New Baby reindeer to my herd

Lesson for the "powers that be" NEVER mess with the BIG MAN! Great picture!

 

Love the picture of Hector in his summer coat, and wow, his antlers are looking great. The ladies will love him!

 

Haven't taken photos for a couple of days, just videos but I have stopped being lazy and downloaded via Youtube, so I can now share them with you.



Finding it funny that they have re-booked breeding reindeer to us "due to many complaints"... Were those complaint on other language sites, as here I only posted a silly about having the ear of the "Big Man" himself...... does HE have that much sway?

 

Ok I think I am losing my mind! The 1st video is of Elsa and Storm bonding right? not Thor?? And the 2nd video says "private" lol But I just Love Elsa's softer, motherly side!

 

You aren't losing the plot Sand, my bad, it is Elsa and Storm.... for some reason Thor is always in the front of my mind... IT IS Elsa and Storm. To be honest, the name Storm has never really fitted him but not my choice, so it doesn't roll off the tongue.. Whoops!

 

Not to worry, I kind of thought "Thor" must have been on your mind! I so understand that you did not choose Storms name!... He is just beautiful no matter what his name is and very precious too!

 

Lovely video of Elsa and her baby boy. It is great to see Lotte having fun after her sad time this year!

Just a quick comparison for you... Last photo I posted (Winter scene), Mischa is at the top of the photo & this is Mischa today in her Summer coat. Unless you know them well it is very difficult for others to realise it is the same reindeer.

And Freddy today who was wondering why I was laying on the ground (taking photos) both he a Freya thought it would be fun pawing at me - TG it wasn't Hector who has very heavy hooves

 

Mischa, winter/summer photo to me, really looks like two different reindeer! I just want to scoop Freddy up and give him a big hug! And it looks like Freya is working on those big girl antlers!

Had a Gandalf update today (the new baby on order to help Hector in the Rut - AND cause endless panics keeping the fences strong enough during those months!!) Heehee - stress to share next year!
He's growing well and looks as if he will always have white between his antlers Babies change so much in their first few months but Jennie says she thinks his skin is pink there ... I'll be looking for a sun hat next year!

 

I think Gandalf has very interesting coloring! He looks like he is going to be a very strong, healthy boy! I love that little tuft of hair on top!

In the Tolkien story, Gandalf went from grey to white but Jenny's Gandalf seems to be doing the reverse. Hope that doesn't mean that he will get bad as he gets older.

But then again, he'll fit right in with the stuff Boris and Hector pull so maybe it's a boy thing.

 

Oh give him time and he'll be causing havoc.

When the herd are in Home Paddock, mixing feed is always complicated but it gets tricky trying to get out of feed store when they have antlers too - we get very tangled!

Silly question but is your feed shed like the Tardis (bigger on the inside) 'cos you are fitting an awful lot of reindeer in that itty bitty space

 

Dreadful news today I am afraid.
I have lost my beautiful Freya from bloat, she was fine yesterday but at this morning's feed her stomach was showing signs of bloating. By the time the vet arrived she had deteriorated rapidly and died while he was trying to release the gas from her rumen.
She will be missed terribly.
Picture a couple of weeks ago before she got her new pink head collar.
