Sometimes you just have to kick that bucket. :)

Thank you Karen for sharing the video of Gandalf and the bad - empty bucket. :)

Like all teenage growing boys ... always, always hungry! ;) Spring gaining weight season may not have arrived yet, but don't tell Gandalf that! xD Besides you put the bucket out & food magically appears, why can't I just nudge, kick it and more appear?:music:

What was Frodo's Johnnes test results? Have had all my fingers & toes crossed for you, but it sure is hard to operate that way! :wuerg::inlove:

Nothing back from vet yet, re Frodo's Johnnes test.

If it comes back positive then I am guessing my vet may be twitching, as I will be one unhappy camper.

While Frodo was in quarantine the situation, Frodo euthanized :(, could have been coped with but now he is running with Elsa, for company and she would be now at risk as it is highly contagious and incurable and tests aren't completely accurate..
I was so stupid taking on the risk of trying to rehabilitate a reindeer as my herd where so healthy...
Sleepless nights and no longer trusting vets completely... :(

Great to see baby Gandalf having fun with that bucket! I too am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that all is well with Frodo. I know what you mean about not trusting Vets completely now!

Great video of Gandalf doing the new "head butting, hoof kicking, reindeer bucket dance!"xDxD
It is sad that the Vets in your area don't really know about reindeer so you are caught between a rock and a hard place! I am hoping all will be well with Frodo and ALL his tests!

Loved the video of Gandalf! I needed a smile after a lousy day at work. :) We are all believing the best for you and the reindeer.

Brilliant news, Frodo's results back for Johnnes test - Negative... Happy Dance.

Tests for Johnnes can be done via blood, fecal or milk (in cattle), they aren't 100% accurate but the blood is more so. Frodo had blood taken, so fingers crossed he is clear. I have decided to stop panicking about him now until we are well into Spring when daylight hours, spring grass and browse will trigger his body clock to start putting on weight (if I get him that far but got him through so far, so fingers crossed). He is, at the moment, eating wonderfully, bright eyed and playful, so only a few more months to go but starting to feel slightly more positive...
In the meantime a photo of Katya and her daughter Belle, just to decorate post. :)

Hubby has just asked me that, but for now no, as he is only with one girl (for company) and I can ensure she doesn't chase him off his food as I can feed them separately.. but with the whole herd he would be at bottom of herd ranking so would only get left over food and I can't risk that yet...
I long to get whole herd together, easier for me to put all feed in one place and have all babies together BUT for now I feel that his best chance of getting through Winter is without having to compete for food. Hopefully March/April I'll see enough improvement so that I can let him join the pecking order of main herd. I think it will do him good BUT can't risk it yet as he isn't carrying enough weight

Hmmm, Frodo needs protein powder drinks, like weightlifters use. xD :p :D
