Wishing everyone who follows this wonderful thread a very Happy Christmas. A big thank you to Karen as well, who shares her stories and pictures of the wonderful reindeer, both happy and sad, and tells us all about the naughty ones (sorry Boris I love you really).:inlove:

A Happy and sad post... but mainly happy for Herman.
Herman (the Munster) will be leaving us shortly... but he has found himself a home as a stud bull due to his size. New entire males are not required often, ie a male can keep 10 girls happy for years so very few are kept entire as they are head cases/ dangerous during rut. If Herman stayed at home I would have needed to castrate in May (I will too Bruno but Bruno is smaller and he'll make a great castrate.

Will miss seeing pictures and having updates on "little" Herman. He has certainly grown into a very big handsome young man. I too hope that he has a very long and happy life in his new home.

Only pictures of the babies tonight I am afraid as Santa has already collected the adults for their big night.
Hopefully tomorrow the big girls and boys will be back in their paddocks...
Sleep tight all, as the reindeer only visit when you are asleep [IMG]:)

I have shared before and I will share again as this pulls at my heart strings.. A belief of the native Sami reindeer herders & at this time of year all our beliefs should be shared and appreciated.. xx

In the beginning there was a White Reindeer…

From this white reindeer, the world was created.
His bones were the foundation & his flesh the land. His veins and tendons were the rivers and his white coat the mountains, meadows and endless forests. His head the firmament. His shining eyes became the stars in the sky, however his heart was deeply sunk into the earth.
Since the beginning, life continues and the world continues to turn with millions of invisible threads – the pressure on the earth and all life the White Reindeer will collect and hold together.
If you listen closely, the heartbeat of the White Reindeer is still audible….
    (Mythology of the Sami)

Have a wonderful, relaxed and happy Festive season from Karen and the Luxlyk herd xx

A very Merry Christmas from Frodo...
All followers from last year will remember the very poorly reindeer that joined us in September 2017 and wasn't going to survive Winter!! He scraped through and he was a daddy to 3 (surprisingly).. He is a very handsome boy now but I am still waiting for him to drop his antlers so that he can play nicely with the rest of the herd... But boy is he handsome this year. :) Look at his coat condition, beard, antlers and bod weight... A different deer this year. :) xx

OMG Karen, we who watched him still look at Frodo and say "Wow is that the same scrawny, pathetic, shell of a reindeer?!" Well yes it is! Just look at that beautiful flowing coat, beautiful body and muscle, he is just wonderful!:inlove::inlove::inlove: And all it took was your love and kindness to bring him around! You should be VERY PROUD dear woman!;):inlove:

Hee hee he has changed sooo much. Thank you Lilac for hosting another old photo.. The dodgy ones I don't share in case children get upset..

But Frodo is a cracking bull this year. :) Close to death last Autumn..

It is amazing the difference in him and it is all down to your love and care.

His feet need trimming, as we have had a wet Autumn BUT I can't tackle him until he drops those antlers as he's still a rutty boy.. Minor issue though as they aren't impeding him. :) Just on the to do list!

Karen, Frodo does not look like a rutty boy in the Merry Christmas picture. He looks like a Super Sweet Cuddles Boy. xD xD
He will be your Good Buddy again real soon. :) Wishing you all a very blessed New Year! :inlove:

I still have a silly to myself...
I kept saying how thin his legs were, I couldn't believe his legs when I purchased him.. and everyone said reindeer legs are thin... but look at his initial photos and now. I am sure it isn't just me but there was no flesh on his legs at all.
    Maybe I'm a leg person! :)
