw") are mammals of the order Rodentia, which are characterized by a single pair of unremittingly growing incisors in each of the upper and lower jaws.

Though both bats and rodents are mammals they are completely different orders. Bats are in an order to their own. For one thing bats don't have gnawing teeth. Most bats feed on insects. Other bats, depending on the species, feed on nectar, pollen , fruits and even blood. There are bats that feed on fish as well as mice, lizards and even other bats.
Their closest relatives are scaly anteaters and horses. (but they're still not very close to either) whereas birds belong to the class Aves. Bats belong to their own, unique order, Chiroptera, within the class Mammalia.

And new trees are always needed.:)
