Melon Madness Strategy Thread

5 starter seeds on 2x2 plots w/ CAC, SG & SSG makes 45 seeds on 2x2 plots w/ CAC, SG & SSG makes 405 seeds. Use 205 on 1x1 plots w/ CAC and you'll have the 1020 seeds needed for donation. You'll need 200 each SG & SSG for the 4 basic melons 1st round. Another 200 for the 2nd round, 100 more for the 3rd round & 50 more for the 4th! What the Monkey Queen gives, BP takes back.

 

Slight correction Dafodily - main and meadow can have a max of 44 2x2 plots, but the glade, rainforest and plantation are smaller, and can have a max of 40 2x2 plots. (...I think the plantation is smaller, but I'm not 100% on that.) If you use the Builder, it'll only put down 39 for some reason, so I always lay those out by hand.

It doesn't put your numbers off by much though: 396 seeds for the second harvest on the larger fields, 390 for the smaller. So, the smaller fields for the third planting will be: 390 seeds have - 184 planted=206 remaining + 736 (184x4 CAC harvest) = 942. So, four plantings needed in total.

Of course, if you have enough SSG you can save yourself a planting. Let's see... 78 seeds short exactly.... 2 extra seeds per plot... you'd need an additional 39 SSG per melon color to skip a 4th planting. (I haven't triple-checked that yet though. )

What I'm going to do instead is for the 4th planting, plant half the fields with one melon, and the other half with another. So say, yellow and black on one field, the other will be green and white. The smaller fields that's 92 of each, with a final total of 1218 seeds harvested.

While those are growing, I'll turn in the silver and gold levels for the first four parts of the FSQ, which will give me some starter seeds for the 2nd gen to get started on.


With water, manure, WI and SG that brings the time for the 8 hour base melons down to just over 2 hours, yes? I always manage to flub the numbers when I'm trying to calculate time reductions. I have it figured to take 15 hours to grow the 1st generation, haven't gotten far enough to look at the 2nd yet.

 

Euh.. I plan to save a bunch SG and SSG by skipping the Diamond levels in task 1 to 4. Those levels provide the dispensers I have no use for, not in the event and not afterwards. By skipping I do miss a very few EP/TEP/CC and 15 SG/SSG/STM.
Each skip is 410 less melons to grow (2*205). So instead of growing 1020 of each basic melon I'll do 610. Total save 4*410 = 1,640 on the basic melons! Seems quite a good save of time, harvests and SG/SSG investments.

 

Is that the only way to complete this event is to use all that SG and SSG? Or just the quickest way?

 

It's perfectly fine to do the event without any use of SG/SSG. Plenty of time.

Yea that Melon Magic does sound nice. BUt I don't know about this event, seems like a LOT of work. I'll start it but don't know about finishing it.

I, too, will most likely sit this one o-u-t. I'm so tired of events right now that another one like this is making me cross-eyed!! I'm saving my energies for the Cat & Dog event!! Should have about 1,000+ each by then...if I don't have to use my fields for crops!

 

When I wrote that, I was assuming there wouldn't be enough time to wait for the system to replenish the basic seeds, grow enough of the 1st generation melons to get the dispenser, wait another 6 or 7 hours for the dispenser to give you 2 seeds, grow enough of the 2nd/3rd/4th generation crops to get back to where you were before, and complete the rest of the event.

But after doing some calculations, it seems like the event should be doable in about 3 days, even after accounting for sleep. And it's even less if you're willing to nuke the seeds for more than just the first harvest. On top of that, this event is 1 day longer than the typical event (7 days instead of the usual 6), meaning there's plenty of time to go to work, have a life, and recover from what I thought would be a fatal mistake.

Guess it's true what they say about assumptions.

@Kessari I wasn't trying to say that all the required donations of 1020 could be grown at the same time. Just the quickest way @julie1013 to achieve the 1st round of melon donations. Of course you can do the event without using SG or SSG, just noting that the Monkey Queen's generosity was part of BP's plans for this event.

 

If Ive got my real life timings correct with work I will only need to use SG and SSG on each initial 1st growth of crops.
But all best laid plans dont normally work with me, we will see. As long as Ive got 1x1's in tonight after work on 1st gen crops I should be fine

Habalaba if you dont the diamond levels you wont get CR, if you dont want it then all good but us who only have a couple of CR's I will go for it for the challenge of completing event

You can't use Pumpkin Jam with CAC, I'm hoping Melon Madness won't have that problem.

 

I will skip Diamond level 1-4. To get the givers and CR I will do Diamond level 5-8.
Just saving time and resources on growing basic melons, doing the neccessary only

The day I left for my holidays, the Carnival Queen came to town! I didn't take the lappy, I only took a tablet so I couldn't set up the SOS thread. Thanks One-Two for stepping up to the chair for that one and to Julie for the Parents Day SOS thread

I had intended to do as little farming as I could manage (with my FOCD) and had animals and trees out so that it didn't matter if I harvested or not (except we don't get weeds any more so it didn't matter what I had out in the fields, old habits die hard!). I didn't even log in to my two baby farms - does this mean I am cured?

I didn't take the lappy and some things are tricky on a tablet. I realised (too late) that I could have done all that was necessary for the Carnival Queen event except the candy catching! Just can't do this type of thing without the whole screen moving when I try to move (or in this case slide) something!

I was extremely jelly when I saw what you all got from that colourful lady!

I did do a little of the Parents Day event but should have started earlier - a couple more harvests and I might have finished both the event and the quest ... oh well.

I too have been getting a little tired of these back to back events, always wanting farmers to buy more and more. I don't know when they will realise that there are three types of farmers: those who will buy whatever, those who will buy but selectively (and not if they are inundated with stuff to buy!) and those who will not buy at all. If they keep on with these events that require so much, two of these groups will get smaller.

Anyway, this event, no drops - good thing. Eight hour crops, not too bad. Number of drops required, do-able. Prizes are a little so so but the Cloud Row does look interesting so I am in!

Plus I am suffering from a new malady LERES (Lack of Exhausting Repetitive Event Syndrome).

That is new one LERES. Well we can only Blame Farmerama for that. Guess what we did complaint once or twice about long gaps between Events few years back. Now too many events

I will give this Event a go as i am a sucker for CR that gives special buffs

I will try avoid getting some of Dispensers, as some of them cannot be avoided cos they included some other wanted prizes

But will do this Event Trying to avoid using Dispensers as it say Dispensers only gives 2 Event Crops therefore need to seed one Event Melon Crop only get two Back. Just Wondering if we can use SG and SSG on Dispensers. As there is not enough Dispensers to Grow all those Needed Colourful Melons for this event

Firstly I will build up stock of 1020 (Black,White, Yellow and Green Melons) As we cannot be to careful to fall short on these Event Crops for Donations to unlock Ball Melons 2nd Tier Melons !!

I will try do the whole event just see how things go. I will use some SG and SSG to build up stock of Melons to fill up 2x2, then 1x1 Fields as soon as i can

About time no drops or Milling Needed Phew
