Hi pug:). Usually the best crops are your longest growing crop. If roses are your longest, plant roses overnight/once event crops are done. Generally speaking, carnations are the best, but they're also way up there for level, can't remember which one tho. It's a good idea to work on refinements too, roses and carnations especially, as they can lessen growing time. As for animals/workshops, I'll leave that to someone else; I usually stick with carnations. Hope this helps!;)

53 drops to go. All crops grown with just 9 candy canes overgrown.
Will have the missing drops by tomorrow morning (putting out onions, hazelnuts and other long timers) to finish diamond of step 1 with the sticker. Then this event is finished.

    CR up and running YEAH.

This was a very relaxed event!! I haven't even ripped up the whole. Mixed fields with pens, trees and some fields, and still finishing early. I love it.

Congrats to all who finished already and good luck to all still going....Keep going, you can do it!!

    Happy farming to all

    @mazelpug

Refinements are basically extras that you get when you grow certain plants, and can be found by clicking on the farmhouse in all fields but the magic meadow. You will want to choose the last icon, the one that looks like a plant. Some examples of extras are shorter growing times, higher percentage chance of getting specific types of drops (hammer, for example), better results for your super grow, better results from water/manure, etc. First you must choose which plant you wish to get refinements for in your greenhouse. Each plant has a list of what refinements can be gotten with it. Once you choose which plant has the refinements you wish for (shorter growing time, better results with SG for example), you pick the quantity of plants you wish to donate, 1 try, 2 tries, or 3 tries. Depending on how much I have in inventory, I usually do 2 myself. Then you wait. Once the plants have "grown" in the greenhouse, you check to see if you got any refinements. If you don't get a refinement, you will always get something back from each try, be it a portion of your original donation, EP, or CCs, so it's not a total loss. Carnations and roses are usually the most talked about refinements, because if you have the good refinements on them, you can use them to get virtually guaranteed drops from a field full of comfort fields. Say, for example, we're doing an event, and I've got all my crops done, but I'm way behind on drops. I have carnation refinements that shorten my growing time when using water, manure and SG, plus I have cloud rows that shorten my time further (chestnut and flower CRs), and I'd take fruit cake and white innocence, so when all these buffs are active I can plant a field of carnations in comfort fields and harvest them instantly. Figure approximately 41 CFs for my field (I always leave trees around the edges), and that's 41 drops per harvest of carnations. To get the instant roses/carnations, tho, you have to have a specific CR, the chestnut CR, but the strategy still works without it if you have the flower CR, it just would take longer, approx. 12 hours 15 minutes. Using no CRs, but water, manure, SG, fruitcake and white innocence on CF would be 13 hours 36 minutes, and for the same set up plus Elixir of Life and Source of Life buffs you could do a field of CF carnations in 12 hours 14 minutes. Seems like a long time, until you realize carnations with no refinements in CFs using only water and manure take 57 hours 27 minutes. Oh, and you want to activate the Growth Boost Rune on the Tree of Wisdom, too. So if you have all your event crops but need massive amounts of drops, refinements on crops can help you get the drops you need in relatively short amount of time. Now that I've thoroughly confused you, lol, you can get all the information on refinements here: https://board-en.farmerama.com/inde...ion-greenhouse-and-refinery.10513/#post-35220 (under {FAQ}Plant Cultivation:Greenhouse & Plant Refinery in game FAQs).

    Thank you spotsbox.
I finally had success refining roses. For the first three (EP boost, Early bloomer, and Water love) I used the single pot, now I am using the 2 pots. This takes more time and uses more stock.
The thing that puzzled me most was - What is the refinery for? When you want to use a refined plant - Put the desired refinement in the refinery before you plant.
My budget does not allow the purchase of SG so I save up between drop events. Without SG refined roses still give more drops in less time with just water on regular fields.
Today I have Iris in the greenhouse (already got water love) in single pot, and roses in the refinery and on the fields.
Just keep trying, the success is worth the effort. Wishing everybody - Good luck!!

I forgot to say, my CR is up and giving. Now just the sticker. :)

    Finished, done!!
Easy peasy event, for beginners a bit harder to get the necessary drops without long timers I presume.

    Happy 3rd advent to all

What a great post, spotsbox! I'd like to add that if there's time left, I avoid using comfort fields once the number of drops does not vary very much from those obtained from regular ones.

This event was very good for beginners!

The wife and I planted the canes on one full field and two half fields. (We left animals up on the two halves as they help with drops and poo production). Once 7k of the canes were grown we both planted refined crop squares. The drops jumped from 10-13 to 26-39 per field per harvest. Very happy with the drop rate this time around!

End result, we both have the cloud row up and producing. Very nice event.
