New Baby reindeer to my herd

Congratulations and I hope all is well with Ana and the little one.

 

Ana's baby is a bull calf (male) 5kg (11lbs) not very good on his legs yet & I'm going to need to put coloured collars on them this year as they all may be pretty similar. Seems Hector's girls didn't want to pass on Hector's white blaze!

Thought while I was last out that Katya was starting too but she went to sleep.
Katya is a calm calver, so not expecting pacing but she looked as if she was contracting. Bringing up cud and contractions look very similar but usually followed by chewing - she wasn't chewing. Maybe just serious burps!
I thought I was having a couple of days gap.... Go back to sleep Katya!!!

 

Sweet little boy. Hector obviously wants to keep the white blaze to himself! Let's hope that Katya gives you a little break, you must be exhausted!

 

Awww, bless him and his little wobbly legs! He does look much lighter than his birth weight suggests!
Glad to see him up...kind of! lol They really do all look alike at birth! Fingers crossed Ana and new baby boy continue to get stronger every day!
I am hoping Katya has a safe and uneventful delivery soon!

 

Love the picture of the new bull. Reminds me of the scene from Bambi Does his weight make him the heaviest calf born so far?

He's heavier than yesterday's female but lighter than Freddy who was somewhere between (5.8kg & 6.2kg) - my hanging scales couldn't come to a decision as he was wiggling so much that the digital read out kept changing it's mind!!
New bull is a reasonable weight but he hasn't "hit the ground running" like Freddy and his sister. I'm sure he will be fine as his limbs aren't a problem. I have seen some whose joints go in the wrong direction for the first few days but his don't seem to. I think he's just a bit of a lazy bones and isn't trying to exercise much. Once he gets going he'll be off like a rocket! A coiled spring just waiting to take off.

PS I have noticed today that Twiglet's girl (possibly Lily but I'm not sure yet) also looks as if she has had her nose in a saucer of milk... Both she and Freddy have a white chin/upper lip. Where's Hector's white blaze girls!!!! Grrhhh!!!

 

Ana's little boy is tired from his journey into this world! I am sure as soon as he re-groups he will be off and running with the best of them! Maybe like Lilaclady suggested, Hector is keeping the white blaze for himself! lol You do still have a chance with Elsa!

 

Congratulations on 2 new babies!!!! Hector's being a greedy bugger with his white flag? Typical. LOL

 

Twiggy's girl I have now "christened", she has found her name... I was looking for a flower name BUT they didn't fit... I got to Lilly (if she was pale, maybe), then went on to Tigerlilly due to her markings but don't do "handbag dog" names... She hit the ground bouncing so she is Tigga... she bounces around paddock... I think it fits...

 

Well then Tigga it is! Going back and looking at her pictures I think it fits! lol Not that what I think really matters, but you know what I mean! lol I think she is a cute Tigga!

 

Congratulations on the new babies! They are beautiful. What a great name choice - Tigga - will really fit your lively girl !

The video of Freya was such fun to watch. She is adorable!

Can hardly wait to see the next babies!! Would love to see a little white Hector too......though they are all perfect just as they are!! It's so interesting to see them all!!

 

I think I may have found a potential new baby boy but it would have to be a bull calf swap for one of mine as a future breeding bull for both of us. I have known his breeder for several years and would be happy for a calf to go to her as she loves her reindeer very much. Jenny feels she has too many pale/grey reindeer in her herd and wants more darker colours. His mother happens to be an albino, you can see her in the background.

So keep your fingers crossed that I have more males as I need 2 for Thor and Loki's owners too.
Obviously it would mean that all boys have to stay healthy, so there's lots of if's and buts and it does mean I might not be able to get too attached to little Freddy but I may have found somewhere where he can be a "real" boy, or she may want a darker one? Mixed emotions... sob, sob, !

I don't know why but I think Katya and Elsa's calves are bulls. Only me being silly but I have been right with the first 4 - hubby says just lucky guesses!

 

Love the name Tigga! I hope that the other 2 are bulls, but most importantly that they are all happy, healthy babies.

 

I think you are right with Katya it must be a male as it is keeping us all waiting! Fingers crossed for more little boys and GREAT that since the boys have to go you have found great homes for them! Especially the ones that would go where Thor and Loki are! Is that the baby you could get in a swap? If so he too is just beautiful and has blue eyes!

Ana's boy has a name too now - Jeeves, as he seems reserved, intelligent and a calm gentleman I'm sure this will change, though.
I can't take close up pictures of him yet as Ana is being exceedingly protective of her boy. He walking about well today and breaking into a trot occasionally.

 

Like the name, if you have another boy will you call him Wooster lol!

 

Nice picture of Ana and baby Jeeves Oh yes, we want no baby before its time! If she is not due, waiting is a good thing!

 

Love the look of the blue eyed baby bull. Trying to visualise the babies you could get from him, Freya, Lexi and Elsa. Isn't there another really light female I am missing.

Glad to see Reeves is getting control of his legs. And love Tigga's wee pink tongue - so cute. Is Freddy still giving Mischa the slip?
