I'm still waiting on Belle and I am sorry I didn't get my camera out today as I was having a lovely time talking to a wonderful couple about reindeer - what else!

I had an absolutely lovely lady and her husband spend the day with my herd today.

Long story but she sent me a lovely email about 6 months ago asking if I was open to the public (which I am not) and if there was any chance she could visit my herd. Apparently she had been sending messages to different people for the past 3 years. It was her dearest wish to be able to stroke a reindeer for her 75th Birthday, (her husband, and chauffeur, 80 years old).
I invited her to join us, a few weeks after her Birthday as I was mid calving for the day of her Birthday but they had to travel over 3 hours and booked a holiday cottage for the week. Such a lovely day, and I have invited them back for a morning before they go home - which will either be Friday, or if Belle calves before then as soon as Belle has bonded with her baby, I want them to see a new born.

I had received so many cards from her over the last few months as she really couldn't believe her dream was coming true - she even said that she had been waking in the night to check her texts and emails to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
I got so many hugs and tears. Must say I shed a few too, knowing I could easily just have replied saying we aren't open to the public but I saw how much it meant to her to walk in amongst the babies, stroke & hand feed the adults and have the babies come and sniff her trousers.. Her hubby took loads of photos so hopefully he will share some..
    A lovely day for me.

Only a quick update as my skin is prickling ;) I think I may need to camp out in paddocks tonight to watch Belle.. I may be wrong BUT!!!
Haven't time to post individual photos of babies that I took but here's a video, nothing exciting on it just happy babies milling around...
Keep your fingers crossed for Belle tonight, I may be wrong BUT... ;) I have that feeling.

Hmmn I am still waiting on Belle - skin still prickly, I must have a nettle rash. :) If she is not careful I'll be feeding her curry and taking her for a jog!
I have had a paddock change scheduled for a while but couldn't do it while a mother had just calved and then I wanted to wait until after my lovely pensioner couple had visited (as previous paddock easier for them)..
Last night, I thought ideal - Belle can calf in new paddock.. BUT I had forgotten that I had left a gate open to hay paddocks and would they come back, no, having too much fun, but hey ho they won't eat hay anyway, I give it away and have to buy them bagged haylege and they will only eat the most expensive brand!
Got to love their expensive tastes! Eeek!

You can hardly blame them for not wanting to come back xD

The paddock you wanted them in would have their feeding areas set up. When put out their evening feed (since they won't eat the hay) won't they just head back to your preferred paddock? ;) Then you can close the gates. And they've just had a fun romp today, maybe it'll help Belle. Hope all goes well.:inlove: 9 healthy babies so far says not spoiled rotten … just spoiled. :p

The boys antlers are so impressive! I haven't seen them in quite awhile.
I too am praying that Belle's delivery goes well and has a healthy baby.

Still no baby but a little swipe of her udder an hour ago, my hand was moist. It wasn't sticky colostrum just wet clear substance.... So she has to be CLOSE!!! Turning grey here. :)

Belle is driving me ditsy as to when she will calf.
She wasn't meant to be in calf but she is (I detected a calf kicking 2 months ago). Gandalf jumped a fence into castrate/baby/ and young girl paddock once all his girls were covered. She could have been due any time between today and a week hence BUT yesterday a brush of her udder was wet... but not sticky wet like colostrum but wet, so I thought last night delivery.
I camped out with her last night but no sign of even the ...
