Bless his heart! Does he think that standing in a bowl of food is going to keep his feet cool lol!

Awww, poor Hector, I hope the other reindeer are making fun of him!;) Are you going to have to worry about Storm also? Hector really likes to get into eating!xD

Hector seems to be saying "it's all mine!" (the food that is). :music: Or he is staging a stand in the food revolt for putting that thing on his nose again. :p:wuerg:xDxD

Not Storm this year as he has Baby Fuzz which is quite protective and he is moving to Scotland in the Autumn but I have warned them that if they have sun next year, then he WILL need a shield.. Elsa I would like to put one on this year too but isn't possible at the moment, hopefully next year she will trust me enough. It takes a few years for sun to really damage white pigment BUT I'm on the case!

8)LOL, Karen!! I actually laughed out loud when I saw that photo of Hector!! There are soooo many sarcastic things his expression could be saying!! Poor guy - he's such a love for tolerating it!!
Oh! The thought of Storm leaving is just.............A-W-F-U-L!!!:cry::cry: I'm sure they must know what a super-special boy they are getting - and what a very special friend you are to them, to have voluntarily offered and given him up!!:inlove: I hope they will send you lots and LOTS of photos!!

Me too Farmlily... I am dreading saying goodbye to him and Freddie. Every single one is special but some are just a little bit more so.. :(

But this is the decision I made when I decided to concentrate on putting most of my focus into breeding happy, healthy, well rounded reindeer that would cut down (only slightly) on the wild scared imports that often end up in homes that don't understand them, can't cope with the time and understanding a wild animal needs...
My babies can settle into a normal (farm) setting quite easily, without owners needing to know loads about animal behaviour as they will love people, rather than being scared.
Forgot to charge my camera today, so only 3 photos to choose from. :(

Tigga's nose is moulting well. Wonder if she will retain the St. Andrew's cross on her face?

WHen will she get her head coller Karen?

Not sure BLZ, the new ones I purchased this year are way too big and the custom made ones I had made last for tinies are too tight around the jaw line, I have some good ones that fit well from the USA (second attempt last year) but babies need to be a bit bigger... I'm not winning on head collars at the moment.. :(

I've had the same scare with my horses at times. It comes from them being/feeling safe and comfortable in their environment (humans included)! I see them from the house and get almost all the way out to check on them before getting that "head up, what do you need?" reaction from them. Really gets the adrenaline pumping, doesn't it? :wuerg:xD

Well we drove a distance to find a saddlers (that was recommended) in order to find new head collars... Waste of time, so back to internet, just to buy at random different makes of foal head collars to see if any fit!

Hot, hot, hot here today. Reindeer started their day with being hosed down (they don't like it!), then to cheer them up Birch Salad and Storm made himself into an (ice cream) cone.. ;)

:inlove:Awww, Storm is just a sleepy baby!:inlove: Great pictures, you really get to see how fast all the babies are growing! Just a thought here Karen, could you take the general measurements that you need for the head collars and then get in touch with one of the collar makers and maybe they could make them for you! Not the "one size fits all" that seems to be out there!

Problem is that they grow SOOO fast that the would have outgrown by the time head collars were delivered.. I must have about 30 hanging on pegs ... must admit most are red to keep for best in the Christmas season... I have a few various sized for babies but not enough and my yearling girls (Freya & Lexi) need biggish girl head collars but they need to be pastel colours so as not to bleed on their pale faces (I haven't got any suitable... yet!!!)

As I recall from previous years they get harder to catch up when time for tending. Bet they are enjoying the freedom. :)

Farmlilly, don't worry he is still about. With the hot weather in UK at the moment not a lot is happening... I hose them, they hide and sulk and once again I haven't captured him... Just adding a photo of Freddy hiding under Wilma... They are just hiding in the shade (Wilma provided shade earlier but Freddy didn't think to try the trees or field shelters - he'll learn that the sun moves!) so not many good photos... :(

PS Farmlilly, just found one I posted Elsewhere, yesterday. Just to put your mind at rest. :)

8)Isn't that Tigga, with more gold in the coat and a light patch on her neck??
Actually, I am a little bit concerned about Jeeves - he seems more lethargic than the others. Or are there just some 'low energy' reindeer?
I always treasure all your photos...and none of them are ever boring!:) Thank you for sharing them with us!
