The Hunt for Red Diamond Strategy Thread

As much as I want those 15 GB in the Hungry Statues, I'd have to spend 23 GB to open the trees necessary to attempt it. It's even worse for people who don't have the prior trees opened. It just doesn't make sense for me to try it. Good luck to those who do.

 

ummm...how long does it take to grow pineapple when you have 1x1's and CAC running? Is that really the only "prize" for 20 jack knives?? If so, not impressed especially after the first few gifts. I completed the other event yesterday. Is it even possible to finish both this event and the Temple event? Really seems kind of insane I do already have all the statues opened but I don't have a mass amount of each tree.

 

Julie the prize for the 20 jackknives was 5 wonder stables and a tree. Whatever the pineapple gave you was a bonus.

 

So is "Hungry Statues" the "Descend Into the Temple" event? Due to a surplus of GBs I've got all the trees available, tho I kinda think it's a low blow to give us a timed request that requires product that can only be obtained from a second event, that can only be done on the fields where we have to put the trees for the timed request, and which will require the better part of an entire field to finish, thereby effectively leaving us 2 fields to finish the crop event. Granted, by the time we get to the last step we should be close to completing the crop event, but still... Nonetheless, I'll do the timed quest both here and on bear, as, like Peeps, can't seem to turn away from those free PFs. Don't mind my grumbling, not enough sleep, mind's still muddled.

A quick, sleep deprived count of the trees needed for the final step of Statues gives me the following requirements:

To complete in one round: 56 Plumeria trees, 50 Betel, & 50 Ficus, using Suzee's Super Grow and Turbo Mulch. With only 5 Ceiba trees, again using SSG and TM, and assuming you have the XXL upgrades, it will take 4 harvests. Without the XXLs, I don't think it can be done. So there goes my grumble about using one of the growing fields, since we'll need to finish the Red Diamond event before can finish Hungry Statues, lol. They labeled this one right for a change, it will be challenging.

 

no it's not the descend into the temple event - that's another thing entirely - remember the little geometric stone things? That's that event - it's a quest to get the stones and then an event window to use the stones.

I think I'm sitting out the short timed quest. I don't see how I can do the knife event and that...not enough room. I've already pulled up a bunch of trees and stables on my baha lands to grow the bamboo.

 

I think the 'Decend into the Temple' event will neatly split players into two groups:
Group 1 will be very interested in the Golden Bananas on offer for the prizes but can't complete the quest as they don't have the high level trees open.
Group 2 has everything open so can complete the quest, but they won't be interested in the GBs as they already have oodles spare, which means the prizes aren't good for such a hard quest.
I'm in group 2, with 812 GBs sitting in a heap going brown.

 

Mrmph... I'm just turning fields and harvesting today my mind is in no shape to do anything complicated like milling. I gave up being brave sometime last night and took the painkillers I swore I was not going to need. Now I'm groggy and brain dead and still in some pain. I'm sure a nap will help.

Thank you bunny, I wasn't sure. I forgot about the shaped runes. Sure hope they let us use mainland for that, I don't see any way possible to do 3 events at the same time on only 3 fields.

LDC, I hope your hand feels better quickly. One thing my doctor had me do when I had surgery a few years back was alternate the pain killers with prescription Tylenol, so I wasn't relying as much on the pain meds. Now when my knees bug me I take Advil (actually, take it for all my aches and pains ), amazing how much relief ibuprofen can provide. If you decide to try either of those, make sure to clear it with your doctor first, tho, so it doesn't mess with your prescription, and of course don't take the Advil if your allergic to ibuprofen.

 

I'm in the 1,5h group. Have spare GB, opened most things, only a few breeding pack statues and the tree-house They can wait. Milled 60 Jack knives - now I need to check my post to see how many I needed.... cos I don't remember It's not like I did the math and posted it myself

*sigh* I need more than 100 jackknives... I have critters on the main trying to replace some of resources used in Breeding quest. I think I'm going to have to pull them so I can focus on drops.

Anyone that clear cut all three fields, and has all of all three fields available, are in the best shape to complete this and the timed short-time quest. Now I'm wishing I had done that. Before the FAQ for Hungry Statues I was going to grow longer crops overnight but I ended up growing the event crop on my two fields instead. Wasn't going to disturb CF, now I've clear cut it for the Hungry Statues.

Anyone not sure really will benefit from doing as much of the Hungry Statues as you can schedule. You can get some good TEP & GB from it.

 

Clash, I realize that but after getting the sloths and anacondas, the pineapples were a bit of a let down for me. I know there were other prizes to the steps but I'm greedy LD, wishing you the best Think I have 114 knives to make(??) Guess I better decide what I am going to do pretty quick Good luck to all!!

 

I had planned on leaving Crystal Falls alone but now have pulled out the trees there to plant the ones needed for Hungry Statues. I got a late start yesterday with the event and was gone most of today. So far, I have only 2 of the Ceiba trees and in order to be able to complete the first timed section, I will have to use pineapple cake along with SSG. I have plenty of drops but need more event crops. Since yesterday was so late getting going, I even grew them overnight. I still need to make 117 jackknives to finish but really need 32 asap to get the rest of the base ceiba trees to get ready for the timed quests. I haven't had time to do the math....is there room to make a mistake?

Thinking about it, that would make a great April Fools joke for this game. Just think of the panic if people's precious golden bananas went brown and couldn't be used any more

 

LOL shimmer! With near 1400 unused GB I wait for the day we're able to hand in Black Bananas to Jack's Shop..

On topic: I got the last batch of needed Giant Bamboo planted. If only the still needed 700 drops would come with their harvest ..

 

No worries, Moraine. I'm in the same banana boat as you, needing 106 more knives. Drops are good, but can't keep up crops needed. 2 trees in possession, 3 more in 2 easy payments of crops. With Pineapple Cake being a diamond slot buff, and only one diamond slot available, and said slot currently occupied with 106 hours worth of CAC, I'm dismayed to realize I might have to dump the CAC to use the PC. Even with the PC and TM, 2 trees isn't enough to finish 1st step in the time allotted. I think I will put out my 2 trees now, do 1 round of SG on 1 or maybe 2 fields, and get the other 3 trees up and running as quickly as possible. I've got extra SG to spare in my reserves, tho I hate to use it, but can't afford to use up my SSG, as I'm below my comfort level in that, and it's harder to come by. I'm leaving event crop on fields at night, since using mainland for drops (would much rather be growing bears than carnations, I can tell you that ). If I did my maths right (no sure bet), there's only 5 hours to spare in the mini event, not a lot of wiggle room. Sure would have been nice if they had given us the rumored extra buff slots BEFORE giving us simultaneous, almost impossible events.

 

3 events? I am out on the timed quest. I haven't opened up the trees yet and only have half the crops needed to complete Red Diamond hunt. I agree drops seem to be decent. Should be able to complete the breeding event over the weekend while BB is running.
