I am happy that Pookie has a safe place away from fireworks! She does seem to be getting use to the paper work:p but you know she is just waiting to get out to the barn again! She is such a pretty cat I am glad you found each other!:inlove:

I am also happy that Pookie has a safe haven away from the fireworks. She is really lucky to have found someone like you to take care of her, and I am sure that she will help with any paperwork you might have to deal with:)

Second night away from the real farm for Pookie Cat, so instead she is helping with the virtual one. :)

No fireworks yet tonight, (I thought this would be the main problem night) but to be honest last night there were fireworks in the distance and she didn't bat an eyelid, so maybe tomorrow I will leave her in her happy place.

I am lucky, none of my dogs have ever stressed about fireworks, thunder or gunshot either and I have owned and bred dogs for decades. I start them as soon as they open their eyes with empty plastic bottles, as they play with them they make load noises, metal feed bowls are used and dropped from a few inches and their first thunderstorm, we all go out to play in the rain and thunder. I try to associate load noises with fun... and maybe the dogs vibes are transferring to Pookie or maybe some owner in the past gave her good vibes? I will never know but pleased to report she is pretty chilled. :)

May get my wrists slapped for double posting but hey ho a different subject... back to the reindeer. An update from Ythanbank. Picture Storm (an entire baby who has had his antlers removed and also had female hormones to bring him out of rut, taking on a castrate) and Storm is far easier than Freddy but no pictures...
Just love this picture, it shows the woomph that a baby bull show even without antlers against Loki a year older castrate - got to love them. :)

No pictures today as too busy doing temporary repairs to fences. It appears Belle isn't pregnant and has cycled today... The 2 boys have broken the rails in adjoing paddocks... I just have to keep reminding myself that the Rut "will be worth it eventually".. At the moment I want to castrate both in the Spring -turning grey:)!

Doesn't Storm realize the male heirarchy?:p LOL Loki sure looks like a complete stud in that pic!;) And that he's about to land a big smack to Storm right in the kisser!

So that is Loki with the antlers flying through the air (practicing for Santa's sled duty) and baby storm going after him?!
Oh my what a great photo! Thanks to all for sharing it!:inlove:

Frodo update, he has lost some weight during the Rut but not nearly enough to worry about...

I am hoping that he will drop his antlers soon, which will mean he's come out of rut, but for now he hasn't... he smashed a fence rail yesterday as Belle came in season and he wanted to join her! Oh the joys of the Rut :(

He is certainly a very handsome young man. You would never think he was the same reindeer that you brought home in such a sorry state last year. Am looking forward to seeing his babies next year:)

Can't believe that this is the same skinny guy we saw last year.
Great job Karen. Keep up the good work.

It's the same boy and he makes me smile everyday, even when he's being a pain in the backside during rut!
Last year he couldn't take the skin off a custard tart... This year he is destroying fences but delighted - fences are easier to fix!. :)
Rut will be over soon and he'll be back to being cuddly for 9/10 months. :)

Sorry no posts to share on here as having to keep a low profile. Animal Rights Activists are targeting reindeer keepers in UK. An absolutely dreadful video of someone kicking a reindeer has just been published, said worker was a plant, so too was the hidden cameras (not my herd TG), articles also showed reindeer in awful coat condition (no, it was their annual moult) and a reindeer that couldn't stand (it was a girl squatting to pee). Yes there was a skinny reindeer but photograph my herd last year and Frodo was way thinner - it could have been an old reindeer??? Video was filmed in May??? Why screen it now and not in May when it was filmed??? Reason, they are asking everyone to bombard venues and say they won't attend and no reindeer should be kept in captivity.... Scary, scary times. The farm they have targeted are too frightened to open and daren't take their reindeer out but how will they feed their reindeer next year?
Just a happy picture, of a happy reindeer... :(

That is so disturbing to me! I am sure as is in my country also there are plenty of abused animals for them to go help, and don't make things
look worse than they really might be! They probably held off showing theses things as they wanted to bring them out when people would be hiring reindeer! IMHO anyone who has been near your farm or out to one of the events that your reindeer were a part of has to see how well and healthy and loved they are! That does NOT happen over night! :inlove::inlove: the Happy Reindeer picture above!

I also love the happy reindeer picture. As sanddollar has said the animal rights people should be targeting animals that are really mistreated and not use pictures that misrepresent those that are well loved and cared for . They obviously don't know that much about animals, especially reindeer, if they posted those photos. Please take care that they don't find out where you are.

Karen, I am so sorry that you are going through this false publicity. I wish everyone who knows or has seen the good Reindeer herders, could bombard their post with truth.
That is a beautiful little Reindeer nose. :inlove: Who does it belong to? I don't know noses...
