I'm finding it very interesting as both had broken an antler over the past couple of weeks, during fights. Freddy was the most dominant so Elaine caught him up and sawed off his remaining antler. A whie later Storm took him on (Storm 1 antler Freddy none) - Storms remaining antler broke off.
This video taken later in the day, Freddy is trying to dominate by "riding" Storm as he would a cow but Storm is still fighting as an antlered male...
Next update will be the telling one for me. :)

Freddy is a lover, not a fighter! :) Thank you for the video, Karen. Please tell Elaine thanks for sharing!! :music:

Castrate, Boris' injection of "He Man Juice" - Sustenon (testosterone) has started to work already. He started to strip his velvet, a little halfheartedly but he's onto it. I also notice that he's sniffing the girls too!

Wow... Maybe you won't have to use the silver spray on his spooky antlers for Christmas bookings. :)

He looks as though he is thinking "who are you staring at, I will strip my velvet when I feel like it"

Joan, thank you for remembering, that was an absolute nightmare day for me! He and a girl were booked for a child's Birthday party. Previous day he was in full velvet but the morning of the Birthday Party he had decided to become a member of the "Walking Dead" His antlers were part stripped and dripping in blood.... Turning him into Metal Mickey was the only option to hide the blood on newly stripped antlers!! I still have nightmares about that day but luckily child thought he looked "cool" with metal antlers...
They say never work with children and animals... at least if you want an easy life...
And Boris always wants to throw the curved ball!

Boris should be in full Halloween mode on All Hallows eve! 8) xD Hopefully not too long after. :wuerg:xD A little sniffing may not be too bad as Frodo & Gandalf have already covered girls! ;) Just enough he-man to strip velvet & show a little interest, but not enough to cause you trouble. :music: Thanks for all the videos & updates.:inlove:

Oh yes, I remember how red his antlers were under the newly striped velvet, and they looked so sore even though you said they were not!
It looks like his antlers are very red again this time! Good for Halloween not so much for child's birthday party! lol

OH I'm alive but it could have been close today - Rutting Bull Gandalf escaped and I didn't notice he was in "cuddly paddock" until I was standing 12" from his snoozing body!!!
    "
Had to share a funny (which could have turned out to be disastrous).
Over the last couple of days I have been removing girls from the two rutting paddocks -when I could sneak them through a gate. I have left one cow with each bull for company.
This morning I fed first bull and his cow, then walked into the "main cuddles herd" paddock which has a castrate, babies and the cows. I glanced into second bulls paddock and could only see his cow (me thinks he must be in their field shelter). I am standing amongst what should be 11 friendly reindeer all laying around me and did a count to make sure everyone accounted for, I counted 12 but I must not be awake - time for a recount... As I glanced down at my feet ...... OMG that's the missing reindeer bull.
You have never seen a faster Moonwalk!
Luckily bull was exhausted as he had been fighting with castrate, Boris.. Bonus is castrate's antlers have almost stripped from fighting (and not broken). Bulls eyes were bloodshot and his back smeared in blood. Blood just from castrates antlers, bloodshot eyes now gone, so either just high blood pressure or minor pokes...
Both castrate and bull now separated (with tactics) and nothing except extreme tiredness and I am not a kebab!!!..
Oh the joys of having entire boys..and time to strengthen raise fences!
Photo castrate stripped on bulls antlers. [IMG]:)

OMG Karen!!! I'm so glad you are okay! Well....you've certainly had your Halloween fright this year!:wuerg: I bet you are completely exhausted from the adreniline rush and all the work it took to get Gandolf back in his paddock! You've earned an afternoon nap(or a strong cocktail).:music:

BOTH times 2 :p Gandalf doesn't like Boris having 7 cows while he has 1. -.- He definitely needs higher fence.
Glad Boris & you made it thru without major injuries.:inlove: Glad Frodo is better behaved. :music:

What? No pic of the Rutting Bull asleep at your feet?? Since Boris was still standing, does this mean he is Top Dog now? xD
I think they recommend whiskey for shock! ;)
Maybe a video of you moon walking away from Sleeping Bull! :music:

Heehee Joan - darn I forgot to take a photo of sleeping bull at my feet for you all... Too busy running backwards and wondering if I could get through gate before he knew I was standing beside him!
Note to self - always expect the unexpected and make sure you are totally awake during the rutting season if you want to live to see another day! :)

I guess Gandalf got tired of Boris teasing and decided to take him on.
He forgot to calculate his opponents size and the testosterone booster shot. :) Did you ever figure out how he jumped the fence?

Sorry only copying and pasting from their FB page as it's been a busy week.. ;)
Edit...Seems copy and paste doesn't show the reason for post... I have sawed off Gandalf's antlers - hopefully he'll be less aggressive in a couple of days. :(

    Another Educational post.
At this time of year "the Rut" is the only time that any reindeer become a problem and then it is only the entire boys (Frodo and Gandalf), the rest of the year even they are cuddly BUT the entire boys during rut are dangerous.
A couple of days ago Gandalf jumped a fence and got in with my main cuddly herd - I didn't notice until I was amongst them. He had fought with Boris (Boris has a minor eye injury) I left cuddles paddock VERY quickly. Managed ...
