It was wonderful meeting Lilaclady today.
I did take a couple of photo's with my camera but didn't ask if I could post them but I took photo's of her with the reindeer on her camera, so it would be lovely if she feels she can post them...

I hope you enjoyed meeting my (big babies) Lilac, and I hope you will be coming back to see the little "honkers" once the are born..

PS I have just seen a personal email from Lilac... she wants to share her photos... BUT!!! I have given her advice re Photobucket... but it might take a little while, otherwise she will email to me, I will share on reindeer FB and then can share here... May take a little time for 2 techno numpties to get this sorted! :)

Arielh, yes I was lucky enough to be able to visit Karen and the reindeer today. I think I am in love - with Hector! I can't thank you enough Karen for letting me come and visit you and your wonderful reindeer. It is so obvious how much you love and care for them, and how much they love you, and what wonderful paddocks they have. It was an experience I shall never forget. They are all fantastic, but I must admit I loved being "mobbed" by Hector and Katya for the treats. I can't wait to be able to visit again when the babies are born. Just seen your post Karen, if you have photos feel free to post them. I will read your email.

The photo's I took on Lilac's camera are more "up close and personal" and hopefully we can find a way of sharing... but in the meantime... I just took this for me... and Lilac has said that she is happy for me to post....
Once we can find a way of posting the fun ones from her camera, we will :)

PS Lilac has a little piece of Hector as a memento of her visit. A piece of his shed antler to either keep in a drawer or make into a keyring... but she'll always have a piece of my special boy. :)

Lilaclady has just sent these two by email for me to upload. You can see my "Little Monster" is doing his best to win her over. :)

I am going to put my memento in a frame so that I can hang it on a wall. It was really nice of Karen to give it to me, and it means a lot that it is a little piece of Hector!

Oh my gosh, to be so close to Hector and Lotte, that to me is amazing! That really is a once in a life time experience!:inlove: They are great pictures and the reindeer are coming across so very curious and gentle! I am sure they are both! lol
Great idea to frame your piece of Hector, just another very special memory!;)

I love the pictures of Lilac with Lotte and Hector. I think the last time we saw them both like that was as a 7kg premmie and her 3 week younger sibling, and now Hector is the resident stud and Lotte will have her first calf in a few weeks. Isn't it funny the difference a few seasons make to the memorable moments of the herd and it's individual personalities.

KAREN. .... wasn't Monty (?) the father of both of them that year?

You are right BLZ - Not something I would choose to do but it often happens in wild herds.
Sourcing a new bull for Katya and Lotte is proving to be a massive problem. Last year I couldn't find one at all. I had finally sourced a breeder that would do a calf swap with me this year (as no English bred available to buy and imports banned at the moment) but as of 2 days ago one of their Dairy herd (cattle) has just come back as a TB reactor. They have to now test their reindeer - who if positive have to be slaughtered, even if negative movements are banned.... so back to the drawing board. :( Not easy, I am afraid..

In the meantime, Katya's baby was kicking like crazy today. By the time I got my camera switched on and stopped Hector photobombing, it had calmed down considerably but you should be able to see minor kicks and movement (lower belly, close to the dark spot where she has chewed her coat).

PS you remember I was panicking about, what I was told, was a top London Chef coming to see my herd but luckily it turned out he was just a deer nut and not thinking about his menus!! Phew... I only knew his name was Brett but found out today he really is a "Top Chef". Ledbury's have 2 Michelin Star and been voted Britain Top Restaurant 3 years running... £255 for lunch!!! Now I'm wondering if he'll feed me in return letting him have a cuddle with my babies!!! ;) Worth a try!!! http://www.theledbury.com/homepage/

Trust Hector to want to get in on the action! I would definitely see if you can get a £255 lunch, although a cuddle with your babies is definitely worth more than that!

I agree with Lilaclady and Brookeham!:) Lunch would be just lovely and OMG I got to see the
baby kicking! How awesome is that?! I am glad he was not looking to add to his menu, not from your
    herd anyway!;)
