As with all boys, their hormones drop and then they shed antlers (Gandalf doesn't look as if he has antlers as I removed them - to stubs) but his stubs are still intact and he is using them :( not only on me but on Frodo and Boris too.. He has head butted them so hard that he made their new velvet bleed despite them being heavier than him... He's a jumped up little so and so! :) When Boris still had antlers, Boris kept him in tow BUT now pecking order has changed.

Karen, I live in northwest Florida. We had a category 5 hurricane in October that devastated several counties in Florida and did much damage in several more states. We actually made history as it was the third most powerful hurricane to make landfall in the US.

Boris and Frodo are going to have to team up to put Gandalf in his place, the cheeky boy:( Love the picture of Frodo and his sons, he must be one proud Dad;)

    Mixed emotions here...
Babies Herman and Fergie will be going to "pastures new" next week, both to wonderful homes... Herman will be a stud bull (in waiting) and Fergie is going to increase genetic diversity in another herd..
In return baby Ivy will be joining us and so too will a daughter of Finn from another herd.
It is always hard to part but it has to be done..
Just pictures of Herman and Fergie at birth.. xx
First two Fergie on day one, second two the Monster on day one. [IMG]:)

Awe, wonderful pictures to awaken the memory!:inlove: Although it is always sad that they are leaving, the "up side" is you ALWAYS find caring and wonderful homes for your babies! I am happy Herman will be a "bull in waiting" I know his off spring will be as amazing as he
is and that baby Fergie will get to be a mom some day also!
Can't wait to see pictures of baby Ivy and the other little girl coming to join your herd! Best of luck to you and your herd!:inlove:

I 'm so glad Herman is going somewhere to be a stud. It would have been sad if his genes were lost forever! He is so magnificent.
Doing a happy dance that he is staying entire. :)

Karen - I absolutely don't know how you handle having your babies leave? This is how I know for sure that I could NOT do what you do. Obviously your devotion and commitment to the reindeer colony outweighs your own personal connection to your own herd. I applaud you for that! You are benefitting other herds as well as your own. You are ensuring the health and welfare of a reindeer population outside of yours.:inlove: Kudos. That is true conservation and ensurement of the health and proliferation of this magnificant species.

Although it is sad that Herman and Fergie are leaving you I am sure that you have made certain that they are going to loving and caring homes. Will look forward to 'meeting' Ivy and the other little girl when they arrive.

Blessings to you as you part from Herman and Fergie. It is hard, but tempered by the blessing of two new darlings to love. Herman will be an awesome stud and Fergie will carry super traits to her new herd.
Very eager to see photos of the new young ladies!:inlove:

I just got such a LOL when watching this quite a few times. My husband had a good belly laugh.Just love the antics of RL animals surprise us all. Sorrow for RL losses too.
Wish you and all your RL animals well in all your hard work, time + endeavours. :inlove: PS. my timing sucks, watched this a while ago...them time ran away from me:(

Sister3 love your profile pic... adorable.

Herman and Fergie are still with me as working out exchange day is tricky as I would really like to get both new babies with me on the same day.. Only being selfish for my new babies as it would be better for them if they can bond before being introduced to the main herd. Herman and Fergie won't have that luxury as they are going as singletons...

In the meantime an update from Ythanbank - who give a loving home to my babies, Thor, Loki, Freddy and Storm.
    - our baby boys from past years.
As you can see they are happy and healthy. [IMG]:) Thank you Elaine and Scott Jones for loving them so much. x
