To my eye Frodo isn't just growing impressive antlers & filling out, but he is having a growth spurt as well. He was smaller than the girls in previous photos, but now looks to be taller at the shoulder. ;) He's trying to make up for poor growth the last couple of years.:D Would love to see some photos of Gandalf & Frodo as they grow over the spring & summer. :):inlove: Thou Karen you'll need to be very careful this fall not to get between them. o_O:eek: RESPECT may not be enough :wuerg:

Can I vote for Elsa & Bruno to have the 1st week at the Christmas Tree farm and Twiglet & Fergie the 2nd week. Lichen for all :D

Dafodilly, I'll take some individual photos of Gandalf (but that's him second from right, them Tigga and Boris far left). Gandalf has really grown but that was only to be expected as he was a baby but always in good condition. His antlers too are looking pretty good for a yearling but he, as most of my others, hasn't moulted out Winter coat completely yet as it was beautifully thick.

Edit... Updating this post and may have to do it twice as I haven't as yet posted Gandalf's picture's elsewhere.
But for starters, update on baby Herman.. His infected eye is ALMOST back to normal. Still a slight blue tinge to his beautiful brown eye but his sight is almost restored. New Forest Disease is always worrying but isn't lasting if caught early (which his was).

    Will do Gandalf update tomorrow...

BUT for now look at the eyelashes on just baby Herman.
Boris, mid summer can have 2 1/2 inch lashes, Lexi has one eye long white lashes, the other brown. In Summer I'm so envious of their long lashes BUT in Winter not a lash in sight..

Summer (fly control) Winter would get frozen?? They are incredible beasties. :)

    Gandalf update as promised..
Unfortunately I can't find a baby picture of him that there is anyway of judging his size. All I can say is that he was a very good size, weight, condition when I purchased him 31st Jan 2017 (no worries at all). His growth has continued "on plan" he is now a gangly teenager after shooting up about 8" at the withers. It will take him a couple of years to "bulk up" but he's on target, not too thin, just leggy.

Jan 2018 cute bundle of fluff.

and today's update.. I have put a (pony) grazing muzzle on him to block the sun as I am a little concerned about a white patch on his nose that seems to be reacting badly to the sun. He doesn't like it, but tough, it's staying there for now.

Hoping it's just a temporary issue. As you can see from first photo, skin wasn't a problem yesterday but today!

Oh bless him. He has such a cute white nose, I hope the sun hasn't affected it too much and that he keeps his protection on!

A little concerned as his grandfather had cancers. First on one eyelid which moved into eye (eye removed) and 3 year later second eyelid moved into eye and he was put down as total blindness would not be fair for him to cope with..
Buttercups can cause skin irritation, which sun exacerbates... I am hoping that is Gandalf's problem and that is why I am trying a grazing muzzle for now... :(

AND my unicorn Belle, seems to be trying to grow a second antler - homework reads "Needs to try harder" but we love her with one or two antlers. :)

Belle's mantra is "I think I can!" Sweet little girl!:inlove: Oh my, hoping all will be well with Gandalf and that ugly cancer gene is not going to appear in him! Fingers crossed!

Ah, oops, I thought there was a missing image in post 4403 as there's a thing in Karen's signature.

Ungrateful beastie Frodo punched me in the face today. I guess he wasn't looking forward to the worming injection that he was about to have. :)

My fault as I caught his head collar the other side of the raised trough while he was eating and he panicked and lashed out. (He was one of the last to do and I was getting a bit cocky). Must say I didn't think that front hoof would miss the trough and hit my face (I'm 5' 8")! Still no major harm done, just a thick lip and a tiny cut under me nose - bruised pride more than anything! At least he's feeling fiesty!

 I hope he said 'sorry'! Probably didn't after you jabbed him... Well, you jab me, I jab you(or visa-versa)!
Good thoughts and prayers for Gandalfs full recovery.

Wow Karen, sounds like you were lucky he didn't get you square in the face! That will teach you not to mess with Frodo as he is getting his strength on for sure! I am glad you are both ok!:inlove:
