Freya is looking good! When will you wean her?

Noelle, if she really was as big as she seems in this picture I would wean now but I think as she is in foreground she looks bigger than she is... I would like to put her mother into Hector's Harem but giving Freya as much time as possible.
Looking at stats from last year it seems the girls first come into season a couple of days after they strip velvet (224 days gestation). So my thoughts, for now, is Ana stays with baby until she strips... if Freya has hit 35kg goal then Ana can join the Harem, if not Ana stays with Freya... We'll see.. I bet she's nearly there already, as she was 28kg last Tuesday.. :) (She's just my baby!!! ;)

And what a precious baby she is! :music: I too had thought how big Freya was getting from that pic. I'm so happy that the boys made the journey fine and are doing well at their new home.;)

I think she looks fit and healthy. Her rear end looks close to the same height as Lexi's even if the front is shorter. She could be going through another growth spurt.

Nature can be really cruel. I did read that the National Park where the lightning strike happened has more herds of reindeer. I am thankful for that. If you look at the location, you can spell the word "danger" with some of the letters in it. For the faint of heart, don't look at the pictures.

Reindeer handled by birth have much of their travel stress reduced by being able to trust the humans that are with them on the journey, not to mention if they travel in numbers. :)

Thor and Loki in their new herd... Can you spot them?
    I can... easily..
I am often asked how to tell my reindeer apart... for me it is easy.

Well this year at least it is easy! They are the only two with just spikes! :)

What a lovely place Thor and Loki are living in, they look like they are enjoying themselves! :) I also
thought "Well they are the two with the smallest antlers!";) But have no idea from that picture who is who! lol:p

Well done Willow you spotted who was who!!! :)

Someone said the other day that Freya was really growing... I don't notice as I am with them so much but checked back on photos and she really is - she even has 3/4" antlers :)

I think I was one of several who mentioned Freya was growing. I also think I mentioned something about her antlers growing too some time ago. See, you just need to give her a chance. She's getting there. Thankfully with you as her protector, she doesn't need big antlers this year for fighting off predators. :)
