Only 100 hours to go, equal to

25 Den harvests
AND
28 Bulb harvests (max 125 plots will produce 3,500 bulb)
OR
21 Herb harvests (max 125 plots will produce 2,625 herb)

That is without ANY idle time!

You have to do your own calculations on bar progress, bulbs and herbs to know how many of these harvests you need and/or can do.

- count the number of steps you need versus the amount of steps your dens produce now (if *25 doesn't make 100 you'll be out unless you upgrade your dens!)
- count the number of bulbs you need to achieve your goal versus the number of plots you have available for it. Need 1,000 with 100 plots = 10 harvests.
- count the number of herbs you need to achieve your goal versus the number of plots you have available for it. Need 1,000 with 50 plots = 20 harvests.

Now you'll know how many harvests of each you will need it's just a matter of getting it done, with or without a howling pumpkin on your side.

Beware it's max 28 harvests of bulb OR max 21 harvests of herb that can be done. Growing a mix of bulbs and herbs is possible ofcourse, just do not exceed the max harvests on any! If so, you have to adjust your goals.

To get the CR it's now essential to upgrade your den(s) every time you have 100 herbs and 8 drops otherwise you won't make it.

Personally I decided NOT to aim for opening the 5th field. Instead I'll donate the 440 bulbs needed for it towards the quest first. I want those goodies!

I opened the last field this morning. All 3 houses are opened. After your 3rd star is showing do you need to upgrade it anymore? I thought we were supposed to get extra steps on the progression bar for upgrading them? Am I wrong about that?

 

The Fairy Den can be upgraded 3 times, up to Fairy Den level 4 (progress = 3 steps).

The confusing part: the prize stars are full at Fairy Den level 3 (progress = 2 steps).

Best to check the tooltip and see what level your Den(s) are.
Den upgrades are an option, essential for success but not always needed!

 

You don't need to upgrade all dens. I used 300 moonlight herbs from the Mythical Fairy Tree quest and upgraded just one to level 4. That is enough, when you open all fields you'll be speeding 5 steps a harvests ahead. There is still over 3 days left so if you harvest 4-5 times a day you can easily complete required 100 steps.

So here is what I ended up doing... Focusing on FSQ
~Goal: The most important thing to me is the TREES and Givers
~I stopped opening land after I reached three sections, figuring more or less I could accomplish getting what I wanted by the time/work and event donations it would take me to open up all the land.
~I have finished Tasks 1 - 2 & 3 (I feel the donations were pretty reasonable. I didn't feel dread over any of the donations, not even the moonlight donations)
~On task four I have the Sarcophagus Tree and the Crimson Eye Creeper Tree, and now I have the Marshmallow Ghost tree. (I was able to get the sarcophagus tree planted about an hour or so before Jack's closed down.)
~On task five I have the givers Brain Biscuits and Tempting Candy, still need Trick or Treat. I have 113 of the needed 400 Moonlight Herbs.
Any tricks I get from the little houses sure is an added treat. PF - SSG - SG - Dark Queen Apple Tree - CCs - some TPs and TEPs of course and other good stuff new buffers and a few trees and I even got a Slim Pit Monster!.

When I'm done with the Quest ~~Goal meet~~ I will see about opening the rest of the land or what ever else there is to do within this Halloween Fairy Tale event. The confusing part

I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel for the CR. I've upgraded the first two dens to level 4 and am keeping the third den at level 1 - this will now give me 7 steps on the progress bar with each den harvest. I have opened all fields and am currently at 45 steps and have worked out that I only need 8 den harvests to reach 101 (32 hours in total if harvesting every 4 hours but there's still 91 hours left, leaving plenty of time for 8 harvests exceeding the 4 hour period). I'm not bothering to make any meals.

I'm not upgrading the last den due to the fact that the upgrades have not produced better prizes and the 9 steps for each den harvest will only give me one less harvest in total for the CR. I'm now just concentrating on venom bulbs to get all the trees in the FSQ. I'm only after another brain biscuits giver for the haunted manor, just because I appreciate the graphics and for this I only need a few more of the herbs.

This is the best method I've come up with so that I am not wasting valuable time planting unwanted herb crops. If I have time left over I might try and get another tempting candy giver and some PF.

For me Im going for the trees on the quest firstly then accept any prizes the dens give me. Upgraded dens are giving me prizes of a lower value than a level 1 den????????

Personally not my favourite ever event, it did state in FAQ's its a medium to hard event it should of also said slow and boring but hey we cant have easy events all the time can we

on a side note I see November callendar out with only the 8th and 20th without anything going on but as others have mentioned we are not obligued to do any event BUT.................

I am wondering how others are fairing? I am struggling with this quest. First I found the instructions lacking so I was confused...then it take forever to grow the crops...then u have to decide to get more land or increase the fairy kitty house....then there is the FSQ....

Kinda bored. how is everyone else doing? maybe I am missing something?

 

I've been harvesting the fairy den when I'm on my little farm sending gifts. I'm not really trying to do the event there, but will gladly take a free prize. Today I won a jackpot prize and this happened-

I don't even have baha opened there yet.
I'm still trudging along on my main farm. I followed Growalot's suggestion and didn't upgrade the 3rd fairy den. With every harvest I get 7 steps, so I'm on track to finish that part. I'm planning to go as far as time allows in the quest for trees and givers. There's still a little more than 3 days to go, so we press on. Plant, wait, harvest, repeat

 

Good Morning everyone..... you know i was thinking last night after BP messed with my game... you know they always do these things to us on the weekends with events and game stuff... now i will have to wait till monday to get a reply back from them and for them to fix thier screw up.. it was not mine..i am so mad at them right now i cant even type...

event well i have 3 lands opened... gonna try to shoot for 4 so i can grow more crops at a time..77 hours left of event..... i think its time to figure out what i need or can do... i want the trees/coins and if i can get the CR i will need them givers... i dont see a win win here...

i think what i am gonna do instead... cause no way can i be here till the event ends.. which means i will lose growing time or/and tree harv time... i am gonna have to make something up... and guessing it will be the tree.... will have to fix that after i do the quest... i got no other choice..
I am at 33/100 on the tree.. will have to get that 14 more times with 7 hours to spare... if i did the math right... if i am able to upgrade it one more time... maybe then it can also help... i forgot what the crops gave in time with water/manure.. so soon as i harv i can do one set then another.... i have 166 venom and 250 moonlight in stock... venom down so that's another 75. I can also check posts i know its posted here somewhere on the time of the crops with water/manure.. i just started this post before i looked it up.... now to check my other accounts and look it up.... be right back

Did you read the books?!?? Wow, Tolkien could and did describe every field(and flora&fauna), mountain and stream! I felt like a true voyager through those books... But for the most part, Boring!
If I did not care how it ended I would not have finished that journey, either.

 

All 5 fields open and all 3 Fairy Dens fully upgraded to level 4.
Still working on the last two levels of the companion quest.

Congrats zero! How in the world did you make it already! I did enjoy your picture I have finished with the venom bulbs as I have opened all the land and gotten all 3 new spooky trees from the quest. Too bad MM is over and can't put them out until next month.
I have completed 60/100 progress steps and am now faced with growing the herbs for the final level of the quest or finish upgrading the fairy dens. I think there may be time remaining to finish but the herbs growing time will decrease how many harvests I can get in in one day.

 

when u say the 3rd fairy den do you mean on the field to upgrade or so you mean to open the 3rd one on the 3rd lot?

 

Well I gave up (first time ever) and decided to do the quest instead. Would have loved the cloud row, but didn't have time to fully read FAQ and got very confused, then drops were abysmal so I just thought "nah". I have all the land open now to make crop growing quicker, but for me this has been the worst event in a long time. I have fed a total of 23 fairy houses - no way to finish so I'm just chilling on this one. Well done to those in with a chance and to the rest of us, maybe our FOCD has been cured!

 

I am at 44/100 on the fairy tree...was going back and forth between the quest and the tree...rather have the tree's from the FSQ...but this is another horrid event...so bored I actually was motivated to rake the leaves...Ugh
