    Zombie Reindeer!
Boris is certainly getting his costume ready for Halloween.

Any new followers don't panic as it is part of the reindeer year, it looks painful but it isn't. Every year they trash their antlers in bushes to strip their velvet. Boris is a little lazier than the girls and has only just started..) In a week the red will fade BUT for now, he's planning on scaring everyone... ;)

I can lend him a black cat and broomstick as well if he wants!

Nice Video! Always fun to watch "Reindeer Games!":p I think Boris would look great in a pumpkin patch with Lilaclady's black cat and a broomstick! xD;)

Well Boris is now working on the "dreads". The redness (blood) is fading now but he's still stripping his velvet - those hormones finally working - he's looking far less scary :) Typical, scariness for Halloween would work BUT Boris' timing has never been great!

Most of herd back together - as above video shows.
The girls I have withdrawn from rutting paddock, if no calves next year, so be it (leaving Frodo on his own in Rutland) and Mischa in isolation in a stable and small run (under strict biosecurity) as I am awaiting bacteriology results from labs. May be a potential real issue introduced by Frodo that vet hadn't thought about testing for..
Only just found the courage to share and only time will tell. Swabs taken on Monday (but only from my request, not vet, so hopefully I am wrong). Just had back the first 24 hours bacteriology test from swab, so far negative, (TG) BUT that means nothing as the cultures need to run for several days.... I so hope I am wrong!!! Anyone into vet med, have a look at CLA - scary and the only vector is Frodo and he fits the internal side of this disease... https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/articles/caseous-lymphadenitis-cla I haven't attached some of the scarier info about trying to eradicate if this is our current problem..

Boris looks as though he hasn't a care in the world, unlike you! I am hoping that things are not as bad as you might think. Please remember to take care of yourself during these worrying times.

Ohh you know Boris... never a care in the world.. He just wanders through life at his own pace:) Got to love him!

We should all aspire to be more like Boris!!!!:music: Awww "not a care in the world" should be my mantra!. :pxD When did you get the raised feeding bin? I bet that's a lot easier for your reindeer to eat from!!!;)

I have several (three) in differents paddocks but you must be watching over my shoulder as I purchased another today ;)... not this one though but spent ages assembling my new one today.. Reindeer hoof their feed and water so the raised ones take slightly less cleaning and also are above badger feeding level to help prevent the spread of TB.. But they are very heavy to move from paddock to paddock, so I am now working on having enough in each field. :)

BoHoKaren, I love your patience with our ignorant questions and goings on about your reindeer. I can honestly say I am much more informed about reindeer than I ever was. I have you to thank for that. Many, many thanks. :inlove: :music: :inlove: :)

Aww, you just got to love Boris, with his kind and gentle face, even though he has scary antlers! lol:inlove:
I was wondering when those hormones you gave him were going to kick in as we say!
Hoping all works out for you and the herd, fingers crossed!:inlove:

Must say I thought an intramuscular of testosterone would have worked sooner - but Boris is one laid back kind of reindeer and it hasn't made him the slightest bit grumpy! Having to hide the remnants of the vial from hubby - he's grumpy enough! :)

Mischa's (and Storm's) abscess healing well now. She is now on Penstrep daily, as Betomax wasn't hitting it. Had a call from vet yesterday that Interim Report from Lab, that the first 24 hour culture of abscess extrusion was showing no sign... BUT not to breathe too easy yet as more growth time of bacteria is needed but I did get a few hours sleep last night...
I have read soooo many articles these last few days (usually in the middle of the night when I can't sleep), - unfortunately there is so little information about reindeer health that I have to work on other ruminants, and the last link I gave wasn't the best & I still can't find that one but to those scientific people out there here's another I found today. http://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/veterinary-science-and-veterinary-medicine/caseous-lymphadenitis
No photos taken today - but here's a "Blast from the Past" and only 4 1/2 months ago... Storm :)

Still hoping and keeping fingers crossed that all will be well. Pleased to hear that Mischa and Storms abscess are healing well. Try and keep positive! Love the picture of little Storm.

Hoping all results will be good on the tests. I did some reading on the issue. Please take care of yourself; you are doing all possible. You need to sleep and keep yourself in good order.

I love the sweet photo of Storm, and Boris is always a favorite of mine!
