Never a dull moment with the "Monster" Hector.

At least this video is cute, as yesterday I had to bounce a bucket off him as I was crouched down to take photos of the others and he crept up behind me and decided to put his front legs round my neck...... he loves me a little too much!

 

Awww Hector loves you so much he wants to eat up your scent!!!! It sounds like he was trying to give you a reindeer hug the day before.

 

Today it was Boris goofing around.

 

Good to the last drop! He was making sure he got every last bit of food! That is a great picture!

 

Does anyone remember Thor & Loki (Mischa & Katya's calves)?
I have had an update today.
Boys being boys, they are the best of friends but scrap. Loki keeps taking on Thor but poor Loki keeps losing bits of his antlers as he isn't as butch as Thor even though he is a chancer..

 

Great picture and up date of Thor and Loki! Playing will get them ready for when they need to keep the herd under control (if that ever happens!) Thor is just biding his time for when Loki chips away all of his antlers, then LOOK OUT Loki! It will be pay back time!

 

Sorry, no exciting reindeer photos to post (I even missed the start of Valentines Event )
It's the start of the build for the two new water troughs. Slab bases today - I am rubbish at that so a Luxlyk follower was the mastermind for that. Tomorrow (I hope) I'll be building the first of my "Taj" bases - my 4x4 is groaning under the weight of the blocks and ready mixed mortar that my back couldn't cope with unloading this evening..
Tomorrow I have a professional photographer wanting to take photos of the herd (hopefully I can share). As long as I can leave him to get on with it, then I can start the first Taj...

 

It is always nice to have some help with those pesky water troughs! Good luck on getting them done!
I hope this pro photographer, firstly shows up on time and secondly is not afraid of any of the antics they might display! (Hector) I hope he/she gets some real good photos for you as they are a beautiful herd!

 

I failed... I put off the major build with the photographer coming and then the rain.... Tomorrow good weather forecast, so hopefully..??

Edit I warned Pro photographer that he may get photo bombs and the occasional butt on his backside from my Monster... he got loads of both!!! Luckily he found it amusing!

Hmmn Just shows me how a decent camera will help... Click on Nature (the pro) took these two action photos & yet I was embarrassed that only the babies would play for him rather than the whole herd having fun... Must invest in a new camera that will zoom!!!

Wow, those pictures are AMAZING! In the 1st one you can feel the motion as they come at you! And the 2nd one it is just babies playing and they look like they are laughing!..just beautiful!

BTW, last motion images with their mouths open is the way reindeer loose body heat. If they get really warm their tongues hang out. Sometimes if you see them pulling sleighs (even in arctic conditions) you will see tongues hanging out and it looks as if they are distressed but not so, it is a natural heat loss strategy.

Think I have seen flutterings in Twiglets tummy too (so that's two girls now) but "might" be wishful thinking as they aren't hard kicks yet and that rumen is always on the move... We'll see.
