Elsa is the Grinch ;) - destroying Christmas tree - heehee. I am waiting for more donations as they just love fighting with them

Frodo is still with us... he continues to be a major worry as he is so very thin... on a positive note he is eating very well and worm free and alive far longer than the vet thought BUT I have to keep him going until the Spring Reindeer Clock kicks in to say weight gain time.. :(... A herder in US asked for an update on him... All I can say is that I am not worried about tomorrow (or the next tomorrow) while he is lively and eating well BUT I can't guarantee next month. :(
Don't know if that explains..... He is happy, very active & healthy (if no body weight issues) so at the moment I am not worried about him dying this week BUT he could go down hill anytime before Spring kicks in - an ongoing worry but in the meantime he/I keep trying.. This is his worst photo.

    Slightly better. :(

I am sure that Frodo is far happier now having you as his "mum" and I will continue to keep my fingers crossed that all goes well with him.

No one could have done more for Frodo than you have. He has a great home and wonderful care; if he could speak I'm sure he would say "thank you". I continue to send blessings for his recovery.
Love the tree photo! I so enjoy the playful photos and videos you share; they make my day.:)

All herd well (or wellish in Frodo's case).

Lack of posts now, as hubby fell or at least swung out of loft (attic) on New Year's Eve morning. Pain has increased daily, whereby dogs or I cannot even breathe close to him.
After 4 day, took him for Xray - no broken ribs just severe bruising but we were retained in hospital for 6 hours as his blood pressure peaked at 229/130 and they wouldn't let him come home. Morphine and cocodimol relieved the pain sufficiently for him to stop stressing and his blood pressure to decrease a bit... but I have little time to spend other than the necessary with my herd... AND I've got a Tax Return to do too:(
So in the meantime a cute photo of Gandolf from a few days ago.

Love the picture of Gandolf, he has such a cute little face but I bet he can get into quite a lot of mischief! I do hope that your hubby soon gets better.

Fingers crossed your hubby's blood pressure comes way down as that is VERY high! I am also hoping his ribs heal real soon and that awful pain goes away!
I so agree with Lilaclady that Gandalf has the cutest face and you just want to kiss him on the nose! lol
Thanks for posting the picture and "Good Luck" with taxes!:p:wuerg:

Bonus with Gandalf for possible sun issues... His eyelids are brown (or maybe cream BUT not white) and also bridge of nose brown... so normal grazing, most of white bits will be in shade in Summer.. ;)

Gandolf is such a cutie pie. You Super Lucked out on that little darling. :) Best wishes for your hubbies speedy recovery. Ribs can take a while, even breathing is painful.

I can't see either of the Frodo pictures :(, just the photo of Elsa and the tree xD.

Hoping your hubby feels better soon!

Gandalf is stunning and I hope your husband feels better soon. I know how painful rib injuries can be, especially when the muscles there start cramping on top of other damage.
Please stop reminding me I still havent done my taxes though :(:(

    Just a goofy of Gandalf..

Hubby is improving slightly - he is starting to use right arm even though wincing... (Man Flu - hee hee;) )

Noelle, I shared Frodo's photos from a personal message to a reindeer friend in USA on FB, so just guessing she has received and deleted message... Frodo's photos I do not generally share on my reindeer FB page, in case anyone thinks he is an example of my herd! BUT we have a mutual friend (Lilac Lady) who is happy for me to send her random photos in order for me to share on here.... So I'm off to send it/them and share again for you. ;)
Edit (thanks Lilac) Frodo, looking dreadful - he's eating well but won't put on weight now until Spring, if he makes it...[IMG]
This photo from a different angle and he looks slightly better

Luckily he is very lively and has an incredible appetite but Spring "reindeer weight gain clock" is many weeks away yet:( Fingers and toes crossed for this boy but then vet didn't hold out a lot of hope for him but while he's lively there is still hope!

Well, and this might sound weird to some, but when I look into Frodo's eyes, I see sparkle
and to me that means fight and determination ie the will to live or fight on!:inlove:
oops forgot to mention that Gandalf looks like he has a flowing white beard!;)

His eyes are definitely bright, and his belly is full... so think positive!
Is there any way you can trick his body into thinking it's Spring? Possibly extend his daylight hours with artificial/full spectrum lights am and pm and bringing him into a heated stall each night? It's a common practice for a lot of livestock in the US... I have no idea if it could work for little Frodo or not, but thought it was worth mentioning...

Well said Sanddollar! The picture of Gandalf made me laugh Karen, it looks as though he was sharing a joke with you.

Peeps, I have tried him penned (but not artificial light though). Reindeer stress when penned, so I worry that he will loose weight if I do again. While he's bright, lively and eating well I want to keep him in a no stress environment & grazing (which also means he only has 1 other reindeer with him - for company but no competition for food). I'll play it day by day - bright and hungry, he will keep going... Loosing interest in life then another strategy needed! :(

Gandalf looks like a character!!!!:p His goofy grin reminds me a bit of Hector. :music:I am amazed at Frodo's recovery so far. Keep up the good work you....."reindeer whisperer"!!!!;)
I too hope your Hubby is feeling a bit better. I know rib injuries are awful...and take forever to heal.

Willow and Brooke, Gandalf reminds me so much of my beloved Hector and I so hope he will partially fill those massive boots... But that also means a little discipline will be required. ;).
Already he is being a little "pushy" - when I am distracted, I will feel a gentle nudge of my backside, look around and see Gandalf's forehead. Baby boys also go through a very mini rut so get a little pushy until their antlers drop, especially with their female handlers if they feel a connection too but odd so early for Gandalf to feel bonded to me. I think he will be a "heart" reindeer. :)
    Photo of Boris today.

I take random photos most days and the good ones I publish on their FB page (several at a time) but never know which one to share here. So if you have a favourite reindeer and haven't seen them for a while - let me know and I'll try to find a recent photo I have shared on their FB page. :)
