I kept Elaine (Ythanbank) informed as soon as Elsa started to go into labour, when he was born and 2 hours later when I knew his sex... By the time I could tell her he was what I had promised her (I had said the first male calf from Elsa was hers - and being so beautiful is a bonus) she was in tears.... he will have the best home ever. I just have to enjoy him, while he lives with me but know he will have a very loving home...
BUT the are always a worry for the first 10 days and I will still be on close

That is such GREAT news that she is as happy with this new baby boy as we are...and she gets to keep him one day! Happy and sad emotions! Fingers crossed the next 10 days will be uneventful and he will grow to be a beautiful strong bull!

I share everything on here... Maybe i shouldn't but what to share and what not to??? I don't know.
I had already emailed vet to come out to see Lexi for scours tomorrow (and Freya too but she is only mild)...
but this evening I am also worried about Baby Belle - it may just be a bee sting but her bottom jaw is swollen..... :(
I haven't had any major health issues for ages but the have all hit me this weekend.. :(

Karen, sharing is good, whether it is good, bad or worse! The good is when the vet is there he can check out all 3! Aww poor Belle, I don't even want to think what else might cause that swelling! As for Lexi and Freya I also hope it is just some stomach bug and a quick fix to get them back healthy again! Fingers crossed for all 3 and you too! When it rains it pours!:(

8)What an incredibly beautiful calf!!!:inlove::inlove: He almost looks like a shining star, or a puffy white cloud backlit by a full moon....he has such a gorgeous white coat!! I love the closeup of his face, and calm brown eyes!
Happy that he was born on the 29th as it is also the same day I was born, so I feel a little connected to him. Just want to huuuug him 'to pieces', and brush that fabulous coat till it outshines that star!!:inlove::inlove:
How difficult it will be to have to part with him, Karen....and how decent a person you are for being determined to do so.:inlove::):D
You keep your word, and that can sometimes be difficult to find in this world. Your Mom would have been soooo proud of you!!

Poor Belle!! She looks like she is in some pain, so glad the Vet is coming - for all the girls who need him!!

You truly do have an absolutely amazing herd, Karen - and it seems to just get better and better!!:D:D

I do hope that Lexi, Freya and Baby Belle all soon get better. I agree with Sanddollar, sharing is good.

Sorry folks, at this time of year my nerves are really frayed. Before the vet could visit, Belle's swelling had gone down so must have just been a sting, not abscess or bottle jaw and I had got Lexi & Freya back to normal dropping - vet has taken faecal samples just in case cocci lurking.
Was a roller coaster Holiday Weekend... New boy and mother doing well, so far... as is Belle, Photo..

Pleased to hear that everyone seems to be back to normal now. It doesn't hurt though to get the Vet to check them over, rather safe than sorry!

Glad to hear the worry is over and all seem healthy! Being on top of things, especially with so many little ones, is the safe thing to do.

What a gorgeous new boy! :inlove:May your generosity in giving him to a new home be rewarded with many more sweethearts to love.

He has a name - his new owners (Elaine and Scott) have decided on STORM. I kind of like that, as previously they wanted to stick to a theme of Gods or Planets... but for my "Snow Bear" they wanted Storm (maybe thinking Blizzard - but the think he is so special that he needed a name that fitted him) :)

That is funny as when I saw him for the first time I thought of Blizzard! I think Stormy is better lol BUT
Storm it is! Whatever his name he is just too cute!:inlove::inlove:

After Freddy's behaviour yesterday... Video was funny but thought it might not be appropriate to share here, I decided that he thought he was a BIG BOY now... so today he got a head collar... It will take him a couple of days to come to terms with it but bless him I got it round his nose while he was still laying down and he didn't stand until I tried to buckle it... :)

Oh so excited, things here happen slowly or fast... Tonight fast and no one has posted in the meantime, so an EDIT.
Just had news from Jenny that I can buy her bull calf Gandalf (picture posted earlier)... Just have the worry of their dairy herd having a negative TB test in August... BUT he is mine once their cows are clear... :) Happy Dance!!!

Would I be right in thinking that GANDALF has some connection to MAGIC, who I believe is another of Jenny's herd? Terrific name BTW but then I am a Middle Earth groupie lol. So definately a fingers crossed for the TB test.

Will he be able to join the rut next year or is it the year after?

Happy to hear your good news about Gandalf and just hope the TB tests are negative. I had to laugh when I saw that video of Freddy yesterday, had his dad been talking to him about "things" That photo of Storm is lovely, his little face looking up is so cute, and I think the name is great.
