Thanks all. Still no reindeer pictures as catching up on chores.

BUT I do wish we had a R/L Harvest Helper Subscription!!! HeeHee.
The important visitor I had, the weekend before last, suggested I harvested willow from anywhere on his 11,000 acres! Today I got a chance to speak to his head forester and was directed to help myself to as much as I want whenever I want. This patch is in access of 20 acres and mainly coppiced willow so easy to pick. It might just be easier to put a fence round it!!

Jeeves continues to do well. (lovely "currant" output too).

Freddy is getting quite cuddly now - he'll be an easy boy for Ythanbank.

Great pictures. You will certainly see Baby Belle glowing in the dark in her new head collar!

It is nice to return to see all is well with the reindeer! Beautiful babies are growing right before our eyes and I just love baby Belle in her Neon big girl collar! So pretty! As willow said , what a blessing to get access to all that wonderful willow for your herd!

BLZ Sorry third photo down was Jeeves, my typing fingers and brain aren't always connected! :) I will correct now!!! He is doing "quite well" although not growing as fast as the others but he's fighting on...

Freddy pretends to be all grown up but I caught him feasting at the breakfast bar - haven't seen him feeding for ages and he has to kneel down now.. Look closely and you'll see that tail "flagging" too.

Well it's Freddy that wins the prize for the first broken antler this year and two head shakes and my splint was useless! :(

What has Freddy been up to, perhaps it was the limbo dancing under his mum that did it!

    Oh poor Freddy:(
How long will it take for his antler to be healed?

Edit.... it may not heal it's only ever 50/50 - it may need to be removed.

Well, not giving up on Freddy's antler yet. It can't be set straight but there's a 50/50 chance that it will calcify in this position. If not the secateurs will have to come out..
Problems to look for is the broken end coming through velvet or the swelling (from internal blood loss) becoming too excessive. The break is stabilised, with the help of a second pair of hands. As I am sure you can imagine, holding a baby still and trying to reset a bone and bandage on your own is rather tricky - I should have been born an octopus.
In himself, he is fine except just after bone manipulation. Bless him - guessing he was "hooved" by an adult.... Growing antlers are so fragile. :(
Hubby says he looks like "Wee Willie Winkie" but I think he looks smart with matching bandage and head collar!
