I will "Happy Dance":music: with you Karen, as this is the best news ever!:inlove: I am so happy for you and Mischa, what a beautiful picture of her, but she does look a little thin! You do now need to go take care of yourself and hopefully get a good nights rest! Happy Hugs to you and your herd!;)

Karen, now that Mischa is sorted out (hopefully), how is Frodo doing? Is he sorted out as well and is he still eating and gaining some weight? Thanks for your time!;)

Our first booking, a fund raiser for a Hospice is on the 18th November. They asked which reindeer I was bringing. They laughed when I said it would be the first two who jumped into box for an away day!
They jump in through jockey door if I leave it open, don't even need to lower the ramp!

How cute is that photo!!!:inlove: They all want to go for a ride!!!!:music: On QVC last night...someone asked if female reindeer have antlers and the Host said no. HA..... I wanted so badly to call in and correct them....but I'm too nervous to call in to a live broadcast. Thank you so much Karen for schooling us about reindeer!;)

p.s. They were selling shirts with blinged reindeer motif's...very cute!

Were you tempted to buy a shirt Brooke? - if so we want to see it modelled! :)
As to QVC misinformation, I am sure that I wouldn't have been able to resist putting them right but then I do get "over involved" in reindeer for some reason. ;)

Sunday I have a big day on. Planning on lassoing Frodo (well dropping rope over antlers as have no lassoing skills), tying him to fence while I replace head collar, inject with wormer, vitamin drench. Hubby and friend helping as Frodo is still "armed and dangerous" until his hormones drop. And then worm & vitamin rest of herd (except Mischa as she was done 8 days ago). Mischa I have to wait till next week to do a fecal worm count next week to see if previous wormer is working. So depending on those results, Mischa may or may not need worming with new wormer next weekend. While we're at it then maybe change any reindeer that are going out into red head collars and try to remove dregs of velvet but most have dried on like glue :( . And maybe a manicure too.

But so much to do, I usually have released a "candidate" before I think ----oh I forgot to do??? but the main is worming and I won't forget that!

So much fun during The Holiday Season!?!!? Sounds like you need a clipboard with a check list. :music:
Of course you would need a dedicated helper just checking off everything you yell out. Wish I could be That Helper... :p

LOL....no Karen I didn't buy the reindeer shirt(it was in a color that looks awful on me)....I did get the black with a blinged out Xmas tree on it. I do put out silver & gold reindeer (paper mache) for Xmas. Now they have much more meaning to me because of you & this thread of your lovely reindeer!:inlove:
Boy...you are a busy lady!!! Good luck with Frodo!! ;)

"Lassoing" Frodo sounds like fun!! Like joan123 I wish that I could be a helper. If I moved a bit closer maybe I could be! I am sure the reindeer love going to the beauty parlour to have their hair and nails (well antlers and hoofs) done. Sounds like Sunday is going to be a busy day.

Oh boy... Got a lot done BUT not all by a long way...
Mischa was the first, administered vits and trimmed first hoof but she had trampled in pooh so decided to ignore hoof trim for today as didn't want contamination for injections - so hoof trims will have to be another day
They all knew something was happening so were very wary.. On the positive (ignored manicures) Boris, Katya, Lotte, Belle, Tigga all got worm injections & vits. Mischa vits only (and one hoof trim) but need to wait to take fecals on her on Wednesday.. Twiglet I got this afternoon - punching better than Ali, as she a wild one - she doesn't take well to injections... BUT a MAJOR positive, caught Frodo, replaced his head collar, wormed and vit drenched.. He may be a skinny boy but he is the only one hormonal and really potentially dangerous.
Twiglet may give serious bruises if she can see a needle but not really dangerous...
I still have Lexi (who has dropped her head collar round neck) and Elsa to inject neither are easy BUT getting there. :(

Twiglet and Lexi now done, just Elsa being very elusive... a waiting game to get her in coral as she knows something is happening... herding reindeer is not possible (think herding cats on speed) just doesn't work - I have to wait till I can get her cornered...
Just had an enquiry for Thursday - I hope they get back in the morning as I have to get a second handler to drop everything! I wish people would enquire little earlier!

Lotte taking on her Pagan side.

Lotte is still such a sweet looking girl!;) I love the "bohemian" horn decoration she is modeling.:inlove: Good luck with Elsa. Is she still un-friendly? Or has she realized you are the feeder....thus head of the herd?

Eeek....someone called for a Thursday visit??? On a Monday??? Maybe you should have a "procrastinator rate"?:music:

Love the picture of Lotte, is she "going to San Francisco with flowers in her hair" (shows my age!)

Elsa caught up yesterday morning (she's still a handful) injected with wormer and vitamined...
Then in the afternoon she was in a full out battle with Boris, hooves and tufts of hair, flying everywhere, antlers locked at times - Boris on 3 legs half way through battle... It was a nightmare it took me a full 10 minutes to separate the actual fight and then tactics to get Elsa back in the paddock with Frodo.... She took Frodo on for a very brief time but then accepted his superiority...

My take on this (as this was her behaviour in previous homes, with castrates) is that she is back in season - some reindeer become cuddly at this time - Elsa seems to get severe PMT. TG she'll never go through menopause or we'd all be dead! :)
Also today I believe Lotte is back in season as Boris has been sticking to her like glue and even tried to mount her a couple of times (he had testosterone 4 weeks ago to help him strip his velvet)... So the long and short is that I don't think there will be many (or any calves next year). It's been a tough year for many reasons..

Update over and just a video of Lexi playing with her twisted willow toy.

PS There seems to be a site that has sprung up that is giving false info on reindeer - "Santa Writes"... They have posted a video yesterday saying that Santa's reindeer are about to calf any day and keep watching for those births!
It's so funny as I know anyone who follows this post will see that this video must have been taken in April (not yesterday), due to the start of losing Winter coats, antlers only just growing for the season AND reindeer are born April/May... Guessing they're just trying to cash in on the giraffe birth viewers.
PS Santa has very dirty pens if he is expecting newborns any day... naughty Santa! :)
PLEASE note these are NOT my reindeer but Santa Claus writes :(
https://www.facebook.com/1CandyCaneLane/videos/10155855480727292/ can you spot what is misinformation?
