Snake Eyes- Strategy thread

Fields all full of long pens, workshops, trees and crops. been playing yatzee for a few hours to get hang of it yes im rubbish!!!!!

I believe I've worked it all out, I'll be making a complete post with strategy as soon as I can get all the numbers worked out. I don't think this event is going to be easy at all to complete all the steps. It will be a good amount of work to get to the CR, but it's doable.

 

I am not sure if its gonna be easy or not.... it does sound very good so far.. i think the only issue we will have is the drops... now i am hopin i can do all 74 steps... the rewards to me seem very great. Didnt count them but seems to be alot of farm coins and PF in it... doesnt matter I am shooting for the moon on this one...lol I just pray no matter how hard or easy this may turn out to be... I WANT THAT CR.....lol

 

I think it would be helpful if you included the time in the line with the event dates especially since you have added the Current time for us. Some night not know it or remember it.

As usual, compared to regular crops, the event crop does provide very good EP and thus is worth growing.

On a 2x2 field:
Peony (4h57m) = 31 EP
Gamer's Glory (5h) = 60 EP

Due to the short growing time I do not expect growing the event crop only will provide enough drops. Therefor, as soon as I made about 1/3 of what's minimal needed (say 4000 crops - two or three full harvests) I will dedicate *at least* 1 full field to long time growing crops to keep the drops somewhat in line with the crop. There's no point for me to grow all event crops first and then wait and wait and wait till drops come in.

The good news is getting the CR shouldn't be a problem with the length of the event. Completion on the other hand...depends on your luck, and that's only if the Drop Rat is good to us.

CR only Strategy:
Harvest 1 - Nuke 10 Seeds
Harvest 2 - Nuke 90 Seeds
Harvest 3 through 8 - Full Harvest 588 Seeds
Harvest 9 - 72 Seeds
Finish out with refined crops for drops.
6+ Days to complete, event crop is 4 hours with water. Needed daily drops of around 123.

Additional Steps:
For 100 Cup O' Dice we will need 29,000 Crops and 2,000 Drops. 4462 Crops Per Day (16 Full Harvests)and 307 Drops Per Day.
For 150 Cup O' Dice we will need 43,500 Crops and 3,000 Drops. 6693 Crops Per Day (24 Full Harvests) and 462 Drops Per Day.
For 200 Cup O' Dice we will need 58,000 Crops and 4,000 Drops. 8924 Crops Per Day (45 Full Harvests) and 614 Drops Per Day.

Useful information (The Math):
The video posted by @escalonilla showed that the first time bonus to be included was 100. There are 31 unique combinations, for a total of 2,900 Points. Assuming that every combination will be completed at least once, the number of points needed by players will be reduced to 22,100.

22,100 divided by the number of Cup O' Dice you play will be the average a player needs to complete all 74 tasks.
For 100 Cup O' Dice we need 221 Points Per Game.
For 150 Cup O' Dice we need 148 Points Per Game.
For 200 Cup O' Dice we need 110.5 Points Per Game.

Strategy and Theory:

Flush/4 of a Kind/Full House/3 of a Kind Strategy: The focus here is to always be rolling for a Flush, and get as many Flush, 4 of, and Full House as possible, accepting 3 of a Kind and Pair when things go bad. To use this strategy:

• 1st Roll: Keep any pair, 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, Flush, two pair.
• 2nd Roll: Add to your pair, 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, flush, or complete your full house. If you kept a pair and you did not receive any additional dice you may want to review your options. If a small straight can be made, then complete it and roll again hoping for the large straight. If there is a different pair from your original pair you may want to take it and hope for a full house.
• 3rd Roll: Cross your fingers and hope for the highest possible outcome.

Straight Strategy: The focus here is to always be looking to get a small straight using 2,3,4,5. This will leave you open ended to complete the large straight.

• 1st Roll: Keep one each of any 2, 3, 4, 5.
• 2nd Roll: Keep any missing component of 2, 3, 4, 5. If at this point you only have three of the needed dice you need to review your options. If the three you have are connected 2-4, 3-5, then it's still worth it to roll and hope for the small straight. If they are not connected 2, 3, and 5. Then it may be better to take pick up a pair and re-roll all other dice (if you're allowed). At this point you're hoping to get a three of a kind or better with your third roll.
• 3rd Roll: Cross your fingers and hope for the highest possible outcome.

It's not reliable that anyone would be able to obtain 200+ Cup O' Dice without investment and very little sleep. A very aggressive goal would be to aim for 150 Cup O' Dice. With 150 Cup O' Dice, a Flush Strategist who is able to obtain two Flush, two 4oaK, two FH, three 3oaK, and one Pair will be able to make an average of 148 Points Per Game Average. A Straight Strategist would need to obtain five Large Straight, and 5 Small Straight for 140 Points Per Game Average.


Considering this, I say for anyone not willing to spend money on basket/drops, we probably won't complete all 74 steps.

NOTE: There's really no way of telling how well the games will go in the players favor. I believe the above scenarios are actually above average/hopeful for the game. There could also be more bonus points somewhere, or the bonus points might be adjusted before the event goes live. Hope for the best. Good luck everyone! *edit* Doesn't look like there are going to be any additional bonus points unless an adjustment does go live.

NOTE 2: Daily bonus for tomorrow (if you haven't missed any days this month) is +1 Crops for 1h. If timed correctly this could be beneficial for helping acquire more event crops. So let this be a reminder not to use it until your crops are ready.

NOTE 3: I feel like this post is the bearer of bad news for the event. I'm hoping everyone remembers that we don't need to do everything. Each of us can play as we like. For some, it means trying to get everything, for others it means getting the CR and moving on to other things, and for some it also means skipping an event here or there to take a break or even work on other non-event related goals. I hope this event doesn't bring anyone down. Remember, the CR is the goal, anything after that is just something to do with your free time. Let's all have fun, encourage each other, and do our best.

It will take 8500 points to make it to the cannon and the upgrades. I'd be happy just to reach that. Maybe it's possible. This time we're depending on both the drops and the dice rolls to be fair/generous. Here's hoping!
This chart is from the Spanish forum (Google translated, I fixed what I could), and the same info is in the French forum as well. It looks like we will get 100 bonus points (once) for each combo we make, except for the nothing and pair category. So, a maximum of 2900 bonus points if we're lucky enough to get them all.

Thanks for posting the chart. I had to go on best guess with the nothing, and the pair. I'll update my post.

If we average 100 points per game, then it will only take an additional 56 games to reach the cannon and upgrades. I think that's doable.

With 5 dice, the "nothing" option is really rare, especially if you follow the strategies I've listed. The only way to get nothing would be to have a gut shot straight that you never complete. That would look a lot like 1, 2, 4, 5 after the first two rolls and rolling a 6 on the third roll. I'd say that's going to be pretty rare. The pair not getting awarded bonus points is a little disappointing.

 

Thanks everybody for doing all the workings out ... I was boggle-eyed yesterday when I first saw the FAQs and was hoping someone much brighter than me would get the ball rolling (or should that be dice!).

I am in a bit of a pickle over this one as I am working most of the time, basically just the weekend off - and then I have visitors - so may struggle to get the initial 40 Cups O' Dice. But I do like the look of the game so will give it my best shot!

Thank you all for your insight, tips, hopes and an extra thank you to Decree for really spelling it out for us what to do.
I like playing Yatzee, Sadly Lady Luck isn't such a fan of me playing. But before the event has started I'm full of hope. Haven't really prepped the farm, so initial drop is not going to be good.

 

45 full harvest over 6.5 days? Are you kidding me? That's like 7 harvest a day and each round takes roughly 4 hours to grow (ignoring the time wasted between each harvest and plant). So we gotta find 28 hours in a day for this event?

I got 142 drops.

 

90 drops from long crops etc. already onto 2nd round of harvest will have 1st lot of 1x1's in within the hour.

how is everyone else doing

 

I grew Rose Hip on all available 1x1 I had for the initial harvest of drops. For those I got an average of 60 drops per full field. Along with a few menageries and the such I got 155 shakers to start with. Not bad at all! If the dice are that nice to us as well, we'll be Rock 'n Rolling in no time!

 

Very good 12ss12! I only got 77.. My mind wasn't in the game and I didn't notice the event starts tomorrow haha even thougj I created the strategy thread So I had planted cornflowers in superfields.

Today accidentally I opened last weeks big gifts so I have +1 harvest for my crops

 

Not doing as bad as I thought then, 128 from initial harvest. Soon to harvest again, corn on the other fields. I know I could probably do something a bit longer on the other two fields. However there's something about time-drop ratio that makes me think sometime it's just as fruitful to harvest twice as just once. And if it makes my life easier...
