Strategy: Hooked On Fishing

I copy the events into a notebook for easier reference and I tell myself to makes notes about the events if needed. Such as which lures worked best for me. Sounds like a good plan....but I never seem to make these notes to myself My farm is stables and trees so I am going to have to take some things out to make room for some crops. I don't like it when there is 3 drops to gift as I never seem to know which one I should send Good luck to all and may the big fish be hungrier than the little fish!!

 

Little over 20 hrs till start. If you wish to harvest your 20hrs trees at the start of the event, NOW is the time to plant them.

Edit: I just covered 80% of my BAHA islands with trees. I admit it looks quite tropical. I'm also suprised I still have a bunch of unplanted trees sitting in my inventory. Might add a couple of those once the extra givers I have out on the fields are ready.
The wait here for metal disks drops officially has started.

my farm is officially a mess, I've tried to exchange pens with trees, but no plan, and a lot doesn't finish until later. I'll leave those. Maybe I should do more crop and less trees, or the other way around - and what to do with the pens, I was in such a good pace with the quests. It is what it is.

 

wow I'm getting really dizzy reading all these strategy then they keep changing lol I really don't know how I should set up my farms to get ready I'm so confused

Settled on a strategy...Going for Deluxe lure....Tropical fields 100% covered with Trees...Mainland fields 100% Carnation crops

I made up my mind as well, going for mainly Deluxe, and Premium when possible.
As drops from trees usually are quite low, my main focus on initial drops = Metal Disk.
So I'll have both fields at Baha and Green Meadow at Mainland covered with trees. On Rain Forrest I kept the menageries, manufactories and about 8 long time pens like penguin and shark.
Mainland is for long term crops only. Rose Hip, refined Carnations, Spelt, Rye. Organic Cotton, Red Cabbage .. not decided yet.
Magical Glade is for long term crops as well but only a half field as I'll keep the menageries, manufactories and arbotoreum going.

Depending on drop rates I'll focus more on trees or crops during the event.
I consider the lure feathers I get from the big buildings as a bonus to make a couple of Premium.

All in all .. a bit of everything .. but far more trees as during 'normal farming'.

As anything is better as nothing, I'll also consider every catch as a good one!

ok I think I got it figured out I put my baha in all trees my rainforest in crops I put my mainland in 1/2 bears and 1/2 trees my other main field I put in crops and my glade is in crops and the fields with crops I have some trees I left in on the outer edges hope that is good lol I will tweek as needed thanks everyone for your help and thank you ZERO for starting this thread and ILLY for starting SOS thread

 

My plan is..I have no plan! I am leaving everything just the way it is..a good mix of trees, pens/workshops and 1x1's for the crops I need to grow! I will see after the 1st harvest where I need to tweak or just let it be! Good luck to everyone! I have "Gone Fishin!"

 

Yeah, I'm with Sanddollar15 - I'm leaving everything just the way it is. Every field has "some, some and some" so I hope to get a good mix of drops.

I have had good luck with these fishing events. Checked and both farms have both of the older CRs. I remember getting boatloads of extra givers with one of them, so I see they changed it to star coins - smart, as I remember with one of these fishing events, some people not being able to complete the cloud row because the randomness never gave them one of the givers.

And thanks to all who provided info for this thread, and Zero for starting it!

I know I have the CR from last year. I think I missed the one from 2015 though. If so I may aim to get that as well. Just depends on how well I fare on this years version.

As usual I plan on leaving my farm as as. Crops, Trees, & Stables kept the same. Should supply all I need.

 

Good Morning everybody.

I just would have made a BIG mistake. As usual logging in going to the news and wanted to get my loginbonus. Oh my oh my... In the last second I realised, that we get 75% bonus. So claiming it in the afternoon after event start.. phew

Have left my farm as is.Mix of trees, stables, a few workshops and a few fields. Hopefully that will be sufficient for a good drop rat

Add me to the list of those that have put longest growing crops, trees and pens to be harvested right at start of event then its a case of wait of see what drops are acrued. Then will keep it that way to maximise drops.

My Strategy, I have placed All 5 Fields with Trees as they take the longest to Grow, compared to Crops,Stables and Workshops. The Reason is there is no buff to reduce Tree times on Mainland, Green Meadow or Glade. The Aim is to get as many Metal Discs as i can on my First Harvest.

Then Leave my trees in Baha and Rainforest for at least another two more harvest. In which i can use Vial of Growth it reduces Tropical Trees times by 20%. On each of these Harvest will use Pineapple Cake.

On Mainland, Glade and Green Meadow i will be growing crops using refined crops and Fruit Mixer Deluxe and Tiki Timer, which it improve reap rate to get Fishing Hooks. Cheap Manure is huge help too

The I will resort to Stables in the Last Two Days this event. But I will add my Bear Stables into my Field after my first Harvest when event starts...

So will have mixture of Premium and Deluxe Lures for this Event.

I will be given out Metal Disc as Gifts at First

I learned something about another event, too.
From the FAQ: Tip: The mini game works the same way as the Mach-o-Meter (Renzo's Fair) - you can click first and release the mouse button the second your perfect circles are overlapping!
Now maybe I can score more than 4 coins from the Mach-o-Meter! Good luck to all!

 

Another information from the German FAQ:
You will get only ONE kind of fish, but several times, depending on the kind of lure you use. I thought, we could get different kinds of fish.
I haven't seen any of that in our english FAQ.. Did you?

 

That is how I interpreted the FAQ, but I don't think it said so straight out.

 

I have never played such an event, so it wasn't clear to me. But thank you anyway

 

Never played it either, it's my first. My farm is 1 year and 1 day old today I'm both worried and excited.

 

It's kind of ambiguous in the FAQ, but you only get one kind of fish per catch. Depending on the lure you use, that fish will be multiplied by however many fish that particular lure is supposed to yield (1, 2, or 3) and automatically added to 1 of the 7 different progress bars (one for each type of fish).

I gave some examples in the original post, as well as some other info that might be useful for first-timers like you.
