I think its personal preference. Ive just planted 2nd generation crops and with nuking growing time has come down to 2 hours so by time dispensers have given 2 seeds I could have harvested 3 times. So to me NO but if you want other rewards that go with them then you going to be stuck with them

not really. You spend a lot of crop to achieve them. But, if you give away too much of the melons (not the first type) you would need them to gain new seeds. The game will only book you new seeds if you're empty of the basic melons, not the advanced ones.

I think with this time frame and the amount demanded, there is time for a Whoppsie of that kind. I really love that. Whoopsies do happen.

Oh man, I started out with the smallest plots of land when, if I'm understanding the advice in this thread correctly, I should've started with 2x2 plots at first? I don't know, it's a bit confusing to me. I have never been able to finish an event yet. I was hoping I could finally finish one. I fell like one item short of unlocking the carnival queen before that event ended, I almost cried lol. Didn't even get to catch candy!

it doesn't matter that much gardengal. Kessari said it simple and easy in a previous event.

I too did 1x1, mostly due to laziness. It will be just fine. There are plenty of times to catch up on the whoopsies, so don't worry. It will be alright, I have a feeling you will finish this one :music:

Thanks for the replies on plot size. Glad I didn't hinder my own progress in the event. Hope I can finish this one!!

The first levels don't ask for huge donations and with 5 seeds to start those can be done in a very few harvests. The last two levels are a different story. Level 7 needs 2455 melons for two different melons and level 8 needs 5680 Dragon melons. At the start of these levels we won't have more than 3 seeds (gained from previous levels).
It seems to me, once these levels are reached, some measures are needed as growing that many 6hrs crops without any plan will take ages and most likely can't be done within the event time. I mean on 1x1 plots, 3 seeds will get you 6 seeds (after 6 hours), 6 will get you 12 (after 12 hours) .. not hard to imagine to make it to 2*2455 melons and then another 5680 melons will take MANY MANY harvests and a LONG LONG time.

My personal strategy on level 7 is to perform twice (*):
    3 seeds on 2x2, CAC + SSG = 3*9 = 27 melons
    27 seeds on 2x2, CAC + SSG = 27*9 = 243 melons
    243 seeds on 1x1, CAC = 243*4 = 972 melons
    249 seeds on 83 Comfort Fields, CAC, WI, FC, SSG and SG = 972 - 249 + (83*21) = 2466 melons

Comfort Fields take 24 hours, but White Innocense and Fruit Cake buffs and applying SG (plus water and manure) will take it down to 4:40 hours.
Comfort Fields also take 3 seeds each to get started and returns 17 seeds standard. With CAC and SSG applied the return is 21 seeds.

(*) Note that all steps can be done simultaniously -2 different melons- , provided you have enough space on your fields. When you apply SG to the first steps as well, you're really speeding up.

My personal strategy on level 8 is quite simular, a quick glance tells me it'll need two rounds with comfort fields.

There are many more options to reach the goal within the event time (continue with 2x2, 1x1), just be aware the last two steps need something extra. Avoid to use the full grow time for each harvest the one way or the other and do make good use of your fields, max out the return of your hard work!

PS. A melon a day keeps your smile going!
PSS. This was my 500th post on the EN forum :)

I don't usually use comfort fields as I save my SG and SSG for start up seeds in events. Plus I like to use extra EP buffs like Easter marmalade and Zucchini Apple bread in those gold buff slots.

I have been planting carrots or wheat in between each harvest so I can keep track of all the different seeds and see what I have vs. what I need and how many plots (and what size plot will work best for me) I need and that has kept me on track. I have finished all of the first 4 levels and the silver step of level 5 and 6 with another harvest due soon. I have sun and bee melons started as well so I think I'm doing ok. Nothing has been overgrown yet:p;) so still on track :)

I am doing .....level 1 and 2 and doing all of 5-6 and 8 ... for the things for the cloud row... the cloud row is all that I want from this event and the only things I will be able to do ...having things being done to the cottage I live in ...that's more important then this event is to me

It's Hay making time here ...keep seeing bales of hay going past my windowxD
