Poor babies - they just don't understand. Like Pnp said, a food treat might be the key. Goodies in your hand instead of a hose! :)Hope the worming goes well.

Worming went brilliantly - they love me again :).
I had a couple of people lined up to give me a hand tomorrow but as I had weights on Freya and Loki, I decided to try to do them gently (ie by myself).
It went so easily that I "guesstimated" Lexi and Thor's weight (as the wormer I used has a widish weight to ml ratio). So all done without any real stress - Thor thrashed about a bit, so I had to clamp him between my knees but far less stress than 3 people trying to hold onto him..
Oral drench (in mouth) wormers are always, surprisingly, more of an issue than injectable ones!
Babies then got a hosing and Freya, almost, seemed to like it OR at least not hate it...

I shed a tear when I was given this mug yesterday and the boys haven't even gone yet! Will be a while before I'm brave enough to use it!

I am very happy for you that the worming went as well as it did!:D That is a nice mug, maybe you should use it now while Thor and Loki are still at your farm!;)

I am pleased that the worming went well for you. That is a very nice mug and very thoughtful of the person who gave it to you. It will bring back some wonderful memories of the great time that you had with Thor and Loki, and will remind you of what a wonderful "mum" you were to them.

What a thoughtful gift! I know it will be a source of happy memories once the sorrow of parting has faded. So happy the worming went well and they love you again!:)

Pictures today were dodgy as it rained and then my batteries went dead.
So I decided to share a video of Thor, Lexi, Loki and Freya's father (Monty) during the rut last year.
In the foreground you will see Boris and "baby" Hector - Sept 2015.

Great videos, Monty and Boris have nice antlers too! It is amazing that I believe it is Monty, doesn't get his antlers stuck in the fence as he is twisting his head around, stripping velvet I think! :p And just
:inlove::inlove::inlove: baby Hector! It is amazing how he has grown and thrived on your wonderful care in just 15 months!;)

Monty wasn't stripping, he did that a couple of week before... he was challenging Boris, who half heartedly said (Okay... but Boris being cute knew there was a fence between!) Funny you should say this but only today a USA's friends older bull has had to have the fence demolished to free him! Silly boys!

    Nice videos, thanks!

I'm glad only the fence suffered any harm with your friend's bull. :)

How scary to find your reindeer stuck in the fence! I can only imagine the injuries that could happen while they try to get free.

Hmmmn the Rut is very scary.
Katya went completely "off her back end", (ie couldn't walk) during the rut (calculations show it was the day she was covered). I had to jump through hoops to get her out of paddock without being a kebab.
But the most awful was my first Rut when Boris (before castration) chased Anya into a corner, she got caught up in fence, severed tendons and trying to remove her body from paddock with a raging bull was not my best day... :(
Fingers crossed for an easy rut this year...

It's the big day tomorrow... Get out the hankies, for me at least..
It's the day I wave goodbye to my baby boys.
Sharing a picture of my "helper" saying her goodbyes.. "Luna" has been involved with my herd for 2 months now since in school bullying forced her into home schooling... that has become learning about reindeer... :)

    Did you gain a baby??? o_O I count 5.....and 1 doesn't look like a reindeer. :music:
I will be sad right along with you Karen. One of the toughest parts of breeding....is having to say farewell to some of your babies. :cry:Tissues are at the ready...so is my shoulder and hugs.:inlove:

How nice of you to "mentor" another animal lover. I'm sure Luna & her family are grateful for her experience with the herd.;)

Brooke the extra reindeer is Freya's mother Ana (my unicorn) who has so far not been separated from he tiny baby. Even though said tiny baby, is the bravest of the lot... bless her! :)

How could anyone bully such a lovely young woman? :( I'm so glad you have given her a place to renew her faith in humanity! :)

We will all miss your babies but no where near as much as you will. Take comfort in knowing that they will be loved and well cared for in their new home. :inlove:
