Thanks, Brooke! I knew there had to be many others who are aware of/have experienced our feline friends' extraordinary talents!!:inlove:

Karen, that sounds sooo wonderful!:inlove: Your description makes it come alive....and I had to laugh at you waking her up, as it is usually the other way around! LOL!!xD

Joanc - 4 girls and 1 boy;) You must have missed the first two. ;)

No new ones overnight but all babies doing fine. Bruno too, despite walking a little oddly. :)

Poor Bruno, I bet he is calling you a few names and it won't be "nice mum" :wuerg:

So does that mean that you will keep Bruno as part of your herd because he has been snipped?:p If so, I think Bruno will be very happy in a day or two!;)

Not sure Sanddollar as to be honest I can't keep increasing my herd without winning the lottery to buy hundreds more acres.

My goal has always been to build up my female herd and breed happy healthy reindeer to supply to loving homes..

This year's plan was that I needed to sell all calves BUT I cannot part with Luna and I really want to keep Ria's baby too as I think she will have an apricot coat in maturity BUT keeping those two means I have to find homes for others.
Tough decisions but I will need to sell young adults if I want t keep Luna and my blonde girl too.. Never easy to decide

Today's updates on the five babies born to date, in age order. (no new ones today).
1 Pascha, 2 (Eli's calf, now named) Zola, 3 Luna, 4 Katya's baby (I am thinking Bertie) and 5 Ria's baby (a name hasn't stuck yet - I was thinking Hazel but I'm not sure I'm happy with that yet. Maybe tomorrow a name will jump out. x
Oh and I slipped one in of Pookie camping with me in calving paddocks. [IMG];)

Beautiful pics of all the babies so far and Lovely picture of Pooky (the over worked mouser!!!xDxDxD)

yes, it will be great if you can keep Luna and Ria's baby too! You just have to do what is best for your herd, and you ALWAYS do!
I just love them all, but when you run out of space...you run out of space!!;)

Love the pictures of the babies. Pookie looks like a very contented cat, dreaming of all those mice she has caught for you:D

Lovely photos! Pookie is a very charming lady. I really hope you can keep both Luna and Ria's exceptionally pretty girl. I love that apricot color!:inlove:

Congrats on five healthy calves! Half way there :) Will it be difficult to find new homes for all of them? I know you are very picky about who you sell to.

    8) Thank you for all those beautiful baby pictures - and Pookie, too!! That is one huggable kitty!!:inlove::inlove::D

Something about Ria's baby, the sweet look of her face I think, reminds me of Bambi's girlfriend (in the Disney movie), but I can't think of her name. Does anyone remember what it was??
She and Luna are exceptionally pretty. What an outstanding herd you are building, Karen!:D

Another girl this morning to Lotte/Frodo.
A surprise indeed as I was expecting a brown baby from these two but Lotte is the girl who aborted an albino 2 years ago (no calf last year), so this is her first viable baby.

It seems I will have a full paint palette of colours this year! :)

As I have a little gap between calves now (I think) I have uploaded a couple of videos for a cuteness fest.

The first Luna trying to chew straw and second today's baby girl (as yet unnamed) trying grass, so much easier. :)

Great videos Karen! I still can't get over how "pink" Luna's tummy is! :) Lotte's little one has the markings like some of the cows
at the ranch next to me! lol

Sand - the purple/pink on belly is an umbilical spray I treat all with in order to stop bacteria going through umbilicus that could cause "joint ill" https://www.farmhealthonline.com/disease-management/sheep-diseases/joint-ill-sheep/ in a few weeks if it isn't sorted at birth. ;) She does have very pink pigment but her belly is a spray on antibac! :)
I try to dot I's and cross t's to up the worldwide expectation of 50% survival rate of reindeer calves.. I still strive for 100% although not always attainable. :)
