So cute... since Twiglet and Lexi have returned home from the Christmas Tree Farm they are inseparable again. It's lovely that although I wean mothers' and babies before the rut in order to get the mothers in good shape before their next impregnation.
Three months apart means nothing, they still feel that bond. :)

Ahh I must be feeling better as I have been trawling through old photos... Can you believe that this is my Chunky Monkey Mischa at 12 months (when I purchased her) - she was a wild import and this photo was after 2 weeks of sitting in barn to get her to trust me.

But what I find is amazing is, I was told by said importer, that imports were far better, bigger, healthier... I believed then!!!
But judge for yourselves . Above, imported calf at 12 months (baby picture is Mischa who is now a very healthy - and quite rotund) below an English bred (by me I must admit) who is only 7 months... My guess is Lexi is almost double Mischa's weight at 7 months...

Sounds like you were getting a sales pitch. Either that or most reindeer farms aren't very good at caring for their babies! :D

Glad you are feeling better! :)

Wow Mischa is a beautiful lean baby! :) But you can see the difference in your farm bred Lexi! Both look very healthy but farm bred does appear to have more weight! Job well done again Karen! ;)

Had she lost her antlers already. It almost looks like she couldn't be 12 months. She looks really small.

Must be something to do with all the love and care you give your reindeer.

She had lost her first set of antlers as she was a lot older than my current baby girls - who will loose theirs in about 4 months.

Anyone thinking of a Take Away (Take Out) on New Year's Eve?... Hector was and he did it all himself. It takes the expression "Lunch on the Hoof" to a whole new level... ;)

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2017 from BoHoKaren and Luxlyk Reindeer.

Thank you BoHoKaren. That video of Hector with his lunch was priceless. xD He doesn't look so rutty there. :D

Happy New Year to all the Luxlyk family! :)

    Hmmn, hmmn, hmmn..
This young boy is for sale - same age as Hector although he hasn't been chasing girls around this rut but he will be an angry bunny come September...
Not as yet sure of his purchase price... I am in the market for another boy (to cover Katya) but was thinking of a male calf in the Spring, to cover her in a couple of years.
If I purchased this boy I would need to put in more serious fencing to keep two rutty boys apart before September...
Total cost would be about £5,000 ($8000) BUT HE is CUTE!! ;)

Haven't dared mention to hubby yet... Eeek

He certainly looks like a very handsome young man, not as handsome as the gorgeous Hector obviously! I wish you and your wonderful reindeer a very happy and healthy New Year and look forward to all your posts next year.

Yes he is so cute! Let us know if you buy him!
But when you bring a new reindeer to your barn don't the rest get jealous? Or how do they usually react?

Haven't had a reply yet to questions asked about his temperament, price etc... and to be honest I would love him but might be a little too much financial commitment for this year... We'll see head and heart are having a war! ;)
    But in the meantime..

Reindeer have a very good sense of smell and Mischa knew there was Moss in my pocket...
