Malala Charity event Strategy

Hi All,

here are my calculations based on the EN FAQs (23/11/2016 at 1:00 pm):

Tomatoes 312 give 10 gravel
Cabbage 415 gives 10 gravel
Pumpkin 495 gives 10 gravel
Aubergine 438 gives 11 gravel.

Total of fields 40 fields 1x2 and 35 fields 1x1

As far as I could see in the FAQs there are 57 gravels needed to reach ALL fields
and there are 41 gravels coming from the event tasks only. So the rest has to come from the event baskets to be bought.

Please correct me if I am wrong or if I have miscounted anything!!

I ain't buying anything. Disappointed with current event...

 

I just read the faq's once (I usually have to read them several times) but I think you win some gravel in there somewhere. So maybe that will help Well, I am a little embarrassed Knew I had to read that again. Maybe we can still donate crops even if we have finished that level and keep getting the gravel? Or maybe I have to read it again

 

As far as I have understood, Gravel only comes as a prize for the steps in the tasks, if you don't want to buy any baskets for real money.

It also states in the fAQ, that two additional prizes can not be obtained without buying the baskets.

No clonahmon, no need to shut up. Whether it is right or wrong, only if you post it some others may clarify. Many a times we look for help from our fellow players to explain to us in layman terms. Please, what are the 2 additional prizes ? I am too tired to scroll up and down the FAQ.

 

You've read it right clonahmon. The additional prizes are 2 GBs and 4 party tickets.
I don't usually buy baskets, but it's an excellent charity, so I'm in this time.

 

If I have read everything correctly, it looks like you will need to buy a basket if you want to be able to complete the event. Also, the Magic Stalk row is only obtainable through buying the largest ("Top Of The Class") basket.

Coming so soon after the pay-to-complete Picture Perfect event, this comes of seemingly wrong. However, that said, the Learn and Grow announcement states that "all revenue generated from the “Learn and Grow” event, as well as the fundraising campaign mentioned below, will be going to the organization to support girls’ education around the globe." So, I will be supporting it to help out a (in my opinion) worthy cause.

 

Please I don't understand, if I want to complete the CR do I have to buy all three baskets? (One for the CR, two for the additional givers)? Because even if it's for a good cause, 20 euros is too much for my pockets. I can buy a basket, but I won't buy all three

 

All you should need is the largest basket: it gives the CR and both the additional givers.

Also, as was stated earlier, in order to complete this event you will need more Gravel than you get as rewards. Therefore you will either need to buy the "Tree of Knowledge" basket three times to get the required extra Gravel, or one of the other baskets which gives the Mind In Bloom giver, which gives two Gravel every 24 hours. And if you are going to get the Minds In Bloom giver, don't wait until the last minute, since you will need six days to collect the extra Gravel from it (if my calculations are correct).

Just a note: There was a discrepancy reported in the FAQ. Other language forums are showing that it's the Tree of Knowledge giver which gives 2 gravel every 24 hours. But, as Roedyn said, buying the largest basket gets you the CR plus both givers, so you'll have everything you need either way, as long as you place your givers early enough in the event.
They've given us extra time with this one, which is great with the holidays coming up. And bonus: No Drops this time! After this year's HH, I really don't want to think about drops for awhile.

 

well, there are no drops. But with the seed dispensers and the seeds all with different growing times that is a lot of computer time and counting when to harvest. And only on one field.
I am probably going to skip it.

 

I agree, Roedyn, this is a worthy cause...so I will actually buy a basket. But that is the ONLY reason!

 

Even though I know I won't be able to finish the event bc I can't purchase the basket, I am still going as far as I can Only 1 field to harvest I hope everyone has fun with it as it is a very worthy cause Happy Turkey Day!!!

I just want to add that no one should feel discouraged about doing the event just because they can't purchase a basket. The only things you'd miss out on from the event itself are 2 golden bananas and 4 party tickets. No big deal really.
The items in the baskets are additional items with proceeds going to the charity. The cloud row is actually independent, as the FAQ states you can place some of your old givers that you have in inventory on it. So, you could do the event without buying the cloud row, or buy the cloud row and skip the event, if that's what you want to do.
I would do at least some of the event, regardless. It doesn't cost you anything, it has its own field, and it can't grow weeds. Harvest it whenever you like. Then you can get an idea of what this type of event is like, in case there are more in the future, and you may even pick up a few prizes. Why not?
This event kind of reminds me of the old Farmerama, with no buffs and only one field to work with. It really was a different game back then
