Clashstrummer I love the story about your cat. As you said who actually trained who, cats are very good at training humans to get what they want!
Pnp love your post, it is very poignant.

My heart is touched by all these stories. I lost a dog late last summer to a rare type of leukemia. He was 14.

I realized after he was gone that a dog in my life made me happier. So I rescued a stray whose face I fell in love with in a picture. I knew she was my dog cause her name even popped into my mind. I picked her up in Oct. She had kennel cough was malnourished at 58 pounds and had fleas. Got her healthy - she is now over 85 pounds. A great pyr mix. She is STUBBORN and keeps me on my toes!
It is a battle of stubborn at my house But I wouldn't trade her for the world.

littletinybit I'm sorry for the sad health situation of your baby boy and I hope you have a long and zestful life with your lil rescue girly;) (did you mean her name is" Stubborn" :inlove:) Blessings*

Her name is Shyla - but stubborn is extreme in this breed. Had no idea. Lets just say I am sure some of my neighbors have laughed when 85 pounds of dog puts her heels in and refuses to move - Then I tug on her and fall over.

Pet stories:inlove: As good as kid stories;):pxD:inlove:

In 2003, hubby was in the Army and deployed for an unknown amount of time. We lived 500 miles away from family on a military base. I was working on my degree and needed to take a class that was only offered once a year, lasted 8 weeks and only held at night. My mom, bless her, came to stay with me to help take care of kids in the evening while I was at class. She brought with her 2 dogs...1 a German Shepherd/Malamute and 1 a Malamute/Great Pyrenees. I had a Cocker Spaniel and we already had a cat.

While walking the dogs one day, we kept hearing a meow and found a cat in the storm drain. Mom was able to reach it and pull it out. He was a young gray cat and very friendly. We were certain he had been stuck and needed help getting out. He promptly jumped back in.

A few days later, as we are walking the dogs, the same cat comes running up to us like we are his long lost family and is very affectionate, not one bit afraid of 2 big dogs, and follows us home. We did try to locate his family but no one knew where he had come from. Being a military installation, people move often and we suspect he was left behind. Not necessarily intentionally as cats hide when movers come.

We take him home with the intention of calling Animal Control to come get him so he can be adopted by a nice family. We already had 2 pets and that's all you are allowed to have in military housing. I tried to make the call only to find out the electricity was off and the phone lines dead. I continue trying for the next couple of hours with no success.

The school bus arrives and off gets my 8 year old son who has been missing his dad terribly and worried he won't come home (a real possibility) and isn't sleeping well from nightmares. He always wanted a cat and a gray one at that. He promptly picks the cat up and asks, "Did you get me a kitty? Can I keep him?"

I did try to explain to my son that we needed to find the cat a new home but my heart melted and all logic and reason left me. For the first time in months, my son was happy and safe. He took the cat to his room, snuggled on the bed and named him Silver. They were never apart until my son went to college years later. Silver was a wonderful addition to our family. So loving. So affectionate. I am so grateful for his arrival that day as he did what I could not for my son. The nightmares stopped and he turned his thoughts from worry about his dad to eagerly wanting to share news of the new pet.

As soon as I said 'yes, you can him' the electricity and phone lines came back on. xD Sometimes blessings come disguised and when you least expect it but need it most and don't recognize/realize. Thank you Lord for this furry family.

I call our cats The Three Amigos. Silver is in the middle. It was with great sadness and I still cry over his departure that Silver crossed the Rainbow bridge last summer.

Marlymar, I'm not sure what the situation is, but if your vet cannot see Marly now while shes in need= you need to find another vet. Immediately. Praying, and please keep us posted...

Marly, your vet doesn't offer emergency service? Not sure if the ear swelling is an emergency but if she is not eating it's close. If she is not drinking then it definitely is she will be dehydrated quickly and that is an emergency situation. I'll keep you and her in my thoughts.

she ate this morning and she drank this evening the vet isn't the reason I cant take her right now :( she is resting comfortably right now and I will take her as soon as possible the swelling is going down its just going slowly thank you clashtrummer. when I said she didn't want to eat I meant her second helping I feed her twice a day :) she did eat a piece of bologna and a treat I'm hoping she will be more like herself in the morning if not ill ask family to help me so I can take her in :)
