When I'm looking at the recipe for carrot cake it says,
1)"... Carrot power gives your field crops a boost of 20% more EP for 4 hours." then it goes on to say,
    2)"More EP from
sowing seeds. Bonus: 20%. Time: 4:00h.
The first 1) statement means my fields will have the bonus when harvested? So I should make sure to 'eat' my carrot cake before harvesting? Right? I get that but then in statement two 2) it reads from
sowing seeds. That to me means the actual act of planting the seed.
(sow = plant & reap = harvest) I'm most likely taking the words too seriously but what I'm trying to ask is this,
Do I eat my cake before I plant my seeds or make sure to eat before I harvest my crops like CAC?
This is important because to get the bonus you have to make sure you know when to activate the buffer; I learned that with Pinkie Pie-Pie:p and major time lost with CAC. This buffer only last for 4 hours. real important to know when to 'eat' my treat.
Thanks for your help in advance.

With the Carrot cake, you eat it right before you harvest. Just like the CAC;):D:D
