Hooked on Fishing 2018 Strategy Thread

I kind of love this event BUT am I missing something, as there is nothing left available in the shop worth purchasing (purchased anything I wanted in previous fishing events)... My giver fields are overflowing and only giver item left for sale that I haven't purchased...

Karen, take your star coins to the football shop, week 1 prizes can be purchased repeatedly.
I will go back to scooping up FCs once my fishing CRs are in place.

 

I have played 84 games with just plain lures. 21 Marlins out of that

 

A day and a half into the event I've caught 104 fishies with normal lures.

To balance the drop rate for all 3 drops involved I decided to go with:

- 1 field with long timed crops (good drop rate with base time 18hr+)
- 2.5 fields with trees (terrible drop rate even with base time 20hr+)
- 1.5 fields with pens/workshops (decent drop rate with base time 8hr+)

By doing it this way I'm pretty confident to be able to mill at least 50 normal lures per day while the event lasts.

Yup, I'm definately ready for many more catches

I have not make up my mind weather to Mill Normal Lure or Deluxe Lures

I am using both Baha Fields for Trees to reap Metal Dics. As I able to get Tree Times down to 16 Hours rather than 20 Hours. I use Pirate Parrot Pet (10%),plus use Virl of Growth Buff (10%) Reduce Baha Tree Times by 4 Hours or 20% Reduce Tree Times. Plus I use PAC gives +1 Baha Fruit

As for animal Stables have 4 CR That Reduce Buterflies Times plus Cheese Balls and Valentine Pot Buff, Got Buterflies times down to under 5 hours.

Once I got enough Lure Feathers then I will using Crop Refinements plus cheap Manure to gain some more fish hooks

 

Looks like a good place to stop my search and just ask...
I'm wondering where we are to get the star coins needed to buy these items? Is my memory slipping or did we use to win coins while fishing? This time we are not receiving Star Coins from fishing. I had two left over from WorldCup and have fished 7 games and the total has not changed.

I know I can use the Star Coins I'm winning from the WorldCup event BUT I have spent all that I have earned thus far and there are still a couple items I need/desire from the WorldCup store with the SC I'm to win yet.
What is a farmer to do???

 

You can win star coins from the boxes, they are just a bit rare.

 

SMH I was just coming back to do an edit... I went back to the FAQ and looked harder and seen...

I have gotten the CR and used a combination of normal and premium. For me, after gaining the CR, the main objective is to gain as many rewards from the boxes as I can as they are very helpful for my farm.

42 normal lures/ 16 prizes
30 premium lures/ 27 prizes

I've been getting a good variety of rewards but wish there was something else in the shop to purchase rather than older cloud rows and items. I do recognize if a player doesn't have previous rows/givers that the star coins might not be sufficient to gain what is missing, but if you already have them, there is nothing to do with them.

For players still needing older items, don't give up. There are still several days left in the event and BP normally includes older fishing items in fishing events so if you don't get it this time, there is always next time and Gift and Trade.

 

I just got my CR up and running after following the advice from habalala who has been using normal lures!
My 1st 10 were Premium and no Marlins
my last 40 normal lures and I got 15 Marlins! (that's good for me!)

The cloud row was my main priority, getting 5 boxes of fish everyday is tremendous.
You won't just have an opportunity to get fish.
You may also find Sharks, Boxing Gloves, Pottery. Ladders, Skateboards, Luggage, Snorkels, Cooking Pots, Bikinis, Koi Fish and Hammocks in your fish crates.

Cassie, 2 of my boxes rewarded 20 paint cans, each... None of these lovely things have jumped out at me. Fingers crossed!!

 

My list was referring to the prizes you can win from the fish crates given by the Cloud Row.
I'm sure you'll win plenty of those things when you get your Cloud Row up and running joan

and your right the Marlins do seem to come better from normal lures.
I have received nice rewards BUT I have not received any SCs as of yet.
Truth be told I may not have any of the old CRs BUT I will be spending any SCs I get at the WorldCup

Thanks for the thanks! Here's the math:

Normal Lure = 2 hooks, 3 feathers, 2 discs = 1 fish
Premium Lure = 7 hooks, 6 feathers, 5 discs = 2 fish -> 1 fish costs 3.5 hooks, 3 feathers, 2.5 discs
Deluxe Lure = 12 hooks, 11 feathers, 11 discs = 3 fish -> 1 fish costs 4 hooks, 3.65 feathers, 3.65 discs

By using Normal lures you'll get the most games and the most fish for your resources.
The only advantage for the other lures is a slightly higher chance not to catch mackerel or lobster.

Currently my games played counter is at 250. Yup, I love fish

Edit: Don't forget the Farmcup Shop closes tomorrow evening. Make sure to trade in your fish SC there prior to that!
