Karen, I too thought how is that poor animal even standing on those very thin splinter like legs?! And now they have filled out nicely!
You can't help but notice how thin they were!;)

Just a funny... Can you all point Lotte in the direction of that big fat guy in the Red Suit as it seems she has had enough of Christmas... :)
They love to play with recycled Christmas trees.

Lotte is just trying to get the wonderful pine smell all over herself! It's the new reindeer perfume for 2019! ;)

    Twiglet and her daughters..
Not that I am starting to speculate but so far Twiglet has only had daughters. Will she break the trend this year?
L to R Lotte, Lexi, Tigga, Twiglet & Fergie. They often hang out together which is rather lovely and the biggest Mummies girl is Lotte (the oldest). [IMG]:)

I really can't believe people - I have a sign up saying "Please do not feed as they are on a specialised diet and other feedstuffs could prove fatal" - or words to that effect but I found cooked carrots throw over fence today???? How many kinds of stupid are there? :(

Apparently there must be many kinds of stupid, can't people read! :( Love the pictures of Twiglet and her daughters. She obviously thinks that baby girls are best ;)

Thanks Karen for the wonderful pictures of Twiglet and her girls! How nice that they all get to hang around together!:inlove:
I have found that stupid comes in all forms, and when stupid reads signs, they think those signs are for everyone else BUT THEM!
    Pretty sad huh?!

I would Never Ever presume to have the audacity to feed someone else's animals!!!!!!! :wuerg::mad::mad:
How stupid can people be??? o_O How can a person assume to know what it good for a rare animal to eat? It's just as dangerous to go around handing out peanut butter cookies to children you don't know....they could be deathly allergic!!!!!:cry:

So very sorry BohoKaren, that you have more things to worry about with the health and welfare of your gorgeous herd!
p.s. I love the pics of your "girls club"!!!:inlove:

Posting two in one... I hope it works and isn't too much data to upload..
"I thought I was seeing double this morning!
As many will know Pookie cat, my supposed vermin controller, has an invader (Black cat) that used to steal her breakfast. Now it doesn't as I guard Pookie eating both her meals but it has nevertheless decided that we are a great place to hang out and it too follows me around paddocks... I am not a born cat person but having Pookie and Black Cat follow me around has kind of softened me. [IMG]:)
But today I have a second black cat join me - this one has 3 legs, so easily recognised...
I know dogs love human company (and reindeer too) but cats??? Starting to feel like Pied Piper for cats! [IMG]:)

Talking about cats... On from last post.
Trying to herd reindeer is like trying to herd cats, impossible... It just doesn't happen even with a super tame herd it is hard work BUT carry a plank of wood, a bucket on your head or wear a Santa outfit, an empty wheel barrow... or to be honest anything out of the ordinary and they'll follow their owner anywhere - they are inquisitive beasties. [IMG]:)
I draw the line at doing cartwheels but I have a wonderful work experience lad, maybe that's his next job!.... [IMG];)

Great pictures of all the cats and the reindeer!:inlove:I will say, having had HOUSE cats all of my life, as they were more suited to my living and working life, that they are VERY curious animals and once they "pick you and trust you" they will need to see what is going on all the time.
They are just great helpers when you are trying to wrap Christmas gifts!o_O:p they will be right in the middle of the paper! lol I think it is kind of funny as you were not as you say a "cat person" that these cats have chosen you! They know you have a good and a kind heart Karen, enjoy them as they are the clowns of the animal world! lol
I hope your work experience lad is prepared for his acrobatic debut! He will have a captive audience for sure!;)xD

I agree with what sanddollar has said about cats. They are always there to "help" when you don't need it. I have also found from experience that cats seem to know when someone is not really a "cat person", and they will try their best to change that person's mind about them. Some people also think that black cats bring good luck especially if one walks across in front of you, just don't trip up over them though lol! Love the pictures of the cats and reindeer, and I am sure they would all think it very amusing to see you doing cartwheelsxD

Frodo dropped his antlers overnight. So a worming and a hoof trim for him and Elsa and then the whole herd together again. [IMG]

Sounds as though Frodo and Elsa are going to have a "fun" day! Love the picture of Pookie with the antlers, although I think they may be a bit big for her to wear.:)

Frodo is such a handsome, healthy stud!!!....even without his antlers.:p Pookie's pic is so cute of her examining the sign and antlers!;) I bet you are relieved that the rut is over! I watch a show called "The Last Alaskans" and they were tracking a rutting Elk bull....but decided to back away b/c he was just too scary. Smart men! (I was so proud that I knew what a rut was....rather than being something to be stuck in. xD)

Trouble is Gandalf's rut isn't... although his antlers were removed his stubs are still there and I have the bruises in my backside to show.
If his antlers were still on I would no longer be posting but pushing up daisies!
I am seriously thinking I may need to castrate him as he may be too dangerous next year. I really don't want to as the recessive genes he carries I would hate to loose so quickly. It's a serious worry as what to do...

    In the meantime...
My baby boy Bruno is growing up too fast.
He broke one antler a while ago but today he shed his second baby antler.

Baby Bruno is definitely growing up fast bless him. It must be a worry for you knowing what to do about Gandalf, I just hope you manage to come to the best decision about him. We don't want you "pushing up daisies" when his antlers start to grow again!:(

Sorry folks that I have been a little lax with herd updates...

I have procrastinated with my Tax Returns and am now racing against the clock.. but rest assured they are all well and I'll be boring you shortly with belly watch!
But for now Frodo and his sons, Herman and Bruno.

Frodo has lost weight during rut (all bulls do) but as you can see not worrying this year... :) Happy herder here.

I have enjoyed catching up on all the news and lovely photos that I've missed due to my unwelcome "hurricane vacation" from the farm. These beautiful creatures always make me smile!:inlove:

Where are you based? Global weather is getting pretty worrying as it is getting extreme. :(

So when will Gandalf's rut be over? What signals that it is done?

Herman and Bruno are great looking boys! :D Herman looks like he is wearing furry snowboots. :music:
