It will cost 750 star coins to get the new Hooked on Fishing 2017 cloud row and the 3 required givers (Net Fix And Chill, A Good Nap, and Sunken Wonders).


Event Basics

• Collect fishhooks, metal discs, and/or lure feathers to make fishing lures in the mill, and then use the lures in the mini game to catch fish. The basic fishing lure will yield 1 fish per catch, whereas the premium and deluxe lures will double or triple the number of fish per catch, respectively, while also increasing the odds of catching the rarer fish.
• To start fishing, select the lure you wish to use in the event window. Two circles will then appear, one fixed (divided into perfect/good/weak spots) and one moving (your fishing circle). The aim of the mini game is to get your fishing circle to land on the perfect spot (or as close to it as possible) by pressing the button when the moving circle overlaps the fixed grey circle and glows bright green.
• The type of fish you catch will depend on 2 factors: the quality of the lure used and where the fishing circle lands when you press the button. The better the lure and the closer your fishing circle is to the perfect spot, the fewer the types of fish that are available, thereby increasing the odds that you will catch the rarer fish.

• Once a fish is caught, it will be multiplied by however many fish that particular lure is supposed to yield (1, 2, or 3) and automatically added to 1 of the 7 different progress bars (one for each type of fish). Each progress bar indicates the number of fish needed and every time you fill it up, you will be rewarded with star coins which can be redeemed in the Angling Shop for various rewards.
  • Example 1: If you hit the perfect spot with a deluxe lure and catch a marlin, 3 marlins will automatically be added to the marlin progress bar. But since you only need 1 marlin to complete the progress bar, you will get 3 * 25 = 75 star coins.
  • Example 2: If you hit the perfect spot with a deluxe lure and catch an octopus, 3 octopuses will automatically be added to the octopus progress bar. But since you only need 2 octopuses to complete the progress bar, you will get 18 star coins for the first 2 octopuses and have 1 left over. That means you'll need 1 more octopus to complete the progress bar a second time and get another 18 star coins.

Notes

• All players will receive 1 free fishing lure at the beginning of the event to try out the mini game.
  
• The Magic Tree will only give 1 fishhook per harvest during this event. It will not give any metal discs or lure feathers.
• The old cloud rows (Gone Fishin' 2015 and Hooked on Fishing 2016) cannot be purchased if you've already won them in a previous fishing event.
  
• To improve accuracy when fishing, zoom in on the event window. You can do this in one of two ways:
  • Right-click inside the event window and select Zoom In. To return to normal zoom level, right-click inside the event window again and select Show All.
  • Click somewhere outside the wood frame and scroll up with your mouse wheel (or press the + key on your keyboard) while holding down the Ctrl button; then drag the horizontal scroll bar left/right and the vertical scrollbar up/down to find the area you wanted to zoom in on. To return to normal zoom level, click somewhere outside the wood frame again and press 0 while holding down the Ctrl button.
• You can also hold down the left mouse button and release as soon as you see your fishing circle in the perfect spot to make your clicks more precise.

I'm thinking going for the delux lure, seem to provide most coins for the drops. I want all 3 CR Which totals to 1550 Fishing coins (oh how I'd wished it was farm coins!). If I only get blow fish I'd need around 1757 drops of each Greed does come at a high price. Then luck should hopefully cheapen it, then ofc there's bad luck which will mean I don't managed to get a perfect throw every time... So I've counted on me being very skillfull with bad luck. Perfect throw - only blow fish.

Prepping farm by ripping out most trees, leaving the pens I've got, adding a few more plots. Did 1x1 plots in the hope the drops are plentiful, in that case 1x1 might give slightly more drops. I can always hope can't I ? I didn't do comfy fields + carnations, maybe I should have, but I want to save those SG.

Thanks zerodegrees! I'm a little sleep deprived so I may be off in my reckoning, but I'm thinking premium lures are the way to go. For 18 hooks, feathers, and metal discs, you get 6 fish, whereas the deluxe lure will only provide 3 fish for 17 each of the needed drops (minus the discs), so double the amount of fish received per catch for roughly the same cost in drops. The only real advantage to the deluxe lure that I can see is there's less chance of receiving undesirable catches with the deluxe, but I think I'd rather have more tries instead. @zerodegrees you're not the only one making that mistake. I noted down the same thing when the FAQ came ot. I wonder if the FAQ have been edited after we both saw it. Now I don't know what to do, I've removed trees, and fed the stables... dang, this really is throwing a spanner in the works

 

@zerodegrees Thanks again for starting the most informative thread! Another correction to make: Lures are also given out by breeding! Plus Metal Disc seems to be needed not for Premium only but for Deluxe as well

IF no lures are required for Deluxe it seems to me the Deluxe is the easiest way to go for, getting drops from trees and crops only.
Not sure if the FAQ is correct thou. Lately there have been more than one mistake in there...

 

You're right, @Moraine. I just checked and the FAQ was edited about an hour and a half after the it was first posted. I copy-pasted the info a few minutes after the FAQ came out, went off to do some other stuff, and then continued working on the strategy thread.

I already fed my workshops too.

@habalala, I wasn't sure whether or not to add the breeding part because I couldn't find it in the German FAQ. Wanted to confirm with other FAQs first before adding that part in.

 

I tried looking at the previous events and got lost. Too many things similar but not the same confuses me. At least we have more time than the preview calendar indicated, 28th - 30th June: Fishing V3 Event.

I'll probably use mostly premium lures (as I have in previous fishing events) for the same line of reasoning as spots. I will get more tries/more fish with premium lures vs deluxe. The other reason is that I will utilize those drops from stables as I have out bears for the anticipated bear breeding as rumored in grapevine. Towards the end of the event, I will craft any/all lures with the mixture of drops I have left. Last Fishing event, I got 2449 star coins which was plenty for what I wanted in the shop. It's possible that I just missed it the first time, but the German FAQ has been edited too. Hmm....

 

I haven't settled on a strategy yet - I am inclined to leave all my animals/workshops/trees where they are and see how I get on with the Premium lures. I may swap over to crops but it is so much more work ... we'll see how it all pans out.

I have created an SOS thread though I am hoping it will either not be needed - it is tricky having three drops. We only have a limited amount of gifts and we also have neighbours and friends that my need help ... oh dear, oh dear ...

I will be aiming for the CR and EP items to fill it, then it will probably be secret stables, trees then GBs ... or I might change my mind!

Thanks zerodegrees and others for the info on the fishing event. I really want the latest cloud row.

 

I will try to go for the two older CR and items, as I wasn't playing at that time. Getting a fish every 10 hours is imho well worth going for it, as a fish pond yellow needs space, food and 12:30 h without water.. and the old CR is cheaper than the newer one.

 

There's a practice game that some of us played around with during the previous fishing events to improve our skills before using our lures. I think it's on an unofficial fan site, so I can't post a link. But, if anyone wants to try it out, a quick google search of: Sommer-Event: Angel Training should lead you to it.
