From the FAQ it seems that it will be an interesting challenge. The fact that we have a separate field for growing the event crops is a step in the right direction. I like that everyone starts off with the seed dispenser and 4 1x1's. I like that you earn the gravel to progress further and open more plots. I dont like that you can't open the entire meadow purely from game play only. (a count of the gravel given as prizes and the amount required as indicated on the FAQ to open the field appear to show a short fall that you need to make up for by buying the basket.)

But while it is a worthwhile and good cause that you should be commended for supporting, having the additional gravel you need to open all the field linked to a basket that you need to buy is a step in the wrong direction.

I have no problems having independent cloud rows for sale (ie not required for a current event) , or the sale of baskets going towards the charity, but making the completion of the event almost conditional on buying the basket makes it hard for those who are unable to afford it. Buying the basket should be an optional extra to make it easier and not a to penalty to those who dont.

I understand that by linking the cloud row and special dung and extra gravel to baskets you guarantee that a much higher percentage of people will buy them. But if that tactic is used again it may have the opposite result. Whereby people choose not to buy them. A long the lines of once bitten twice shy.

Well put FionaSky. I, for one, will NOT be buying any of the baskets. I have just slaved through the Picture Perfect event and used almost every BB I had to finish getting the CR and all givers. I wish I hadn't started that event and see this as a trend. So, I will play the new field to learn how it works (learning the game mechanism for the "next time" it might be used). Then, I will either make a direct donation to this cause or make a charitable donation closer to home. After all, there is need in my community too.

I agree. Making the basket necessary to finish is really unfair.
I am buying one basket ONLY for the charity cause. If this method will be used again I won't be doing the event at all.

BP you are so out of line with this event. I guess I'm not even surprised at there being an event where you had to buy baskets to get prizes. Now you have also taken away the benefits that players have earned to help them succeed in events; any enhancements also have to be purchased. With your obvious greed as of late, I do not even trust the charitable aspect of this. It just feels like BP trying to grab more money. That's my initial reaction.:cry:

I'll try out the new field and see how it goes. Not many crops are required, but it looks like only 40 gravel are given as prizes when crops are donated and it seems that more than that are required to complete the paths. I'll not be buying a basket just to get enough gravel. So we'll see!

I am boycotting anything that costs real money until BP changes the current trend of trying to force players to spend money to be successful in the game. I used to buy the subscription of BB and the tools (harvester, etc.), occasional PF and wonder stables/trees. I will do without all of it for now.

While I appreciate the attention paid to this wonderful charity, making purchase a requirement to finish this event seems a lot like blackmail, rather than a gift. Seems like taking what WAS a nice occasional element of Farmerama and twisting into just yet another money grab. I can donate on my own, and will, with no profit to BP. (and no.. I don't care if you are "donating all profits", though I don't see that you are... paying you still benefits you).

Yet another BIG FAIL on the part of Farmerama. Just more evidence that BP's attitude is to focus only on short-term gains, without regard to longevity.

I guess I can thank you for making my decision to focus on Thanksgiving and my son's football championship easy.

Team.. I hope you start a new game when this one wears out, because your talents are valuable!

The last couple of years I have donated a cash sum for the Water Charity (can't remember exact name) from all five of my farms. I am not sure I will buy a basket and I am also not sure how this event works and even if I have the time to complete it. It is much too complicated and would have been better to keep the donation completely separate. I feel I am being made to buy something I may not want just so the Charity gets their donation.
Please keep events simple with a slight interesting twist.

Well said, everyone! That is a very valet thing and I totally agree. However... I might get to that but first... I just want to talk about the :inlove:fantasy I had.
I had this :sleepy: dream... LOL

I jumped into the new event without the benefits of the FAQ this time. Let's say I think
"SCHOOL ROCKS"8) but ;)really I saw a new field perfect for the grove. The TREE is Knowledge?
so I checked out the baskets (I never do this, baskets are forbidden) anyway I see a whole NEW place. Awesome for newbies start from the ground up. For the kids, a place to learn (long thoughts on that subject, do you know how many of the trees we grow here on the farm that are poisonous and should be kept behind a fence. :p
{*golden chain* is a real tree} ) This new place... it's the place of Knowledge so I'm thinking AWESOME!!! finally, we get a grove for the trees. The basket makes it seem like or I just might have been dreaming LOL that this "Tree of Knowledge" would be the first of trees for this field. You know a permanent event drop tree. Then I wake up. What I find?, it is just an ordinary EP-TEP giver that:mad: right now you can't even place it near the school -on the event field. What's that????? I just donated money that I just might have tried my luck at the stables. So that's not the problem about spending the money (it was my choose) anyway... but I should be able to keep it anywhere I want!!!...
I'm hopeing they leave this field_________
    In this dream...
There is another basket. It's called "Minds in Bloom" I'm seeing Forget Me Not's as being the first of the permanent new flower (in hopes of never forgetting what we learn)

(as I said I didn't read FAQ) I see within this new place "event Dung" (I am more on dreaming that this is a new place, not just some "event" field that will disappear when the event is over)... hummmm a new animal for the children/students (we are at a school house) to care for and I know someone who would love (her farm dream) for the first animal to be a Llama:music: I'm just putting it out there. Who else is going to make the dung?

Ok, so what I'm really saying is... I do really like this field and how it is being "built" from the ground up (so to say). I think BP could do well to modified it a bit and leave it. Leave it open always for us to do as we will with it.

As for Fuzzle I haven't forgotten him in the slightest. I have big plans for him.!
I see down in the city the mansion was closed down. I think Wolly should get a nice European Cottage up there on the hill. Nothing over top a nice small comfortable cozy country cottage. One where we have to go through the door, go inside to get our daily prize. Just my thoughts anyway. I have more but for now, that's all...
For those out there that celebrate Thanksgiving... HAPPY THANKSGIVING
for ALL of you out there, May your day be Blessed!!!
I am thankful for the friends we have found here at the Farm...

    Playing around some more...
(*?*) really dislike not being able to see the event tree on the event fields

{*$*} do like that the tree gives 2 event drops but wish it could be timed down to at least to 12hrs or even 18 hours... 24 WOW no room for having to miss a day :(

[*!*] do the crops give drops too??? it would be nice

<^-^> trying to find out how to get the dung (without reading the FAQ)
    ==================================================
:::::: after reading FAQ's. Yes, I had to break down and read them to find out how to get the dung.
(@!@) and here is where I see :(they are forcing :mad:you to buy at least the "Minds in Bloom" basket, well that is if you want to speed things up at all. This IS the only way to do it is by buying the basket. -.-Nothing from the regular game will work. No bumper crops and no super grow etc...SMH Bad Form PB Bad Form. As Captin Hook would tell you Bad Form and he being a Pirate himself. tisk-tisk

(*?*) As for the event drop giving tree, it says it can be placed on any fields but Jack's (moonlight fields), but it would not show up in the inventory while on school property. >:(

This is a pay to win event. And then you try to pair it to a charity ? The lesson I learn is that nothing comes free, and the poor can not take part. Just before Christmas too. The case is good, the execution are not in the same spirit
I'm sorry, but you only look more greedy to me. Only surprised you didn't put a BB price on the water as well.

what could have made this fun was to let people have the chance for the gravel by completing, the CR as it is (deco don't fit) optional. As the deco aren't doesn't fit it wouldn't have the feel of pay to win. Just another cloud row sale. Normal drop basket (or gravel in this case), for those who want a less challenging road and want the option of paying (which is totally fine btw), the special manure I think it's ok that you want to charge money for. Again , it's not vital (or shouldn't be vital) for completing any event.

Buffs not working, okay as a change. It makes for easier production of events for all level farmers.

And I will repeat what I gave a feedback on last event (not that I think our mods bother to convey it): Events I think should be a challenge. Your revenue should come from mini-events, and features like premium membership, Harvester-helpers, special items/recipes not vital to the game play etc. Not mandatory to fully enjoy and play the game. If it does, you are losing me as a customer.

    Charity event bah - humbug

This is a charity event. Charging for certain items is okay with me.

I like that this is on a special event field. I don't remember which farm ID I used but I suggested this for all events because I don't like tearing up my fields. I hope you keep the field in the future for events but it will probably just be for special charity events. It's like the fairgrounds.

If you insist on moving Fuzzles and his daily login bonus here he can be inside the building with the clock.

    Wonderful graphics as usual.

Negative: My other farm purchased a basket and will be able to finish the event but this one will not because it will be short of gravel. I will not be able to get the GB's or PS's in the last 2 gift boxes. Don't think that players should not have to spend real money to finish an event -- either spend the money or put in the time or a combination of the 2.

The GB's and PS's could have been included in the basket; allowing those who didn't purchase a basket (with gravel) to finish the event while still giving those who did something extra.

I am happy with this event and look forward to doing it. As I am on a very limited income, I won't be able to purchase any of the packages:( Otherwise I might seriously consider purchasing 1 of them bc of the cause:):). We have been given plenty of time to do this event. Just need to figure out the right strategy;):p:p I do hope we have more positive feedback than negative. :music::music: We don't have to disturb our farms in any way:D:D so.......Good luck everyone and please just try to have fun with it;);):):)

julie1013, you are right. I had a busy 1st day, but I will kick back and enjoy watching the teacher move one step at a time (hope it does not rain). I had a little extra this month so I got the large basket. :)
It may be a PR ploy on the part of BP, but I feel close to this cause. :)
I plan to have some fun this week. Hope all farmers do, whether or not you do the event. :D

I like the field, and the cause. Will buy a basket Dec. 5...will not have money to spend here before that. I am unhappy that I could not finish the last event....but this new event is very cute and I will try. I do like the cr that I bought for the charity water and really liked the way it was done. Am really glad you are giving us lots of time, coming up with cash is difficult at this time.

  14. I understand why so many players are upset and feel some sympathy. However, I believe it's more to do with the general disaffection with BP than this particular event and the money required to finish it. It's not mandatory to either do or complete this event. If you don't want to or can't afford to pay for the baskets, then it's an event to miss, or just go as far as you can. I spend money on BBs for my ingame items and the tractor; a small amount for a basket and thus give to a Charity - if I wish to complete this event - is something I probably am willing to pay.

This is merely a personal observation, I don't normally buy the baskets and if I don't finish, c'est la vie. There are very few events that I really want to finish, mostly I just do what I can and if I don't feel like disrupting my farm, I either convert one or two fields or just don't do it.

That said, I find this a rather sweet, uncomplicated event - slow, but in a way that doesn't matter because it's not interferring with the rest of my farm; apart from the good intentions behind the Malala Charity donations. I had virtually given up on the Moonlight event because of the upheaval it entailed, now with the new dedicated field, I enjoy it again. This is similar, I like the idea of a new event field, though whether that appreciation will last if the majority of events (most of which seem to require specific crops) are of this type, which is a very simple grow and throw, advance, grow and throw. The rewards are quite limited and designed merely to advance the event not benefit the player per se.

I like the idea that all players are equal, though again that appeal is dependent on whether this is an occasional event or the start of a trend. I would not like and would not do, any future event that required dedicated crops, if the format was like this one. I remember when events used to introduce new crops, they could be stored for similar future events and / or were brought into play when one reached a certain level.

It would have been nice to have a new field, even if it was purely for growing crops, but I'm not sure that would work with a field required for event crops and which seems designed only for events - the Moonlight field does, because even though the crops are for a specific purpose and they can be used in FSQ, moonlight purchases as well as event rewards.

I do hope that that future events which use this field are designed in a different way, and that they will be more interesting in the progression. Otherwise it will be a novelty and the interest will wane quite quickly.

I've played this game virtually since the start and seen it go through several transitions and iterations, what I hope doesn't happen is that the game will become too dependent on introducing new unnecessary, backroom designer driven features that it becomes too time consuming for even those of us who've watched it grow over the years.

I like this event and for those who don't want to buy baskets, you shouldn't need to, almost 300 hours left to complete.

I also like this event :) I just :inlove::inlove: the little waving fox, and all the cute characters, and the veggies we are growing make for a wonderful farm scene! Great job on the design and graphics! I also like the concept of this event and hopefully we have enough time to complete it if we chose too!;) I think this is a wonderful cause, and I hope a lot of people can join in and maybe buy a basket of some size! Happy farming and enjoy this event!:D

There are not nearly enough drops. I'm was hoping that there will be surprise drops coming from the pumpkins. NOPE!! :(Now I am holding out against all hope that we will find drops coming with the harvesting of the Aubergines (the last OF). If not I am really not sure if I can complete this field. Hummmm
Just putting it out there BP it would be AWESOME if we could keep this land after working so hard to clear it off !! I'm just saying :music::inlove:;)

Nope no drops from the eggplant

whats with all these charity events ? parents should send their own kids to school.as my parents did .if they need a well ,well start digging just like they did in the old days. people should work for what they get. i know i did and so did my ancestors .and u bp u take all the donations then get all the credit. why dont u just donate the money yourself. most people on here are on fixed incomes . who's going to donate money to them when they need it im sure it wont be u taking up a collection for them.

I tried to contact the Malala Fund for more information. They have NOT replied with pertinent information:mad:Their website is useless.
Thus I will NOT be donating anything (buying of baskets) at all. If a company will not provide proper proof, how is it legal??
I am for the of helping others. Being that this is an English forum....I would have rather seen a rally for donating to those that are having to rebuild their lives from the recent disasters they have endured.
    Just saying.....
