Congratulations! Yay it's a boy! Hector is now a dad! How very exciting to see those beautiful pictures of mother and new baby boy! Gosh I was really close to calling not only the 1st mum, but that it would be a boy too! It looks like they are both doing well! He is Soooo beautiful!

Here I go again but had to share now that he is dry and his markings are more obvious. Just a few of the many photo's (he's about 5 hours old on them).

He is soo cute! Congrats on the new baby reindeer.

 

I can not get enough of that sweet, sweet face of his!

 

He is absolutely adorable. Have seen the other pics "elsewhere" as well - fantastic. Hector must be one proud daddy, not forgetting Mischa being one proud mum!

 

Herd dynamics have been really interesting today. Ever since I sawed off Hector's old antlers (to lower his hierarchy level to let him gain weight), Boris has been In Charge, chasing Hector away from the girls whenever possible..

This afternoon Hector came to visit his son (not sure he knows it's his son so not over sentimental about this), Mischa shook her antlers (girls are very protective for a few days), Hector reared up and kicked in the air, Mischa challenged him by also rearing up and she won as expected - Hector moved slowly backwards.. But a couple of minutes later Boris came to investigate, while Mischa and calf happened to be in a gateway (remembering Boris is now the boss) Mischa was grazing and didn't notice that her calf ran toward Boris --- Boris turned tail and ran like a scolded cat!!! It was funny, wish I had it on video.... poor Boris frightened of a little mite!

He is just so beautiful, I just want to hug him! He also has very soft, kind eyes! Maybe the herd all just smell Spring and babies in the air and are now preparing themselves! lol

 

Yeah!!! The first baby has arrived!!!! He looks strong & healthy.....and so so so adorable!!!! This last shot of him looking at you.....reminds me of a certain cutie pic of Hector!!! Too funny, Boris being run off from Mighty Mite!!!!

I promise that I'll calm down until next calf arrives but it has been a long wait and so many wonderful memories today.

Thanks I got it now! Bath time and then a stroll around on the very wobbly legs! Mischa is making him work for his super! lol

 

Oh wow! Mischa let you get so close to her with her new born and the camera. Guess she knows you'll stop taking pictures of her under carriage now. Lol.

That little face is just adorable. You ever thought of doing a baby reindeer calendar Karen, cos your pictures are so good. I know that I personally would love to have pictures of your babies.

 

Mischa and Katya are stars - they don't let any reindeer get close to their babies for the first week or so but usually choose to calf beside me and never have any problem with me being right next to them and cuddling their babies - they even leave me to babysit and protect their babies if they need to drink or feed. The other girls babies I give more space to. (Lotte I think will be the same also but time will tell).
