@joanc123 (Maine USA here) and just being able to meet Karen and her hubby and see the babies that we have been watching for almost a year now and the older ones Boris and Mischa,Twiglet,Elsa Katya,and Ana, along with the most famous reindeer of all Hector, would be simply amazing!
I know we would all want to hear about the visit and any photos that might be taken would be nice to see also! What fun that would be! I truly hope she gets to do it, and has the most wonderful time ever!

Lilac - I'm onto it, now... At this time of year I don't check emails daily. I'll edit if it hasn't come through but I hope it has and we can meet up ---- hope you have wellies..
Edit... seen and replied to your mail... don't wait till Summer... they look scruffy then! You live so close, come soon, see them at their best, and then come back again when (hopefully) we have baby Hector's but the adults will be moulting...

Updates... no new pictures today... I'll find one to add.
Unless you see him day to day you may not notice, but Hector's sheds are healing over and I think in the next couple of weeks he will show real signs of new antler growth, so they should be impressive this year.

I was belly gazing on Lotte today while she was eating, and while I didn't see anything conclusive, she whipped round and chewed at her tummy??? I later belly gazed at Katya, who is least likely to have a passenger on board, as she was on at another farm (with Mad Max) for a few days before I brought her home as I wasn't happy with their husbandry. I noticed Katya has chewed a clump of hairs on her abdomen too??? Reindeer hair is very fragile due to it being hollow....

This COULD mean that we MAY have 6 babies on the way???

Hopefully I will be able to belly gaze with you soon! 5 baby Hector's and a Katya baby would be fantastic.

 

ooooh, it is all very exciting! Fingers crossed for 6 healthy baby reindeer this Spring!

 

We'll see if the theory that if females drop their antlers early that they aren't pregnant.

Mischa has dropped one today, in the past it hasn't been until the beginning of April.

 

What beautiful babies you have BoHoKaren. I agree with everyone, Lilaclady is very lucky to be able to visit.

 

Let's hope that the theory is wrong and that Mischa is pregnant.

 

PS all, I still think Mischa is pregnant There's just so little conclusive info on reindeer, and that was/is hopefully a myth - we'll see..

Second picture is Lotte checking out the carnage but she wasn't to blame, I caught the culprit red handed.

Still, the mice will be happy this evening with beet scattered in four corners of the feed store.

 

Naughty Boris!!! But also clever guy....figuring out how to open the door without hands or fingers. LOL

 

Sounds like everyone will be happy with that mess but you! But with the mice, and Boris happy, I guess 2 out of 3 isn't too bad! lol

 

Welcome back to my quiet little world (just read through responses from NoServe's post) I can't believe how patient mods are!! But then that's why I would never volunteer!! Mods please delete above!!! BUT you are worth your weight in gold!


I have lazy lumps.
All but Elsa in photo, as she always stands and walks away when I approach, the rest trust me.. so much work needed with her but to be honest not sure how, yet???

And two of my "Ladies in Waiting". Despite Mischa's early antler drop I am convinced there is a little bundle of trouble on board each of them..
Mischa and Twiglet.. if they aren't pregnant, then they have "eaten all the pies"!!

 

I so agree with you Karen, not a job I would want either! Now for the girls, how exciting it is to see a total bunch of lumps just enjoying what looks like to be an early Spring day! Fingers crossed for
Mischa and Twiglet and the rest of the girls! I really think Elsa will come around in time, if anyone can get her turned around, I personally think it would be you!...You ARE the Reindeer whisperer right!?

 

Heehee thank you Sand.. hubby keeps saying that but I have so much to learn but that would be my goal..
I just giggle now as my rutting bull (Hector) is again my cuddles bunny.. just love these reindeer..

I love your "lazy lumps" pic!!! Awww what a way to lollygag the day away! As for Elsa, how about enticing her with special lichen bundles(from your hand) just for her? I find that giving treats to shy animals and then a few gentle pats or strokes on the head while they are munching developes trust.
I know, eventually, Elsa will come around. As sanddollar said You are "the reindeer whisperer"!
