    That's Katya's nosey nose... :)

Boris has many virtues but patience isn't one of them.

All sorts of hoops to jump through this year, to counteract the Animal Activists, firstly, I have composed a Welfare Statement
    Statement of Animal Welfare 12/11/18
It is an established fact that research shows reindeer have been domesticated for thousands of years, they actively enjoy human company and relish new experiences.
At Luxlyk Reindeer our primary concern is the welfare of our reindeer. First and foremost they are much loved, albeit somewhat unusual, pets.
They are kept in large well-tended and secure paddocks with free access to open grassland and clean stables. They are fed a specialised diet based on their unique needs and have access to fresh pasture and browse to supplement this.
In order to maintain the very highest levels of care we are in constant contact with a specialist veterinary practitioner and other reindeer herders throughout the world. We endeavour to have the latest information on reindeer husbandry and good practice which we add to our own knowledge and care programme to give our animals the greatest degree of care and enrichment.
Our reindeer are only exhibited during the four week period leading up to Christmas and only ever under strict parameters relating to time on display and time in transit. They are accompanied at all times by their owner and each animal will have a dedicated handler to ensure their wellbeing during an event.
We never exhibit individuals who will be stressed by the experience, those deer who are on display have been chosen specifically for their gentle nature and ability to cope with the event in question. Our aim is to expose the animals to as little stress as possible whilst allowing members of the public to enjoy their company during the festive period.
We trust you will be able to see the level of love and care we give our herd for yourselves.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope you enjoy the experience of meeting our animals as much as we enjoy looking after them.

And a display board of pictures to show how they live at home...??? What to show, were to start... one board I could do hundred.. :(

They are beautiful! Wow, Those antlers are huge! The deer here(Fl.,USA) grow there dark coats in the winter not summer. They are pretty dark now and during the summer they are such a pretty reddish brown.

I know this is meant to be my reindeer.. but our lives are so much more... My Hell cat, come Angel :) is struggling on dominance in the last couple of days.. This black cat is giving her hell... Not a stray but he's beating her up for her food. :(

Pookie, the now lovable farm cat.
She needs to find the hell cat that she used to be...
The interloper "black cat" is chasing her off her breakfast and said black cat is hissing at me when I try to remove it from Pookie's breakfast! [IMG]:(
Pookie hissed and spitted but ran off and let the black cat win! [IMG]:(

A spray bottle with just water in it will get that cat running if you need to go get Pookies food up! :) It always worked on my house cats if they were going near a plant they wanted to chew on, after a couple of times all they needed to do was see the bottle and they walked away fast!

I agree with sanddollar and also speak from experience. If my 3 are misbehaving all I have to do is get the spray bottle and they run a mile when they see it!

    .
    A very disappointed Mischa today.

While cleaning out the trailer I had left the jockey door open and she hopped in.
It may be hard for the Anti's to believe but the show beasties love their outings to meet the public. Mischa is now at home until Saturday when she once again gets to pester her fans for attention. [IMG]:)

And a distraught owner who has had Sunday's booking cancelled due to Cyber bullying of school by Antis. They didn't want to cancel us as they know my herd are tended to beyond but the threats were so serious that obviously they have to think of the childrens welfare first... Such sad times. I have asked them to pass on threats to police. :(

Such a sad thing that these misinformed idiots have to ruin children's pleasure.

It is even sadder that money made from booking the "Holiday Reindeer" is being taken away! Money that reindeer farmers NEED to feed their herds, pay vet bills, and all things that would keep these reindeer healthy and happy! And this is what these idiots are suppose to represent...the welfare of animals! Well dah, I think they need to rethink what it is they are doing and why??!!
This makes me Sooo angry because everyone knows "you can't fix stupid" and this group surely is just that!

Angry name calling in a "debate" always makes me sad, whichever side it comes from.

Your argument for calling them idiots does not apply because they do not represent welfare of animals. Animals not being "used" by humans does not go together with even the best "welfare" humans can provide for animals in "captivity". Furthermore, animals being free does not equal animal welfare, nature can be "cruel" too. Someone having a different ideology from you doesn't necessarily make them stupid.

I am not "angry name calling"!;) In my opinion These people do appear to be both stupid and very idiotic, therefore imho idiots!:)
It is quite clear to me "these people" do not represent the best welfare of animals, hence the terms "I" use! Again just MY opinion!

Finally a sunny day.. and we are "spreading the love", tomorrow and Monday after 5 days of rain! :( (Sunday cancelled :( ) and visiting a school on Monday - Free Competition School winners.

It seems, so far, that activists are only swaying our new venues but our previous bookings are staying strong... Scary times for loving reindeer owners.
Some of the girls. (with Gandalf far left).
