New Baby reindeer to my herd

Well Karen with "silly season" almost over and your company about to go home, maybe you
can take a breathe before tackling those taxes! I think we all are hoping Gandalf gets a clean
bill of health, and can then help your herd in the up coming year! I am also hoping that Frodo with
all the love and good food he has gotten to help him survive this winter, will turn into a healthy, strong beautiful reindeer! Happy New Year everyone!

 

Just a silly but our second bride (Sarah) has just had a baby too... we attended her wedding in December 2015 and this cute bundle was born yesterday.. First bride Rebecca had (Florence last year)- must be the magic of reindeer...

I had a call this morning to say Gandalf could be picked up anytime, except the 2nd & 3rd of January - Guess what, we were on the road within the hour, despite hubby having cracked two ribs falling out of loft this morning (bless him, he insisted we get on the road immediately but every bump in road he was swearing)!

We arrived home after dusk so no photos, except a compilation I have just done of his life so far. He was born on the 29th April to an albino mother (so will carry that gene).. More pictures over the next few days as the latest on here is October.
Don't babies change so much in their first year!

 

Karen, I am "Happy Dancing" for you and your herd!And really, Bless your sweet hubby for helping you go and get Gandalf! He looks stunning! So fingers crossed some of your girls will be impressed with him too! Here's hoping for a smashing good 2018!

 

Really happy to hear your news about Gandalf but sorry to hear about your hubby and his cracked ribs, hope he gets better soon. I bet your girls will all be flirting with the new man in the herd!

 

Baby Tigga went in all hooves blazing when he arrived (she's half his size) Gandalf defended himself so Tigga's mother Twiglet jabbed him in the ribs (not hard though).
Pecking order will need some work over the next few days - me included as when I went into trailer after journey he head butted with quite serious intent - he's all boy, absolutely no doubt he'll be the DADDY 2019 but I need to give him rules as far as humans are concerned (or me anyway as if he's a breeding bull he won't be in public!!!!

 

Sounds like you are in for some fun times with Gandalf. Twiglet obviously wanted to make sure that he didn't upset her baby girl!

 

That pecking order always amazes me. The little ones (with mum towering behind) seem to like to be the first to speak up and with great energy. And with a few days absence it has to be reestablished.

So happy for you that Gandalf has arrived! Hopefully he will soon learn that you are to be respected. Pecking order is a fascinating thing - though my only experience is with dogs. Hooves and antlers add a bit more drama!
