Animal Feed

    Just want to ask a question that has been bothering me for a while now...

    At first, when buying animal feed, I couldn't understand why some of the feed was more expensive than the animals themselves. After some thinking, I realized that with some of those, you have upgraded pens and thus for one feed you might get 2 or more animals - which then makes it worthwhile.

    With others though, I just really don't understand...
    Here are a few examples:
    Flamingos in my market sell for +-10 000, their feed for 17 000cc
    Red Pandas sell for +-8 500, their feed for 15 000cc
    Tigers sell for +-7 000, their feed for 27 000cc:eek:

    Why would anyone buy the feed when they can just buy the animal for that much cheaper?

    For those who sell the feed, good for you for getting those CCs, for those buying them?... What exactly are you thinking? Can anyone enlighten me? :music:

    I'm sure they are not paying attention to the prices, and/or there's some enjoyment if producing those animals themselves. As for any seller, it's about maximizing profit.

    Good question! Food for thoughts!

    I can think of three underlying reasons:

    * Besides buying the feed, one also 'buys' mill time. Esp. the Baha animal feeds take a long time to produce.
    Buying the expensive feed allows you to mill other feed, like parrot feed needed to produce manure for event crops.

    * One doesn't need to grow the ingredients. Another time saver in this time management based game.

    * Production pens also require feed. At times products are worth the costs of feed + animal.

    At last, as it's just CCs and not BBs you pay, the feed basicly is for free like every CC item :)

    I also think the expensive feed often is only bought in very small amounts OR when events/FSQ cause a high demand for the animals or product.
