We are all so worried...thank you all so much for making arrangements to keep in touch - especially when you have so much else to deal with now!

Update

The hurricane has moved slightly East!! And has slightly lessened in intensity!! Damage to Florida has been LESS than expected so far!!
Now the hope is that it will not grow stronger again.

I'm so glad it has lessoned in strength.
Marly is up in the panhandle, near Jacksonville where it has yet to go
We are keeping her in our prayers that she and her family come through this ok.
It has been 100 years since Jacksonville has seen a storm like this~

 

Oh no!! Jacksonville is where they predict the worst flooding because it is very low land, and right on the coast. Oh, Lea!...Are you able to call her at all to keep her spirits up? That was a beautiful offer you made to them! I just wish they could have gotten out of there! Maybe, if it's not too late at first light...?? What do you think? Could they still make it? Or is the storm on top of them now???
Do you know if they're far enough away from Jax to be on some higher ground??

Was much relieved to hear from you Marly! Hang in there friend!

Jacksonville is getting hit now, lots of coastal flooding. The slight move east that farmlily mentioned really helped! Damage assessments are much lower than predicted, and the barrier islands will likely have the worst of it. Keep Georgia and the Carolinas in your thoughts and prayers because they are next in line.

 

YAAAAY!!!!!!!! I survived Matthew its still really windy but it is going to slowly decrease so we will be ok thank you all my farming friends for all the thoughts and prayers and well wishes they were very greatly appreciated lots of love and huggggssss sent your way and prayers still being sent to those still in the path of Matthew ( I'm going to get a tee shirt that says yaaay I survived Matthew 10/7/16 ) lol go figure my very first major hurricane and it was the worst one Jacksonville has had in 100 yrs lol

Very happy to hear that MARLYMAR,has made it through Hurricane Matthew and my family and friends just got their power back and all is well with them also! Thoughts and prayers going out for anyone still in the hurricanes path!

 

That's terrific news MARLY!!!!! I'm still praying for the rest of our dear farmers in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

 

Dear Marly, so glad you came through the storm ok! Glad your family and friends have power up sanddollar!
My South Carolina cousin called and let me know she is safe and out of the storm's reach, so I'm happy about that.

Hope others will check in with us on how they are doing.

Looks like my son and my Ex are going to get flooded by the storm surge/high tide. The eye of the storm is going to be a direct hit for them...and at high tide, too!! Fortunately it has been downgraded to Category 2, but they will both be flooded out. What a mess that will be to come home to!!

I have not heard from my friend. I had suggested plastic bins as well to her, I can only hope she was able to take my advice. Her name is Marie, so please send positive thoughts of safety to her.

I want to thank you for bringing 'Matthew' to our attention, and sharing your reality with our farming Community. It kept it very REAL. Today...we live in a world that is mostly "synthetic", and is sometimes quite hard to be emotionally in touch with sorrow and even fear...so intensely. You helped me/us to "feel" right along with you through your frightening experiences It has helped me to be MORE aware....much more deeplySuper glad you made it through the storm. Let there be another 100 years between you and the next one

O.M.G. we are so lucky ( BLESSED ) we just drove around our park and there was a LOT of damage there was a shed flipped upside down trees and limbs down skirting ripped off all kinds of damage. But by the grace of God we didn't have any damage to our place we had some plants and baby lemon trees that were leaning from the wind but that was it and we only lost power yesterday for about 30 mins. it could have been a LOT worse for us but it wasn't THANK GOD and all those prayers and well wishes from all my farm family and my regular family and friends really helped I am so grateful to have such wonderful ppl in my life as all of you my farming family and my regular family HUGGGGSSSS to everyone and I am really happy that others made it thru Matthew ok too and Marie is in my prayers I hope you hear from her soon and she is ok please let us know

 

What a relief Marly! I am so pleased you didn't have any damage and that your power was restored quickly. Now the massive cleanup and hopefully soon people can return to their homes.

I saw in the news that the hurricane has downgraded to 1 and that 900 people have died in Haiti. They showed a tall big tree getting uprooted. It was as if someone used a spade to weed out grasses. It went in just one go.

 

Haiti got it bad, at full strength. So sad!

All of you who are having bad weather I hope you can stay safe!
In Greece we also had extreme weather these last days and some places were flooded but I don't think anyone lost his life. Destructions though were caused.
In my place we had rain yesterday but we didn't have any problem. All the rest week the weather was very warm(around 27C) and I went swimming every day.

 

LOL!! Thanks 007farming!!(Sorry!).......It really gave us all a good scare!! (Who needs Halloween?!!?!!)
